gags and other things we haven't seen in awhile

Ok, so just post a gag or comic type you haven't seen in awhile that you wanna see again. Personally i want to see a new Inner Thoughts of Fighter

Transcend 02-04-2006 08:50 PM

You know, I really don't think Brian takes "requests" per se--if he did, BB would still be rather alive. Rather, he goes with what takes the comic the way he wants it to go.

That said, I appreciate Dwarf Land and the bearded king, as well as Evil Princess Sara.

Twotoes 02-05-2006 06:14 PM

I'd like to see another addition to "The Messenger and Elite Royal Guard Hank" running gag. I don't think we've seen those two in a while. XD

CelebrenIthil 02-05-2006 06:30 PM

Well, we haven't heard of Princess Sara or King Steve in a while...

Kaelus 02-05-2006 06:32 PM

Yup. I miss EPS. T_T

Dj_StarChild 02-05-2006 07:44 PM

I Miss Black Mage...O WAIT

Number 81 02-05-2006 09:44 PM

We see Sara every so often, but she isn't being EVIL!

I also miss BM's love of pie.

Krylancelo 02-05-2006 11:56 PM

Am I the only one still interested in Matoya and Bahamut? I'd like a better explanation to the class-change than, "Scientific Progress Goes 'Spoing!'"

50 points for the Calvin and Hobbes reference, but, sadly, you may very well be the only one still interested. The majority of us are still trying to burn the idea of old lady/dragon sex out of our memories though means like science, psychotherapy, and booze.

Krylancelo 02-06-2006 12:09 AM

Oh, but my dear friend, I believe we've stumbled upon a whole new genre of fantasy-porn: God/King Dragon X Witch. We shall patent this and make millions! But seriously, I'm interested. It seems like Raven even factors into all of this, and the goings-on of beings with supreme power is much more interesting from an RPer's point of view.

On a related topic, I'd better begin keeping score with said "points." When I reach a kajillion, I plan to cash them in for a landspeeder.

And, sadly, the word 'kajillion' will be invented at about the time that a landspeeder will be.

Anyways, I do miss the pie reference, but I also miss many of the run-on-gags, like how elves are pansies and arrogant, so on. Only by looking at the page numbers do I notice that these gags come very infrequently when you don't start out with some 526 comics.

To put it bluntly, be patient. Brian seems to have a way of old gags coming back at the most inopertune time. We will be patient, and expect them to come. But when they do come, it will be unexpected. And then we will laugh. And then we will cry.

And always, always, we will embrace the name of Brian Clevinjer.

I expect it to flood the internet by the end of the week. If it hasn't already. <.<

Anyway, I kind of miss Onion Kid, but it's been WAY to small a time since his last joke. Needs to stretch out just a bit longer before I can expect that again.

I find a week-long meth binge followed by sniffing gasoline helps myself. Unfortunatly I also forgot my name and where my pants are.

Good thing my password is saved on my computer, ain't it?

I don't, really. Pie is now a constant sophomoric joke on sprite comics throughout the Internet. Every single geocities sprite comic with a 10-comic archive is pretty much megaman, mario, samus, and the like swearing and mentioning pie. Pie is simply overdone, and I think 8BT rather quickly moved on to the point where all of its humor could be character-based or situation-based, and as such didn't need to fall back on formulaic wackiness. Oh, it still has plenty of absurdity, but the absurdity is not the stale predictability of pie.

Is that a challenge to make pie unpredictable? You're on, good Sir!
Hahahahhaapieahaha

Edit: I apologize... that wasn't funny and/or clever in the slightest.

It's been done to perfection with Bahamut and Matoya. The expiriance still leaves me unable to listen to Matoya's Cave from the "Black Mages: The Skies Above" without throwing up during that jazzy part in the middle.

Hearing that song, and remembering those episodes makes me laugh.... But then, I'm strange, and lots of things make me laugh...

on the note of gags and such, I would love to see what the Real light warriors are doing at this moment, and what trouble they are in:).

Seran 02-06-2006 08:49 PM

I wonder what happened to Cleric, Ranger, Berserker, and Ranger?

ElfLad 02-06-2006 08:57 PM

Real Light Warriors and Other Warriors are easily the funniest.

Of course, Other Warriors aren't really a running gag, more of a running series, because they're never there for only one comic.

Kirbyslaboratory 02-06-2006 10:29 PM

King Steve. That's it. We need more King Steve.

"Is this news cupcake related?"

Didn't you meant Rogue somewhere?

Anyway, I just wonder what happened to the forest imps; Garland got therapy but I don't think they stopped existing nonetheless. Will they resurface and torture that favorite baddie of mine?
Mystery...:shifty:

Long-Haired Narcissist 02-06-2006 11:38 PM

The imps!!! We have not seen them in about 300 comics.

edit: celebrin, how did you think the same thing I was thinking in the same 6 minute period?

Oh, I think he meant Ranger twice. After all, he does have twice the amount of Ranger that the human body can hold.

Trepie 02-06-2006 11:53 PM

I'm missing Black Mage's paper where he would write down all his lame jokes. And White Mage... where is she? It seems the last thing she did was make the Black Belt fanboys shutup and quit complaining. And that didn't really seem like it was originally part of the story. More of a forum influenced thing.

Although I agree. We need more EPS and King Steve. If memory serves me right. The light warriors should be poor and having to return to Coneria ever 5 minutes to stay at the 75 gp inn... :P

I took 4 points in mind-reading! :D
But, I must bow down to the witty remark of Transcend!
You get a point here! XD

There are no such things as imps. That's just silly.

MetalPsycho 02-07-2006 08:11 AM

Considering the internet, probably not.

Juggy#3 02-07-2006 08:33 AM

I just got off work and have nothing else to do.

I went and searched for it. It does not exist.....yet.

And he's half elf, making it four times the amount of ranger the human body can hold! Mercy!

On the plus side, Fighter's going to do something either extremely cool or utterly idiotic, which is always nice. And I'm sure we'll not see the true power of the unleashed nexus for a while, at the very least.

Long-Haired Narcissist 02-08-2006 12:09 AM

I want to see Brian do another set of episodes with BM and his conscience. And we need WM back so BM can use some funky new pick up lines...All in due time, all in due time.

Sryen 02-08-2006 09:37 PM

I think we need more real light warriors, their version of fighter is almost just as stupid as our favorite sword chuckin fighter. I would also like to see some more of fighters diary.

VRaptorX 02-13-2006 12:25 PM

I miss the cross-dressing from Elf-land. that and the whole escaping the spider web section.

Probably the true power will be shown on 666!!! And BM will turn into Nihel and there will be a Nuklear Age/8-Bit crossover!!! (Only in my dreams) I read the entire Nuklear Age, waiting for BM or RM to appear, but to no avail. Perhaps there's hope in Atomik Age...

I think that's just a part of 8BT that you liked, not an actual running gag that you miss...

That's it, we need more (drumroll please) *ahem* "SWORD-CHUCKS, YO!"... and imagine, he'll wield them with even more skill with his new class change!

Long-Haired Narcissist 02-13-2006 08:38 PM

Well we do need more cross dressing mage with daddy issues on thief action.. or at least RM in a dress again

Transcend 02-13-2006 08:53 PM

I, too, miss Debora. Oh, soft, sweet Debora, my star-cross'd(ressing) lover.

Krylancelo 02-13-2006 09:36 PM

Oh, dear Sir Transcend, you do have a way with words.

We need more Fiends! It's been so very long since Kary.

No I have a better idea, two Sword Chucks attached on a chain chained together.

I don't think it's time to bring Kraken in yet but he should give us a glimpse into hell. Just as long as he doesn't have bag of bones/snake lady porn circulating similar to what he did last month with Matoya and Bahamut
*shudders*
*PAUSES*
OH GOD WHAT DID I JUST THINK ABOUT?!?!?

Skit 02-13-2006 11:46 PM

You monster, you have put the image of White Mage/Kary/Kraken/Lich picture in my head...

Ultima08 02-14-2006 06:32 PM

It seems to me that the only reason we haven't seen to many of the running gags lately is th fact that there is no civilzation on cardia
theres simply no reason why Hank and messenger, WM and everyone else would go
that and they are just interacting with each other not the world

Tomak 02-14-2006 11:24 PM

i miss Black mage hitting on white mage. the "mage on mage" lines BM uses. although im waithing for somthing like this to happen.
BM: now im not gonna say who asked who for hot mage on mage action.
Fighter: you asked RM for mage on mage action? i had my concerns about RM, but i didn't think you would swing that way.

that would get rid of the whole Dragon/witch images, and replace them with a whole new set of disturbing images.

XD, I bet you $5 that wil show up in a comic one of these days. Anyway, I'd like to see more Onion Kid, Real Light Warriors, and King Steve.

tacticslion 02-17-2006 09:12 PM

I asked Brian for the Real Light Warriors more often once. He told me it was their rarity that made them so beautiful. I wept many, many bitter tears, for my love was denied me. I weep all the more.
(P.S. if Brian reads this and goes 'who the CRAP?' it's only because he has no idea who I am, 'cause he answered said question in an email when I had a different email name. So, yeah. Just clarifyin').

Long-Haired Narcissist 02-18-2006 12:11 PM

I just thought of another running gag that isn't seen much. There have been at least 4 giants in the series. Each one has crushed something.
