Evil's Return: The Sign-Up Thread
They said that they wanted her to have as normal of life as possible.
Malarkey. If they wanted her to lead a normal life, then she never would of heard of the prophesy of the Mother of Hell, never would have been told that her firstborn would decide the fate of the world, never would of known that from birth she was hunted by demons. And she sure as heck wouldn’t of ended up with a bunch of people like us as her guardians. I mean, let’s face it, I don’t think even the most densest person in the world would label as “normal”. She didn’t deserve to be the at the center of this…but she was. And it was our job to make sure that nothing happened to her. First off (and to scare everyone away...), the important information!! Groups Important to the RP The Council: With so many organizations, old and new, fighting to keep mankind from being consumed by the dark, it was only a matter of time before they started talking to one another. The Council is made up of S.E.C.A., the Society, several of the major religious organizations, even the Sealers. The Wardens and the Vigilante hunters, not being organized beyond the sharing of information, are not seated on the Council officially, well respected Wardens and Hunters are members of the council to voice the opinion of the more “common man.” It was the council who decreed that the Mother of Hell should be protected, and began to gather protectors for her. However, the Council is unable to force any of the organizations to do anything, and as such, even though the Council has promised to protect the Chosen, Sealers and some religious groups are out to kill her. The Protectors: A.k.a.: The Characters. Those chosen from within their organizations to keep the Mother of Hell out of the hands of the supernatural, and to protect her from the more “overzealous” organizations out to kill her. The Other Side/ The Dark / The Enemy / The Demons: The prophesy of the Mother of Hell is directly tied to the realm that most humans refer to as Hell. Despite the efforts of the “good guys”, Hell Cults are spread out all over the place. Once word gets out that the Mother of Hell is manifest, these cults will be drawn to her location. See the “Demons” entry for more information. The Mother of Hell / The Chosen: The centerpiece of this little adventure. A young woman is manifest as this every so often (no pattern has emerged throughout history), and her birth is easily divined by mages or others with the ability to scry the future. The long and the short of it is that the children of this women will either open the Gates of Hell, allowing a full scale demonic invasion of Earth, of will forever seal the Gates closed, making it all out impossible for demons to manifest in this plane at all. It is generally believed if the child is part demon, or is raised by demons, it will be the destroyer rather than the savior. As such, the primary purpose of the Protectors is to keep the Mother of Hell out of the hands of the Dark at all costs. In every case on history, the Mother of Hell was killed before she could bear children, retaining the current status quo. Major Organizations: The Supernatural Elimination and Containment Agency (S.E.C.A.): The government agency in charge of handling supernatural phenomena/outbreaks/whatever. They generally rely heavily on technology, with very few magic adepts in their ranks. Very few people know about this organization…only a handful of people at the Pentagon and a few long-timers in the Senate. S.E.C.A. agents range from investigators to the highly skilled “Strike Teams”, and are armed basically armed with every weapon on the planet…including access to nuclear weapons as a final option to prevent an “outbreak” scenario. And if you not sure what an outbreak scenario is, you need watch Night of the Living Dead, and that will give you a general idea. Most personnel in the organization were recruited after they had an experience with the supernatural…it is standard operating procedure for the organization to extend those who they rescue/help/come across an invitation to join the organization. This keeps the number of available agents high, and has the added bonus of cutting down on “vigilante monster hunters” who tend to not be as secretive or careful in their dealings with the “other side”. As to the Mother of Hell, S.E.C.A. is firmly in on the side of protecting her. Characters from S.E.C.A. will be skilled in firearms and other such weapons, but will tend to shy away from anything magical. The Society: Perhaps the oldest known counter-supernatural organization on the planet, The Society has been fighting monsters and demons for well over a thousand years. Due to it’s age, the Society relies heavily on magic, as it has for centuries. This is not to say that the Society doesn’t use modern technology, but compared to many other organizations out there, it is definitely one that specializes in the use of magic to combat the supernatural. The Society is funded by its own members…many of which come from long lines of aristocracy and as such, have deep pockets. The Society is one of the organizations trying to protect the Chosen. Characters from The Society will tend to be magic users. See my description on magic for details. The Wardens: The Wardens are not an organization as much as they are a group of free-lance monster hunters that share information. The Wardens are different from other such groups in that most of the players in this organization have some sort of special ability that make it easier for them to hunt demons (see the bio for Nat Jackson for an example). However, other than the occasional gathering to take down a large group of monsters, the Wardens are an organization in name only, not in practice. Each “member” is responsible for his own gear, and as such, there is a healthy mishmash of magic and technology. The Wardens are deeply split on the matter of the Mother of Hell. Some members believe that it’s a myth, some believe that she should be protected, many are out to kill her. Because of this, the information network of the Wardens is currently in shambles, as the members don’t want to tip their hands to opposing factions. Characters who are Wardens will be allowed to have a single special ability, at the price of not having as good of equipment as a character from S.E.C.A. and other such groups would have. Religious Organizations: Many of the major religious organizations have an anti-monster task force, a la Section XIII and the Hellsing organization from the anime/manga Hellsing. For the sake of ease (and to avoid insulting anyone), I’ll just say that these organizations tend to favor technology over magic, but also have access to holy weapons that are not available to other organizations. Their outlook on the Mother of Hell depends on the faction. Some are neutral, some for protecting her, others believe it is for the best that she dies. You are free to make up your own religious organization if you wish…just avoid insulting other people’s religions, please. The Sealers: Another ancient group, not as old or powerful as The Society, but definitely powerful. The Sealers are very much in favor of the term “shoot first and ask questions later” when it comes to dealing with the supernatural. Members of the Sealers are believed to be behind many historical witch hunts, including the infamous Salem Witch Trails. While they do get the job done, they tend to worry less about collateral damage than the other organizations. Sealers often work with “vigilante” hunter groups, which gives them access to local expertise (and cheap cannon fodder) in many places. They use both magic and technology, but are not as skilled in it as the more exclusive groups (i.e., don’t have the gear of S.E.C.A. or the magical firepower of the Society, or the relics of the Religious Organizations). The Sealers believe that allowing the Mother of Hell to live is to invite the destruction of mankind, and are actively hunting her. Unless you can give me a really, really, really, really good reason, your character can’t be a Sealer. They’re just your token baddie group. Vigilante Hunters: The small-time groups take are almost exclusively local organizations, lacking even the information sharing of the Wardens. These range from groups of concerned citizens who hunt to keep their families safe to rednecks looking for a good time to sadists who figured out its easier to get away with torturing things that aren’t human. Armed with the knowledge they’ve uncovered in old book or online, and armed with whatever they can afford, Vigilante Hunters are often seen as the grass roots of the battle against The Other Side...whether they are better or worst than the monsters they hunt depends on the person. Chances are that the player characters won’t be Vigilante Hunters…most probably aren’t even aware of the prophesy of the Mother of Hell. However, if you can think up a good way from them to be including in the Protectors, I’ll allow you to be a Vigilante. Magic I’ve tried to develop this system for magic in the attempt to keep it from being “uber”, if you catch my drift. I’d like for magic and technology to basically be on the same level so that the people who decided they’d rather be a gunslinger than a mage don’t fell like their just there as meatshields. Anyways… For the purpose of this RP, magic will come in two classes: Sigil Magic: This is also known as “lower magic”. Sigil magic is the simpler of the two classes of magic, as it uses a symbol to channel the power of the incantation to produced the desired effect. The obvious downside is, of course, that you need a sigil, not just the incantation, to produce the intended result. Sigils can be put on any medium, such as discs, cards, or even Post-It Notes (always the popular option for up and coming mages). For sigil magic to work, the sigil has to be touching the intended target. Want to blow up a wall? Put a sigil on it. Want to throw a fireball?, well…that’s trickier. More often than not, for attacks like that, you throw the sigil right after you complete the spell, preferably before it turns into a fireball or what have you. This is one of the greatest limitations of sigil magic. However, the advantage to sigil magic is that you can affect several sigils with one incantation. For example, if you have three sigils in hand, you can use a single incantation to turn all three into fireballs. Incantation Magic: Also known as “higher magic”. This is used by those who can cast magic without a sigil. It takes much more focus to be able to channel power with a sigil, but the upside is that you can cast it anywhere, anytime since you don’t have to take time to make the sigil, or need to have a sigil on hand. Not everyone is able to graduate to higher magic, and most people who can are members of The Society. The only limit to incantation magic is how fast the caster can speak. Also, unless the spell is specific for a multiple effect, only one reaction is produced per spell (for example, the incantation to throw a fireball would be different than the incantation to throw three). The average incantation can be spoken in 2-3 seconds. More complex spells can require anywhere from 10 seconds to hours, depending on the desired result. Long term spells, such as a permanent ward of protection or whatnot, may require a sigil to serve as the focus for the spell, even if it is a higher level spell. I won’t spell out what isn’t or is allow as far as magic goes…just remember to keep it under control…this isn’t an Avatar RP. Sidenote: The combination of magic and technology: Outside of a few basic things, magic and technology don’t really jive that well. One of the more popular combinations that do work is to add a magic effect to bullets. However, this tends to be outrageously expensive as each bullet must be individually crafted, and the incantation must be crafted to not go off until the bullet is fired, which is a labor intensive process. Your average magic bullet will cost hundreds of dollars, and is a single use item. However, that is not the only use of combining magic and technology. If you have an idea that isn’t over the top, tell me about it, and I’ll dis/approve it on a case by case basis. Demons Why is the Mother of Hell so important in the first place? Because, with things as they are, demons (or most divine beings, for that matter), cannot freely move between their realm (Hell), and the human realm (Earth, for those of you not paying attention). There are ways, but outside of the Gates of Hell being opened, it takes a rather drastic event for a demonic entity to appear on the mortal plane with it’s powers fully intact. Least Demons (Possessing spirits): The least powerful demons on Earth are those who cannot manifest themselves in any way. They can control the mind of a human for a limited time, however. While possessed, the body of the human will feel no pain, and as such will continue on even if fatally damaged. However, once the possessing spirit is cast out, or leaves of it’s own free will, the host will bear the full brunt of any damage done to his body. The first skill that the majority of monster hunters learn is to shield their minds from possessing demons, so only the unskilled are in danger of being possessed. Lesser Demon: Lesser demons are those demons powerful enough to manifest themselves on the mortal plane, but with greatly reduced power. Often summoned by Hell Cults, lesser demons are usually what monster hunters go up against. Though more powerful than humans, any human with the right knowledge and equipment is more than a match for a lesser demon. Lesser Demon Subtype: Demonic Hybrid: In some cases, a lesser demon has been known to make a “pact” with a willing human. This allows the demon to use the body of the human to manifest itself, allow it to retain more of it’s power, more often than not at the price of the human’s life, for once the demon is manifests itself, the body is changed beyond repair. Demonic Hybrids are much more powerful than lesser demons since they require less of their power to remain manifest, since they draw on the lifeforce of their willing host. Hybrids are often more than a match for any single hunter. Lesser Demon Subtype: Blood Summoned: One of the more horrific ways to summon demons is by the way of animal or human sacrifice. Depending on what was used, the demon will be more powerful (for example, a rat won’t grant too much more power, but a bull would increase it’s power quite a bit…and a human sacrifice even more). This is because the demon will use the matter of the sacrifice to manifest it’s new body. Not as powerful as the demonic hybrid, but still a threat compared to lesser demons summoned without a sacrifice. Greater Demon: Only a handful of times in history has a greater demon been summoned successfully. To summon a greater demon, a blood ritual that requires the life of dozens, if not hundreds, of sacrifices must be performed. Due to the complexity of these rituals, they are extremely hard to plan, and even harder to keep secret. The various hunter organizations have kept the number of greater demons being summoned to a bare minimum…the last known case was in San Francisco in 1906. A number of “natural disasters” were in fact the aftermath of a greater demon being summoned. Once summoned, a greater demon is a terrible foe indeed. While not immortal, they can take an amazing amount of punishment, and have access to magic far beyond the abilities of humans. In every known case, the demon was destroyed soon after summoning, but always at a high cost in human lives. It should be noted that, even with the complex ritual, the greater demon retains only part of his true power. Outcasts / Fallen : The most rare case for a demon to become manifest on the mortal plane is for it be an “outcast” demon or a “fallen” angel. Outcasts are demons who have broken free of the thrall of a demon lord and have escaped, one way or another from the dark realms and into the mortal plane. A fallen is an divine being who has been exiled from the high planes for high crimes against the order there. Only 3 confirmed cases of this kind of demonic entity appearing exist on the record of all the organizations. The most terrifying aspect of this that these being have access to their full power, since they are physically in this plane, not just manifesting from another dimension. The power of the demon depends varies, of course. Should the Gates of Hell be opened, all demonic entities would rate in this category, having full access to their power in the mortal realm. ::waves at the few people that made it:: Yeah, I know...I'm long winded when you give me a chance. Now, for the part you've been waiting for, the Character Sheet Portion: Character Name: Obvious, no? Gender: Another category I hope is rather self-explanatory. Age: Again, duh. Given the young age of the Chosen, a number of the protectors should be the same age so that someone is with her, even at school or whatever. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a high school kid if you don’t want to be. Organization: What organization are you with. Feel free to use one of the ones I made up, or make up your own. If you make up your own, post a description of them. I retain my right as GM to veto, of course. If you want to be a vigilante, give me a good reason why you’re numbered with the Protectors. Class: Are you a mage? A gunslinger? A priest who specializes in the use of anti-demonic relics? A Buddhist monk that can kick unholy amounts of can? You get the point. Special Abilities: Also rather self-explanatory. If you must have a special ability, please try to limit yourself to one or two, and don’t go overboard with the power. I will veto anything I think is too uber…such as splitting planets with swords or whatever the heck it was Pyros and Raiden were talking about in the interest thread. Bio: Ah…everyone loves a good character backstory…with the keyword on that part being good. :p. Equipment/Belonging: If you’re a gunslinger, what the heck do you sling? If you’re a sigil mage, what are your sigils on? If you’re a relic user, what the heck is your relic? Stuff like that, along with any personal touches you want to throw in. Armored Bishoujo: If you are still interested in playing the Mother of Hell, I'll need to send you an PM. For the sake of plot, I'll need a handful of things about that character to remain as I originally intended, so you won't have complete control over the creation of your character. If this is alright with you, I'll give you as much breathing space as I can, but, like I said, for the sake of plot, I need a few things to be pre-defined. |
My characters in this:
Character Name: Nathaniel “Nat” Jackson, aka “Red Eye” Jackson. Gender: Male Age: 53 Organization: Wardens. Class: Gunfighter. Special Abilities: Red Eye: Nat has the ability to see through demon disguises, such as those who are possessing someone, or hybrids who haven’t fully manifested. Bio: It was Nathaniel who, 18 years ago, saved a young baby girl from being taken by the demons who killed her parents. It was also shortly there after than he killed his then partner who believe that it would be better for humankind to kill the girl. Nathaniel has since watched over the Chosen, and is sort of an adopted uncle of sorts. Nathaniel is a tough old dog that has long years of experience fighting demons. He looks like your stereotypical middle aged biker, right down to the graying goat-tee and longish hair. He is tallish at 6'2", Equipment/Belonging: M1 Garand rifle, with various and assorted bullet types you would expect form a monster hunter (silver, iron, etc), M1911 Colt pistol, high quality machete, motorcycle (for the sake of the gearheads out there…lets just say it’s a cruiser style) with your standard leathers. He has about six magic bullets, all for the Garand (2 anti-magic, 1 "firebullet", 2 "thunder bullets", and an "ice bullet"...pretty standard fare). He also has a laptop with a wireless modem, so he can access the Warden's network on the go. Character Name: Duncan McCragge [u[Gender[/u]: Male Age: 32 Organization: Society Class: Low Level Incantation Mage Special Abilities: Just to the point where he can cast spells without sigils. Specializes earth element spells. His most noteworthy spell is the ability to create a stone golem (the McCragge specialty). Bio: Duncan is the last of the McCragges. Man…that just drips with cliché, doesn’t it? Anyways, a very young, very inexperienced Duncan was with Nat Jackson was there 18 years ago when he, Jackson, and Duncan’s trainer, Mortachi Wright, saved a 3 month old baby girl from demons. Which means, of course, that Duncan was there when Nat gunned down Mortachi to protect infant Mother of Hell. It took a while for Duncan to get over that, but in time, he came to believe that Jackson was right, and over the years, the two because Laurella’s unofficial uncles…and they also spent those 18 years hitting Hell Cults and demons in the area before they caught wind of the Mother of Hell’s presence. However, the older she got, the harder it was to hide her. Duncan is well to do…mostly due to the fact that the McCragges are a very old, very well off family. He tends to dress in good suits, even when he expects to get his hands dirty. He has red hair, green eyes, and stands about six feet tall, and despite the fact he wasn’t born there, he has a hint of a Scottish accent, thanks to his family. Equipment/Belonging: McCragge Manor: The (somewhat) ancestral home of the McCragges, been in the family since the early 1800s when the McCragges moved to the states. This is also the place where many of the characters (at least those who want free room and board) will be put up for the RP. McCragge Manor is one of the better protected places in the world. The place was built by members of the Society, and as such, the place is covered by warding sigils and circles of protection. The kept out any demon short of a hybrid, and keeps people from teleporting in/out at will (it wouldn’t do to have a Hell Cultist teleport in, snag the Chosen, and teleport out, now would it?). It is a large house, and can easily accommodate very character…unless they’d rather have their own lodging. Cliché red sports car: Hey, he’s rich…he can have his little vices. Other standard stuff…nice suits…spell books, 9mm pistol for those little emergencies. Name: Tessa Scott[/b] Gender: Female Age: 27 Organization: S.E.C.A. Class: Investigator. She serves as the go-between for the Protectors and the Council. Special Abilities: None…unless you can count being able to put up with all the weirdoes in the Protectors. Bio: Nine years ago, Tessa had just moved out of college and was working as a bank teller, not knowing anything about the Other Side, until it quite literally came out of the dark and bit her. If it hadn’t been by the purest chance that a S.E.C.A. agent member saw the signs of being turned, Tessa would likely be a vampire at this point. However, due to the quick actions of this agent, Tessa was saved from a fate worst than death. Due to standard S.E.C.A. operating procedures, she was offered a position in the organization. For the last five years (a few years of training, of course) she’s been serving as an investigator attached to the Mother of Hell case. While Tessa is more of a talker than a fighter, she is able to hold her own in a fight, thanks to the S.E.C.A. version of boot camp. She’s very easy to get along with, has brown hair usually tied back in a pony tail, and is 5’7”. Equipment: Remington Model 870 with the standard monster-hunting rounds (no magic bullets), Smith & Wesson 910 handgun (9mm). Has access to police-style body armor if needed. Armored SUV: The one perk in her job is this SUV that has the same armor package as those used by high-level diplomats in danger zones. The SUV had bullet-proof glass, and armored plating inside the standard body. This increase the weight of the vehicle quite a bit, but adds a lot of protection. ------------ This is my last character, I swear...I just needed someone with the high schoolers. Character Name: Jared Greyhall Gender: Male Age: 17 Organization: The Shepards, a religious organization. They’re a comparatively small group, and as such usually wouldn’t have a voice on the Council, but due to the fact they have a headquarters in the area the Chosen lives, they’ve been brought in as local guides/experts for the larger organizations. Class: Exorcist Special Abilities: Cast Out: Jared has the ability to free people from demonic possession, and at the same time, send the demon back to Hell. Time it takes depends on the number of demons he is trying to excise at once. Only works on least demons. Spiritual Shield: Often used in conjunction with Cast Out to keep from being possessed while he is busy with the ritual. Spiritual Shield will repel least demons, but is less effective against others. Lesser demons trying to break through will feel like they’re trying to walk through a wall of string…it’s hard at first, but once there is break, it goes down fast. Hybrids and Blood Summoned are even less bothered by it. It also offered limited protection against magic (can take about a fireball or two before it shatters). Sense Possession: Like any good exorcist, Jared can tell if someone is possessed or not. Not really usefully for detecting demons as a whole, however. He can also sense the presence of least demons outside of a host, since they are the kind that an exorcist specializes in handling. (Yes, I did throw that in after the RP started...I needed it for a plot point.) Jared also has some martial arts training…nothing overly impressive though. Bio: Jared is a victim of circumstance. He was asked to join the Shepards about when he turned sixteen, since he was the same age as the Mother of Hell. About a year of training later, Jared finds himself with the other Protectors, more as a guide than anything, since he grew up in the area. He’s been in Laurella’s class a few times over the years, but they don’t really know each other. Despite his inexperience, Jared is a skilled exorcist, and is a great help against least demons…but against anything that has manifested, he’s not really that useful. Equipment: Staff of the Shepard: A holy relic of the Shepards, entrusted to Jared for the protection of the Chosen. Normally, it looks like a foot long grayish rod, but grows to the size of a quarterstaff when needed. The staff serves as a focus for Jared’s skills, and he’d be hard pressed to use any of them without the staff. It has a hidden blade in the bottom for melee combat, but the staff itself is basically unbreakable. |
Well, I'm calling a spot, though it'll take me a while to read through all of that and throw together a character.

Lazy asses.
Character Name: Jimmy St Claire Gender: Male Age: 17 Organization: None? Vigilante? Class: Punk ass kid. Special Abilities: I HAVE NO FANCY SHMANCY NAME: Jimmy is closely connected to his 'spiritual energy', or Ki, or what the hell ever, and can move supernaturally fast as well as being supernaturally strong. ...Supernaturally. Bio: Jimmy doesn't care much about demons or the fate of the world or hunting. Truth of the matter is that he's just a punk kid who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Fact of the matter is that he'd probably be dead by now thanks to the gang violence, drug violence, and violence that doesn't claim affiliation with other criminal activities if not for his particular ability, which--thanks to his pleasant and easy going life--was discovered quite early. His father died shortly after he was born living him to be raised by his mother, who was less than responsible--drinking, partying, and bringing strange men home. Jimmy never had any kind of real moral compass growing up, other than the streets of the ghetto. He learned fast and hard that only the strong survived, and he happened to be one of the strongest. Currently a senior in high school (you did say high school drama), he happens to be in a few classes with the 'mother of hell', and decided that he liked her 'swing'. Thanks to a few advances, he ended up fighting some of those demons that are after her. It's not love, by any means, and Jimmy knows that... but, his violent nature and street morals make beating the living crap out of demons a pretty decent pass time for him, anyway. (I'll leave it up to AB whether the mother is annoyed by his advances or whatever.) ...It's not like he's really even a protector. As for appearances, he's just under six feet tall and thin. He has a face that looks like it could have been pretty had he not been punched quite so many times, but now his nose has a strange bend in it where it's been broken a few times, and his left cheek sports a fun scar. Generally wearing leather and chains with a cigarette hanging from his lips (when he can get away with it). He looks like nothing more than your average street punk, but he's got a bit of a reputation on the streets and around school, as well, that occasionally scares people into doing what he wants, while other times brings down gangs of punks bent on revenge, or just proving how tough they are by bringing down Jimmy St Claire. Equipment/Belonging: A can of whoop-ass. |
I'm interested, just wanting to get something approved first.
Edit: To whoever is interested, I'm working on a character from a religious organization who specializes in melee. |
Okay, let's give this a shot(in the dark).
Character Name: Tyler "Ty" Locke Gender: Male Age: Currently 16 Organization: Society Class: Pistol-wielder. Uses bullets with sigils and incantations on them. Special Abilities: Can change his physical age every week(Mentally is 14). Bio: At the age of 10, wishing to be older so he could hunt monsters like his daddy, Tyler discovered he could change how old he looked, but only once a week, or else he got violently ill. He is now 14, and is on the side of the Society. Equipment/Belonging: One pair .44 Magnums, necklace given to him by his father which repels minor demons and deflects a little magic, bullet-proof vest which never leaves his sight. Wears baggy blue jeans, ammo/gun belt, loose dark-colored t-shirt, long black overcoat, steel-toed hiking boots. Has five magic bullets. Please respond as if he's too powerful(or not enough, I could pump him up to the point of insanity!). I would like to get this edited to both of our likings so as not to piss each other off too much. |
Character Name: Airan Sicer (Eye-run Siy-s-er)
Gender: Male Age: 20 (but passes for younger most of the time) Organization: The society Class: Gunslinger (“And a damn good one”) Special Abilities: Danger sense: No one’s one hundred percent sure where or when the ability originated, perhaps some lingering magic from generations of working with it, or maybe some ancient curse gone wrong, but all heirs to the Sicer line for at least the past few generations have been blessed with an inherent ‘sense’ which warns them of impending danger a few seconds ahead of time. Whilst it does little good against subtle attacks, it does give Airan enough warning to prepare him for an ambush. Bio: The Sicer family has been fighting The Dark as part of the society for centuries, and almost all heirs to the line have gone on to be at least notable demon hunters, endowing it with a reputation for strength and battle prowess. The fact that each generation has managed to survive long enough to sire the next is a testament to how well deserved this reputation is. The current head of the family, Sir. Carlton Sicer, a remarkable demon hunter himself in his younger days, who now holds a fair amount of sway within the society, had three children. The first was the noble son, the born demon hunter, the first born, you know the type. He was named Adam, because his father thought the name fitting, and his mother had no objections. The second was also a son, who his mother, declaring it was her turn to pick a name, called Airan, a name she had picked up on her travels with Sir Sicer so long ago. The final child was a daughter, who was named Sophia by both her parents agreement (something reached by hours of research and many more hours of arguing). As the years went on, Adam took to magic as a fish takes to water, and proved to be every bit the heroic demon hunter he seemed destined to be. Legends began circulating that he saved damsels in distress, villages haunted by ancient evils, and misunderstood street urchins by the boat load. Many a time was the single deciding factor holding the tide against a deranged warlord seeking to conquer the world. And he managed it all in time for tea. All of this was an exaggeration, of course, but not by very much. He was, in every aspect, a hero. Airan... was to magic what a lit match was to a dry forest on a hot sunny day. That is to say, a disaster. Some of the best teachers the society could offer attempted to teach him the simplest of sigils for years before giving it up as hopeless. In all that time he learned only one Sigel. Angered by his lack of progress and his parents clear disappointment with him, especially in comparison to his brother (and to a lesser extent his sister, who was displaying the same competency with magic as her oldest brother had), Airan devoted himself to another method of fighting. Namely, he abandoned magic for technology. He began to seek out the best training he could find outside of military service in the art of gun fighting. And to his happy surprise he found that he was good at it. Within months he was an ace shot with a pistol. A few more and he was an ace with two. And he continued to train harder and harder, until he could hit a target dead center 90 yards away dead center with one eye closed 4 times out of 5. And then, something tragic happened. Adam, ever the hero, gave his life in a noble strike at a powerful demon, killing it with his final breath. The memorial service was held a week later, the body sadly unrecoverable. And privately other families of the society began to talk of how weak the Sicer house had become with the loss of their main heir. Oh, it would probably rise again in a generation or two, and the girl was certainly good at magic, if not quite the hero Adam had been, but it had certainly suffered a great loss. Very little was said of Airan, and almost none of it was positive. And though they never voiced such thoughts aloud in his company, it showed in their eyes none the less. It would not have been so bad if he didn’t see the same thoughts echoed in his parents. His admittedly large number of success against the dark meant little in the shadow of his brothers legacy. And so he volunteered to guard the chosen, a mission that was certain to be nearly as dangerous as hell itself, and potentialy morally challenging to an extreme. He's been doing so for a few months now, pretending to be a few years younger than he actualy is to be in the same classes as the chosen. Should he succeed, perhaps his brothers ghost will stop haunting him. He has black hair and reddish-brown eyes that are easy to mistake for pure red. He generaly wears standard clothes for a teenager, though he does wear baggy clothes to hide his gunbelt in public. He knows the basics of Hand to hand combat, plus a few major weapon forms, like sword and bow staff, thingss that any demon hunter family would train in, but only the basics. He's better than a drunken bar braler, but against anyone with decent skill in combat, he's not going to do so well. Equipment/Belonging: 2 pistols strapped to his ammo belt around his waist, with one loaded backup hidden inconspicuously between his shoulder blades. In a container around his neck he carries 3 magic bullets his father provided him for luck on his mission, only to be used in the most dire of circumstances. He also carries a few written sigils of the one spell he was able to learn (which he has since practiced enough to do in his sleep) which creates a loud booming noise when used. |
If I wasn't already in so much stuff I would sign up as a Society allied teacher whom had not revealed himself yet to the mother of hell in the hopes of protecting her 'innocence' from knowing the truth of her situation. He would have practiced sigil magic regularly with one or two cool Incantation spells.
Alas I'm on the verge of GMing two of the four games I'm involved with. Also college stuff I've been ignoring. Do me proud on this rp NPFers. |
Title™s are people too.
Name: Rick McCarthy (Alias in school: Rob Smith)
Gender: Male Age: 16 Organization: The Society Class: Support: (Sigil Support Magic with some Offensive capability, Precision Physical Attacks, Adequate ranged combat) Special Abilities: Light and Sound manipulation: Through years of training as a child and being given the Amulet of Silent Darkness, Rick is able to manipulate Light and Sound very well, able to reduce, eliminate or amplify available light, and reduce, eliminate, amplify, or even mimic sounds. He is still working on ‘bending’ light, which seems above him right now. Blind Sense (able to see normally in absence of light and sound out to 30 feet, powered by years of training and the sigil carved in his back). He is still unable to see through any physical/metaphysical barrier. This is more to navigate in darkness he creates himself. This ability does not allow him to use any Precision Attacks, as he only sees shapes, not detail. Bio: Rick’s Training began almost at birth. His parents giving him up to The Society, who decided he would master the secrets of an ancient artifact they discovered. Almost immediately, they carved a permanent sigil in his back, and used it to force a kind of blindness/deafness on him. He lived in this void for the first 7 years of his life, learning how to live, how to use magic, how to fight. Upon reaching age 7, The Society ‘cured’ Rick of his blindness by inverting the power of the sigil inscribed on his back. Rick spent a year growing accustom to his new senses, and learning a little of the Amulet’s power. He was soon after enrolled in a normal school, just for appearances sake. When the Mother of Hell was discovered, he was immediately transferred to her school, even her class. His mission: his Life before the Mother of Hell’s. He is supposed to be completely unnoticed by any. He is to keep the lowest profile possible, and interact with the Mother of Hell as little as possible. (Should the inconceivable happen, Rick must be able and willing to eliminate the threat of an outbreak, so emotional attachment is a no-no.) Rick adopted the alias ‘Rob Smith’, believing it to be the most un-noteworthy and inconspicuous name possible. He spent most of his years in High School entirely unnoticed. (Even by teachers, who nearly failed him several semesters swearing he never showed up to class.) Only one person noticed, a girl in this year’s class. He had never seen her before, and was half scared, half annoyed that someone actually noticed him. She does interest him though, but he knows his Mission comes first. Now that Rick lives on his own, he has had more time to be more of a kid. His early years were spent in intensive training, he has now been kind of cut loose from the strict life he once had. The training has burned into him the need for a structured schedule, but Rick now takes more time to smell the roses (Or see them). Even though he regained his sight almost 9 years ago, he does not take it for granted. When he isn't concentrating on his mission, Rick will occasionally stop and stare at the city skyline, or observe an interesting texture in pavement. This goes for his hearing also, when not on task, he can be easily distracted by interesting sounds or music. While he was young, he spent alot of time reading books (Braile, because of blindness/deafness), and was fascinated by many subjects, such as philosophy, and stories of faraway places. He didn't usually have a problem with thinking about such things while training, but once his sight and hearing returned, he found that when relaxed, if he were thinking about any subjects while performing simple or complex physical activity, he would sometimes make mistakes. Long and the short of it: Rick can be quite clumsy. Mainly during his morning routines. Rob does not share this problem. Equipment: 8 Inch Tanto knife, hidden inside his sweatshirt, a brace of throwing knifes (in the sleeve of his sweatshirt), hooded sweatshirt, A Re-curve Longbow (At school. Excuse: Archery Club), Kendo Sword (At school. Excuse: Kendo Club) A 200lb Pull Compound Bow (Should things get hairy outside school), Katana (See Compound Bow) A Handful of Chem-Lights, a deck of playing cards (With a variety of Sigils written on the face sides), 2 pads of sticky notes (1 with many premade sigils, other blank), a pen, a grease pencil, a Sharpie brand Industrial Strength Marker, Normal Kid accessorys, Pad of blank hall passes, can of spray-on bandage, oh, and Arrows, assorted, almost forgot those, a bandage roll (I get hurt alot, and am not durable enough to be a tank), a small spool of thread, a needle, 1 Roll of Duct Tape, a Blindfold kept in his back pocket. Appearance: Rob looks completely normal for a high-school kid. Average build, average clothes, almost completely vanilla, save for the scar on his back (sigil) which looks ‘kind of cool’. People mistake him for ‘The new kid’ every day, but dismiss him as too normal. He tends to wear long-sleeved shirts. Specifics: 5'9", 185 Lbs, Average Looking Build, Brown Hair, Brown Eyes. Home: Rick legally has a small apartment near the industrial district (financed by the Society) under the name Rob Smith, but spends most of his waking (and non-waking moments) in an abandoned warehouse near his apartment. He uses this place as a make-shift training ground. When he's not there, save for possible remains of destroyed objects in the warehouse, both locations appear uninhabited. His only possession that is not relevent to his mission: His Palmtop Computer, because it serves no other function then as a makeshift journal for him, where he keeps notes of daily life, both pertaining to the mission and just random thoughts and ideas he has. He keeps this under his pillow, whereever that may be. Typical Magic used(Sigils memorized): Knock (Opens non-magically sealed doors, bypassing simple mechanical/electronic locks. May or May not suppress alarms.) Create Fire, Feather Fall, Dark Vision (Mostly for ally's), Message, Call Weapon (Sigils etched on Compund Bow and Katana), -Edited |

Hmmm...my character would fit better with the Society, but everyone and their mother seems to be going with that so they could have magically enhanced guns...
LOOKS LIKE AHM GONNA GET CREATIVE ON ALL YER ASSES. Character Name: Thomas Silva Gender: Male (and a damn good-looking one at that) Age: 26 Organization: The Fingers of Twilight. They're a very small, very select group of demon hunters, believed to be an off-branch that formed from The Society many years before. Should anyone find enough interest in themselves to look up the history on the Fingers, they would find next to nothing, except perhaps a few diary pages describing a group of Society Members that performed breeding experiments between humans and demons for a more efficient hunter. Of course, stories like that are just make believe. Class: Teacher (He teaches much, and teaches little. It all depends on how open your ears and mind are...) Special Abilities: Startling Appearance. He's very attractive, what with his long blonde hair and almost piercing blue eyes. He's the sub that all the girls want detention with. (I HAD a cool special ability, but...you know what? I don't feel like typing it. Look at my sig, and replace the word 'signature' with 'kick ass sword powers that can slice through galaxies for the hell of it.') Bio: Thomas Silva. Parents were Samuel Silva and Rosa Silva. Graduated with a degree in Education and Teaching from several institutions, somehow from all of them at once. He is a teacher. He teaches. Being a substitute teacher, he of course moves from school to school, sometimes from state to state, in order to teach. What does he teach? Why does he teach? No one knows. No one asks. If any asked, he would surely answer. After all, answering questions are what teachers do best. From the desk of a certain Society higher up, CONTENTS ARE CLASSIFIED Sir, upon your orders, we have researched into a one Thomas Silva. Rumors floating about of the Fingers of Twilight acting on their own seem to be correct. He has the markings of one. Of a half breed. James was ready to gut him then and there. However, he does not seem to have the characteristic aggression or underlying hostility that many half-breeds showed. In fact, he happens to be quite good natured. He has rarely ever frowned in all the time we have been watching him. None have come to harm that have crossed his path. The only concern we hold would be the magical power he seems to possess. As an offshoot of The Society, the Fingers have access to our arcane knowledge of the Incantation methods, and from our studies seem to be putting it into action. We have witnessed several incidences that could only be explained by a flagrant use of Incantation. A young boy skinning his knee on the playground was healed after sir Thomas mumbled into the boy's ear. A girl saddened from his class was suddenly cheered up with a shower of bright red balloons that mysteriously appeared from the ceiling. A rain cloud was shooed away to clear the day for a soccer game. In these incidences, no runes were used. Sir, we are requesting a larger inquisition into the activities of the Fingers. We do not yet know their full intentions, but by the actions of their members as of late, it seems to be focusing around the Mother of Hell. Thomas Silva himself is currently the substitute in one of her classes, almost as if he were planted there by his organization. If the Fingers are siding with us, we would greatly appreciate his help. However, if you hear word that they are seeking her death, please report back immediately so we may dispatch this would-be assassin. [END REPORT] Equipment/Belonging: A clean pressed white shirt. Khaki pants. Several thick books of varying topics in his tattered book bag. Thin-rimmed glasses that perch on his nose. A tin box filled with various gems and precious stones (focal points for the larger incantation rituals). Spellbook (in case he forgets some words to an incantation....what? Even teachers need a book that has the homework answers.) Four knives carved from a glittering black stone (likely obsidian). |
Just got off of work, and hell yeah I'm still deeply interested in being the Mother of Hell. Hit me up with dat PM, yo!

Young lady, we do not speak the language of the street in this classroom. *ruler crack*

Or rather, my imitation of the language of the street that infuriates Batgirl.
EDIT: The PM has been received and my profile is complete. Character Name: Laurella Kalvatine Gender: Female Age: 18 Organization: Official (S.E.C.A. Dependant) Class: Mother of Hell Special Abilities: None Bio: The blood daughter of Matthew and Alleone Kalvatine and the adopted daughter of S.E.C.A. agents Rick and Patricia Ferguson, Laurella has had to come to terms with her cursed destiny from an unbearably early age. Yet, she tries hard to put her best face on it and press onward regardless of the fact that any day, corpses could be made of the people she knows and loves just because of what she is: one who is destined to open the path to apocalypse or close it and save the world until something else comes along. In spite of her outlook on her own situation, Laurella forces some semblance of a normal life upon herself, such as trying to make friends and go out on dates. Mother of Hell she is, but a normal woman is what she believes herself to be first and foremost, and it's going to take a lot more than the brutal murders of her parents to prove her otherwise. Laurella stands about 5' 5" tall and weighs 107 pounds. Her hair is brown, and she styles it in a ponytail that hangs to her neckline. Her right eye is grey and her left eye is red. And her youthful body has developed well enough to draw plenty of eyes. Equipment / Belongings: A pendant with a photograph of Matthew and Alleone, a steel grey military-style girl uniform which she wears to school (think the SeeD Cadet uniforms from Balamb Garden in Final Fantasy VIII), and her personal diary. |
This is typical of my luck. An RP I want to join, and my computer dies on me, just long enough for an enormous amount of people to sign up for it. If you are still accepting players I would like to join too.

Character Name: Caleb Baltazar. "One shot" Caleb.
Gender: Male Age: 45 Organization: Vigilante hunter, formerly a Warden Physical discription: 5'8" 230lbs. Muscular. Thinning brown hair under a Fedora. Haunted blue eyes. Horribly scared body wrapped in a Trench coat. The gravely voice of a man who's seen too much. Class: Veteran Gunslinger Special Abilities: Mark of Life and Death: Caleb was born with a blessing upon his right arm. At the wrist a birthmark sits, in the shape of a small black ankh. It allows Caleb to channel his life energy into any weapon he wields with that arm. The effect of the attack varies based on how much life energy he expends. A year of life will create an effect, originating from the strike point, in a rough 12 yard radius. Any target(s) of Caleb's will, within the effect of the ability, will be killed in relation to the amount of life used. This is my rough scale. (I'd like to make it so I can use it more, but lets see what you think first eh Toasty?) 1 week: Least Demons, blast range 3 yard radius 1 month: Lesser Demon, blast range 6 yard radius 3 Months ( > & = relative to strength): Blood summoned, blast range 9 yard radius 6 Months: Demonic Hybrid, blast range 12 yard radius As for greater demons, probably enough to kill him as well. The blast is in the form of a bright white light. It burns away anything Caleb wants dead within the attack. There is no explosion or noise beyond that of the gun. Bio: Caleb's birth was actually predicted. Shortly after he was born holy men came to plead with the parents to allow them to train their son. The parents refused, not believing that demons existed in the earth plain. They followed a devout Christian faith. Caleb was brought up as a Christian. He was 15 when he first met a demon. While at a friends birthday party some of the kids sneaked away to the basement with a book of demon summoning. Thinking nothing of it they attempted to summon a demon from the pit. They were surprised beyond belief when the demon actually came out. The screaming brought Caleb and a few others to the basement. The Demon was attacking the children. Though grateful for being summoned he was not about to leave without having some fun. Caleb showing no fear grabbed hold of a golf club and attacked the creature. He used his ability naturally, the strike was followed by a brief flash of light. Then the demon was gone. The kids at the party were not about to believe what had actually happened. So they all made up a story about a badger to explain away the injuries the children had sustained. Caleb new the truth however. When Caleb's 16th birthday came around the Holy men came to visit again. Hoping the family would now let them take their son to be trained. His parents again refused. Caleb however knew in his heart that it was what he was meant to do. So that night he ran away from home, he found the holy men and went with them far away. To live in a mountain temple of another country. There he was taught about Demons and about how to use his abilities, as well as the price it cost. He was taught of the Mother of Hell and of the secret plague of Demons that existed. He trained until he was 22. He then was inducted as a Warden. He worked as a Warden for 15 years. Making friends, and becoming well known. He did his best to not use his ability. Time and again however he was forced to use it. He figures over all he used 8 years of his life up. He finally left the Wardens after a horrific incident. While checking out a rather large hell cult with 2 Warden friends, the three of them were lured into a trap. They were all three knocked unconscious before they had a chance to defend themselves. The three of them were tortured for 2 days. They were cut and scared all over their bodies. The procedure was done to weaken the body and mind, in order to allow them to be used for their true goal. Each one of them was to be used as a blood sacrifice. To summon Demons into the Earth plain. His friends were sacrificed first. Each one giving birth to an abomination against god. While Caleb was being dragged over to the summoning circle he managed to get his hands upon a small pebble on the ground. They chained him to the circle and began the incantation. Caleb channeled 3 full years of his life into the Pebble. More then he had ever before used. He dropped the pebble to the ground. There was a flash of light, a short chorus of screams from those inside the room, then silence. It took 2 more days of laying alone in the darkness before other Wardens came to find out the fate of the three. They found Caleb laying on the ground, nearly dead. They quickly freed him and took him to a hospital. It was too late to save him from the horrible scaring that covers his body. They did however save his life. He was never the same after that. He quit the Wardens, and went to work as a private detective. Occasionally doing small time demon hunting. He has spent nearly 10 years in the bottle, but he still remains one of the best Hunters out there. Equipment/Belonging: His main weapon is a special made 8 shot .44 magnum. He owns quite a large assortment of guns however (I could name guns all day but you get the idea). He still has 12 magic bullets from his Warden days. Including one that cost him over $1000. A specially crafted shot he simply calls 'Armageddon'. He had it made after his incident. Edit-M107 50 cal sniper rifle, its deadly and pretty. A tour de force. He wears conservative clothing to hide his scars. Long sleeved shirts under a trench coat. Jean pants and combat boots. He always has a bottle of Booze on him. Ok I think thats everything. Let me know, we can talk about it in PM if you want. Also I figure he'd probably be an old friend or acquaintance of "Red eye" Jackson. |
Character Name: Kasey Morgan (case)
Gender: Male Age: 17 Organization: Warden Class: Umm.. Biker Monk (see the description below) Special Abilities: he knows a bit about sigil magic, more things that are useful for combat and detective work (he prefers to use everyday items to make his sigils, a true sight sigil may be inscribed on a pair of sunglasses, or a communication sigil on an earring Bio: Kasey was raised among one of the Romani families that still travel around the US keeping to the nomadic lifestyle of thier gypsy ancestors Some Basic Information about his fighting style: He's more of a melee fighter, preferring to get close in. His fighting style is a hodgepodge of several "hard" styles that he calls "Ass Kick Fu" Equipment/Belonging: Custom "Supertrike" motortrike, Slightly beat up black leather jacket (with kevlar armor pads sewn into the lining) White muscle shirt, Studded fingerless black driving gloves with spirit strike sigils engraved into the studs, Black engineers boots, metal chain link belt (silver) with an iron padlock for a buckle. |
I'll take a spot if they're still open, going to go Warden recruited to a Religious Society, but I'm at work so I'll post my character later today.
Basics: Name: Harold "Harm" Harden Gender: Male Age: 34 Organization: Blood of Saints (BOS), a division of the secret societies of the Vatican. Class: Knight Protector Special Abilities: Telekinetic: Can burn his essential energy to physically affect objects in contact with him, mostly limited to small objects and self protection. Bio: At roughly 5' 8" and 240lbs, Harm looks slower than he is. His healthy tan and easy smile make many forget that when pushed he can put his fist through a rhino, without using his powers. Harm has been involved in the martial arts since childhood, beginning with basic Wing Chun and eventually branching into other areas to round out his skills. Originally a Warden, but recruited in BOS after the incident that killed his family. A group of Satanists in deeper than they knew were attempting to summon a demon, an elder demon. Harm's cell managed to find them, but at heavy casualties and not in time to stop the whole summoning. Harm and two other Wardens managed to finish off the weakened cult members, but were unable to stop the demon. Harm survived only because the demon decided it wanted to have more fun with him. It dragged him back to his home and slaughtered his family in front of him, first raping his daughter and wife and then tearing them limb from limb. BOS was the group that showed up and shoved the demon's head up its own ass before dispatching it. The leader of the strike team, Solinus, cleansed the souls of his family and offered Harm a place in their ranks. Solinus later became the leader of BOS and remained a huge influence in Harm's life, keeping him from insanity. Harm passed up promotion after promotion over the years to stay active in the field. He has a deep hatred of all demons that pushes him far past the limits of the 'normal' paranormal, often resulting in harm to himself. Harm eats, sleeps and breaths the destruction of the demon forces and those who aid them. Fortunately for the Mother, his group supports her continued existence as a means to combat hell's forces. Harm is employed at the school as a grounds keeper, allowing him to wander about looking busy while not doing too much. Combat Style: Harm is generally a melee fighter, utilizing and meshing the principals of SWAT hand to hand, Jiujutsu, Akijitsu, Judo, Hop Kido, Philipino Weaponry, Chi Gung, Wing Chun, American Boxing and Kung Fu. Harm is unable to craft sigils, but is trained in triggering sigils already cast. Belongings/Equipment: Harm is normally dressed in grey coveralls with scuffed work boots and an old school basketball hat worn backwards . He keeps his hair cut short and his back straight, he can't hide the years of discipline that have shaped him. Despite a bluff appearance many students trust him and seek him out for help outside of the academia, which he is happy to offer as long as it doesn't interfere with his ‘second job’. Harm keeps a room at the mansion as well as a small apartment roughly equidistant from both school and mansion. It is a humble place, but well kept with a lawn that is the envy of the neighbors. Fists of Doom: Yeah, his hands are registered as lethal weapons. Constantine's Guard (relic): A permanent Sigil granted to the protector of the Mother, this sigil appears normally as a silver ring, but when activated it summons a suit of armor best suited to the wearer's combat style. For Harm it encases his body in a tight silver metallic material that hardens when impacted, serving as a sort of kinetic dampener against penetration. BOS Knight's crest: Talisman worn around his kneck identifying him as a ranking knight as well as a sigil granting the ability to see the paranormal normally hidden from human sight. This remains inactive normally and can only be used for a short time due to the heat generated and the necessity to keep in contact with it when active. Arrows of Jonathan: The Arrows are a set of heavy leather gauntlets that allow corporeal contact with the incorporeal, very handy, but they drain Harm's ability greatly and remain a last resort. Sword of Solomon (relic): Given to Harm by Solinus when he was given the assignment to protect the Mother, this is the sword passed down from David to Solomon and one of the more powerful relics possessed by the Knighthood. Faith is essential in wielding the Sword. The sword is essentially a bane of demons, it harms them more than a normal blade and wounds inflicted by it resist healing. Sigils known: Blood of Saints: This sigil is inscribed across the right side of Harm’s chest and down his right arm. Harm received this once he took the duty as a protector. Once activated Blood holds the body and soul together for a short time after they should have parted, allowing for the completion of a sworn oath. This sigil is only to be used in the most dire of circumstances, its use puts the wielder before Judgment and if the reason is deemed unworthy the soul is banished to oblivion. It isn't pretty, but you're dead anyway. |
Detailed enough for you?
Well, I left my sign up sheet at home and I'm typing this at college, but I couldn't help but notice Raiden that your sign up mentioned a "James" in the society wanting to kill him.
That could not be farther from the truth!!! (much) I would also like to point out that I wanted either a martial artist demon hunter, or some sort of biker, but those were taken whilst I was sleepin'. So I must now announce the bare bones that i can remember of my revised character. Character Name: Task Malben Gender: XY!!!! Age: 16 Organization: Vigilante/Society Class: Thief! Special Abilities: Knows Prince of Persia esque Parkour running, limited magic ability. Bio: An orphaned thief, living it up in a mansion by himself. It certainly doesn't happen very often, but this was because it wasn't HIS mansion. The land had once belonged to a great wealthy old geezer tied to a strange lodge club of other old geezers, and they apparently wore robes and said incantations. Of course the old guy was dead now, having been killed by something or other. Word was he was killed by some sort of monster, and his place was haunted, but Task had always countered it was probably because he was OLD. Strong winds have slain greater old men. On a dare after middle school, the often picked on Task was forced to enter the creepy estate and see if he could find a way in and bring out a sign of the man's horrible demise. A blood soaked bedsheet or shirt was preferable. This proved to be no hard feat, as Task was one who was always running, always looking for a way out of the things that menaced him. Especially the bullies giving him trouble now. He'd fallen in with the some of the free running crowd, who ran along walls, ran up buildings, and slid down rails with their feet. They did it for fun, they did it for artistic expression. Task found himself doing it to get the hell out of trouble, and occasionally into it. Few things could keep out a thief who could run up a wall, leap over to a nearby tree and then rebound back up the building, right into an open window. Which was precisely how he got into the mansion. The insides were empty, drafty, yet very brightly colored, with blindingly whitewashed walls and a deep crimson carpet over a marble floor. The place...she was a beaut. Statues, grand dining room complete with candles and preset tableware, a fireplace in every room, more than enough bathrooms for a diarrheatic convention, and there was even a private theater. HOOKED TO CABLE! The place was delight to visit, and Task had a great time wandering it's halls...at least...at least until he saw the bloodstain. It was splattered on the nearby whitewall, like a splash of red paint, and it dripped ominously. Task noticed the door opposite the bloodstain, and despite not wanting to, looked. The room was a mess. The place had been wrecked something fierce, the sheets ripped and torn and lying in an amount of blood that could not possibly have just come from an old man. The bed was in two, crushed in the center, and large claw marks raked everything. Including another flatscreen tv and a collection of solid gold statues of other famous old guys. It looked like something out of a horror story. And little did Task know...it was. He knew he had to grab a sample of it. He didn't have to prove himself to anyone, but at least it might get those stupid jerks to leave him alone for sometime. Yeah. HE'd be the kid who brought back the ragged blood stained piece of cloth, and everyone else would think he was some sort of psycho. Of course, he could get in trouble with the feds for tampering with a possible crime scene, but what were they going to do? Prison seemed better than the orphanage. He sauntered into the room, making sure not to get blood on his shoes and leave any bloody footprints for others to follow, and reached over to the bed. As his hands reached onto the sheets and tugged...he felt a sudden prick on his palm. He pulled the covers over, and revealed a large ornate dagger lying upon the bed, it's end poking through the sheets. Checking his hand, he felt a sudden moment of deep dread. It grew and grew to the point that he could no longer stand it, and then...a trickle of blood began to seep from his hand. As if a billion klaxons in his head went off, the room suddenly became less "Awesome!" and more "Hellish". He thought he heard noises. He felt a billion eyes staring upon him. Deep breaths. Slithering. And then....a roar. Two eyes suddenly stared at him, their fierce intensity burning away every other eye and noise. Task instinctively ran out of the room like a bolt, and sensing as if something would follow him, he slammed the door behind him. Even then, that did not seem like enough...the presence was coming. It would rip right through that door. It would devour him..... The door. It must be locked. Task looked down to see there was key in the door handle he was holding. How fortuitous. He quickly twisted the key, heard the lock "click" and stepped back. The door, which once seemed as frail as particle board, now seemed stronger, impenetrable. A light green glow flowed from some ornate markings on the door Task had not noticed until now, and the sudden sense of dread was gone, replaced by a sense of peace.... After that, Task went home as pale as a ghost. But in the days to come, he found himself drawn to that place. He would return to amble through it's halls and and explore every nook and cranny, but stay as far away from that bedroom as humanly possible. It was possible too, what with 5 different ways to get to any spot in the building, from lateral elevators, outdoor paths, secret servant passages. No sliding bookcases, though. Or at least, he didn't find any. With time, Task ran away from the 'home' he stayed in, with the dozens of other unwanted children and began to live in the mansion, alone. No one ever came to the house, servants, caretakers, cleaners or otherwise to cut the grass or clean up the mess in the master bedroom, and for that Task was thankful. The amenities never were cut off, and there was actually plenty of food stocked away in the many fridges and storage rooms about the house. (Granted, most of them using some form of Prunes) Here he honed his free running techniques, safe from bullies and the law, and lived about as up as you could. I'll go more indepth in my posts however, as just describing how awesome it was for a young orphan thief living in a great mansion would make this already long post too long. To make a long story short, eventually someone did come to the mansion. A lot of someones. Old geezers in robes, young men with swords and shiny emblems, and even a few handguns came to play. As a thief, Task was quick to hide and remain hidden, watching unobserved from corners and ceilings. Within minutes however, Task knew what they were after, and he cringed. They were concerned about that room. They knew what had happened in there and were returning eventually to clean it up, but something recently drew them there, and they had to investigate. Task was afraid. What would happen if they opened that door? Would that thing escape? Was it even real? Would they be mind that he let loose something in the manor? Or ate all those prunes? To his shock, their leader, a really old guy, did not open the door. He walked through it, the glowing symbol becoming what looked to be some sort of portal. Within a few moments, he returned, holding the ornate dagger carefully, with glowing gloves that seemed to protect him. But then, something bad happened. With a silent wave of his hand, there was a floating red dot in front of the dagger. And that red dot began to move, creating a line as it went. This glowing red line moved and snaked around...and headed for task. Task did not know what was going on. Only he knew that this thing might give him away, and that could only lead to trouble. He inched away down the hall, quickly and quietly, until he felt a presence before him. It was less ominous than the one he felt in the room, but for practicality purposes, it was just as bad. One of those young guys with swords was there, holding his aforementioned weapon at Task's head. Task turned around to see the old guys in robes, and the red line snaking ever closer. Task recoiled back, only to feel the tip of the sword poking his spine, and suddenly the red line lashed out, grasping his hand. His hand burned , the roar returned, and Task screamed as he collapsed to the floor. The next thing he knew, he was lying down in a bed in another room of the mansion His hand was bandaged and throbbing, but even weirder was the glove covering the bandage and the headband upon his head, each adorned with another symbol, and colored green. The next few days were a blur, rushed along by stern old men who scared the shit out of the normally very anti-authority task. There was harsh tutoring in algebra and literature of all things, teachings of symbols, lore, and of a very surreal history which a large part Task did not believe to be anything more than fairy tales. Then, there was some very real things happening. Photos taken. Haircuts. Fingerprints taken. Adoption papers, countless signings, and even at one point there was a body training instructor who scared Task so much Task ran up the wall, leapt over to the light fixture and swung his way into the ceiling boards. It was a shortlived victory however, as they soon caught him again and he was soon worked hard to improve upon THAT too. He was taught to use daggers, at such a speed that they used real daggers and hoped the bloodloss would be an incentive to improve quickly. The point of all of this? The group who discovered him was it's own portion of the Society, suspecting that there were other factions seeking to put a stake either on or in the new mother of hell, and these did not trust the others. They needed a nobody with the requisite skills, but even in the super secret cults it was hard not to dig up something on someone else, either with money or magic. So when a literal nobody with some fairly decent skills pops up with a newfound magic ability.... He was placed into the same school as the mother, but not in her grade. He was to keep a Full Metal Panic distance away from her at all times, yet watch her, be the eyes and ears of the select few of elders. In return, he would be taken care of in the mansion, and trained to be a respectable member of the society. While this wasn't entirely all that great, he soon learned the reason for his newfound magic powers and the reason why he wanted to remain with the society. His physical training instructor gave it to him as delicately as possible. "You're as demon possessed as hell. I mean, there are people who are pretty fucked out there, but you are beyond them. You are royally, majorly fucked. You have no chance in hell. An unnamed elder demon who knows only chaos, hatred, destruction, and pain beyond pain is connected to you by that knife cut you got like an umbilical cord. You are like a snowflake on the sun. You aren't gonna die, but you will suffer an eternity of such unpleasance that will make you wish you could kill yourself beforehand, but that would just speed up the process to your torment. Now, stop showing that retarded look and give me 100 push ups, and then Shit tzu over there is going to make you do some more of that kungfu monkey stuff." Equipment/Belonging: Aside from his sneakers and his sneaking gloves, he carries around a pair of concealed knives on his person at all times, but can also carry a sword. In the way of magic, he carries about a stack of post-it notes carrying the sigil for "unlock" and for "explosion". The gloves and headband he wears keeps him from becoming possessed by a demon, and also allow for a bit of filtering that leaks him out an amount of magical energy for sigils and chants, and various other magic necessary stuff. He only shares 2 classes with the mother of hell, a gym class and an extra course (whatever. Home Ec, Shop, Theater, Art. Spanish, etc. No matter what other class she's in other than core classes. No one notices this though.) I'll pm you the Demon bit, He who B-burns toast, for your approval or rejection. I hope you approve, or Kitty will be sad! |
Name: Brent Malar
Gender: Male Age: 18 Organization: The Society Class: Sigil Mage Special Abilities: Respectable skill with sigil magic Bio: Brent comes from a long line of spellcasters, and began demonstrating magical affinity at a young age. Thanks to his parents' respected status, his aforementioned skill with magic, and his lack of siblings, Brent is self-centered and egotistical. He relies on his talents, loves to show off, and craves attention. Equipment: A deck of homemade cards printed with sigils. Favored spells: Combustion - Creates a small burst of flame. Condensation - Absorbs water vapor and condenses it, creating liquid water. Effectiveness varies with the humidity. Shatter - Loudly generates the sound of breaking glass. Numb - Dulls nerves. Generally used to temporarily ease the pain of an injury. Requires direct contact. Sparkle - Creates a small cloud of tiny glimmering lights that the caster can manipulate. Quicken - Induces a rush of adrenaline to enhance strength and reflexes. Requires direct contact. Warmth - Radiates soft heat. Laser - Fires a short-range beam of magical energy that cuts through normal matter. If any of this is uncool, I'll fix it. |
It's been a very long time since I've been back on these forums it'll be good to participate with all of you again.
Character Name: Michael Amon-Sena Gender: Male Age: 16 Organization: The Society Class: Ward Mage: A Ward Mage is the definition of a reactionary force; a ward mage practices the combination of sigil and incantation magic to fashion guards and traps against intruders. None of the Ward Mage's abilities are offensive in nature, their abilities only act in reaction to an enemies. A Ward Mage's abilities are fashioned for defense, and thus in most cases have no destructive power. Special Abilities: None Bio: Michael's derives from a long line of servants that have worked under the families of the society since near its inception. Since the dawn of the society, the Sena line has been tasked with the protection of Society members on their dangerous missions. The Sena family members have all, bar none, accepted this role with equanimity. In accordance with this, the Sena line has a long tradition of practicing defensive magic, though some members have practiced the view of 'The best defensive is a good offenense'. This core of the families beliefs has evolved into a usage of magic in its own right. In the present age the Sena family has grown from a line of singular lineage, to a great distant family of wide ranging distances. Sena families may be found in all countries that hosts a Society presence. As a rule, any Sena famies member is bound to help a Society member within their area. Each Sena family has contact with other families around their area, and for greater missions more can be called in. This connection and heirarchy of the Sena family owes much to the advent of the internet; which has facilitated easy communications. The Sena family has their own private Autonamous System containing almost all the information a member may aquire. The Sena family has, however, grown out of being servants; though some still walk that path. Sena's are found in all proffessions, from janitors to doctors. Michael is from one of the such branch families of the Sena. The Amon family is of small repute to those outside the Sena; his particular line has not participated in much more then the extrications of lesser demons. However, within the Sena family the Amon are widely praised. For generations they have been in charge of the flow of information between Sena members; in addition the Amon are the ones that conceived and created the Sena database. The servers and hardware that hosts the database and communication system are located within Amon holdings. Michael himself is a standard member of the Sena family. Since birth he has trained in the art of warding magic, and has been taught he ancient traditions of service and protection. Michael has had no tragedies or horrors in his life; except for the nature of his family and his abilities he has lead a very normal life to this point. It was mere luck that placed him in the high school, and many of the classes of the Mother of Hell. It was decided by the Sena family that with someone already in place, there was no need to file the paperwork to send in another member. On his personality, Michael is very even tempered and reticent to speak. He is the perfect example of someone who is oft overlooked; he generally makes no grand statements and does not like to show off or posture for his peers. Michael stands at 5'10'' and weighs in at 143 lbs. He has brown eyes and short brown hair combed to the right side of his head. His face is very nondescript, having no real defining qualities besides its regularity. He tends to wear light plain clothes, such as a white shirt and pair of jeans. Equipment/Belonging: Michael practices his Sigils with a variety of objects. When intending to be inconspicuos, he uses a tablet laptop computer to write out sigils, or the use of a marker. When there is no need to be inconspicous, he tends to use sand to mark his sigils. |
What? No one has called the demon who is a good guy for some odd reason? This is striking me as a very cliche RP (I mean, even Raiden joined), so I assumed there would be one. In fact, there should be.
So, I guess I'll call the good demon. I didn't see any actual rule against playing a demon. |
Technically, my guy is a half breed. Though only superficially, since he doesn't actually get any demonic powers.
He looks hot, though. Dante and Vergil have made many a girl squee in her pants. |
Seeing as no one is going S.E.C.A:
Character Name: Simon Smith. Codename, "Longshot". Gender: Male Age: 29 Organization: S.E.C.A Class: Soldier/Sniper Special Abilities: Simon is an average human. The only special abilities he has are his training; Weapons, tactics, CQC. He is a soldier and as such, is trained in such things. Bio: A former SAS sniper, Simons team was called in during a hostage situation 6 years ago. A Hell cult had taken 13 people hostage and a stand-off insued. Simon was the sniper called in in preperation for an assault. After the negotiations had "failed", his team was sent in and the cultists, attempting to raise a demon, panicked and began the final part of their 5 day ritual 2 days early, systematically slaughtering the hostages. But it seemed that the ritual had worked, to an extent, as something slipped through into our world and a demon fused itself with one of the cultists. Smiths team was cut down, but managed to fatally wound the demon, while Smith, the only sniper, in fact, the ONLY person outside of the building who could see the horrors within, did what he was trained to do. He put the final bullet in the creature, slaying it. After that event he began his own investigations and eventually uncovered a great deal of intel on this unseen world he had glimpsed. A short while later he was recruited by S.E.C.A, where his skills and training would serve him well. He is now a high ranking member of the organisation, often co-ordinating things on the ground with orders from HQ. Whatever he wants/needs, he can get it, immediately. His current assignment is recon and surveilance on The Mother of Hell. S.E.C.A are watching and observing from afar, ready to act if needed. Equipment/Belonging: A fully customised, top of the line Steyr HS50 sniper rifle is his pride and joy, even though it is rarely used these days. It breaks down into numerous parts which can be carried on his person, rather than in a case for easier transportation. Also wields a Desert Eagle .50 sidearm. In most situations in the field though, he uses the standard issue MP5 assault rifle. Also caries a hunting knife. He can of course aquire pretty much anything of military grade though, and whenever he needs it. I'm not sure if that bio really fits with your demons TB, but hopefully you'll allow it. I came up with that before seeing the info on how the demons work, but I kinda like it. |
Character Name: Gael Blanc
Gender: male Age: 15 Organization: D'arc, a religious organization that continues the mission of Jehanne D'arc (Joan of Arc for you non frenchies) and protects the world, specifically women, from demonic threats. Fairly new as far as secret societies go, D'arc earned their reputation during the earlier parts of WWII, working with the French underground to hold German occultic weapons at bay. Class: Acolyte. Special Abilities: laying of hands. Gael can heal most flesh wounds by touching the injured area and channeling holy energy into the site. This cannot heal poison (too extensive), terminal illnesses (violates the natural order), or even anything as serious as a broken bone. Also is very tiring for more than minor injuries. Bio: Gael was born and raised in the Alsace region of France, near the German border. As a younger child, he showed a natural awareness of the spirit world around him, drawing the attention of his uncle, Gustav, who had him recruited into D'arc. There he spent the next decade, training both as a priest and a demon hunter. Of course, with the Mother of Hell around again, someone needed to be sent to America to keep an eye on things. While a more experienced member would have been preferable, Gael was the only one around the right age, and as a result was 'volunteered' for the assignment. Equipment/Belonging: The holy relic plume d'ange. As the name implies, plume d'ange is a dagger made of a petrified angel feather. It measures just shy of 2 feet in length (blade), and functions as a normal dagger unless being used on a possessed individual. At that point it passes through the humans flesh, damaging the demon only. An ornately carved celtic cross. Nothing special about it, just looks cool. (Happy to provide any further details upon request) |
Gir: Ixnay on the ercenarymay. There's enough people on both sides of the issue with money that those who chose the Protectors wouldn't want a loose cannon like a mercenary in there. I'll also allow you have a handful of sigil bullets (by handful I mean four or five), but once you use them, that's it. By hideously expensive, I mean hideously expensive, like every time you use one you have to think “Is this target really worth using a $400 bullet on?” And no, you can’t make your own magic bullets…that well beyond the skill of a person who hasn’t spent the last 15 or so years of their lives devoted to magic. I’ll let you keep the necklace, but it will only work on possessing demons…and I’ll give you very limited magic defense. It certainly won’t repel a direct hit of any spell, but might take the edge off a near-miss or something.
Steel Shadow: Well done. Approved. Loki: A few changes, if you please. No translocation (most things involving teleporting leads to god-modding in my experiences), create food/water is iffy…bread and water at the most (it might even taste good if you’re lucky), call weapon and return object need to have a set range…we’ll call it a half mile for call weapon, 50 yards for return object. I’m also going to limit the call weapon to 3 of your weapons. I’m also going to call True Strike a complex spell…you’ll need at least 20 seconds to cast it…that’s a long time in a fight. Raiden: You character’s name is Thomas? I’m shocked! :D Seriously, though, it looks alright. I can trust you to not go over top, right? ….Right? Mintaro: It looks alright…I’d rather not have you use your powers too often, so I like the formula you have right now…sorry. And if you want, him and Jackson can know each other. Pyros: Basic concept looks alright…but yeah…details would be good. MammothTank: Looks alright. Incendius: Looks alright, approved. IHMN: I’d rather have everyone be a human to some extent…but if you come up with something good, I’ll let it slide. And me? Run a cliche RP? You're mad! Mad mad mad mad mad! Hawk of Battle (assuming he’s fake-banned and not real-banned): Yay, someone finally went with S.E.C.A. ^_^ !!! Looks good. Myst: Looks good. Approved. To those who sent me a PM Replies will be in your boxes shortly. To Anyone who still wants to sign-up: Go ahead…a large group at starts means a good-sized group later when people drop out (as they are wont to do in my RPs, I’ve noticed). If you want a friendly tip…we seem to be a little Society heavy…so…::hint hint…cough cough:: Questions, comments, concerns, accusations of favoritism? |
Bitch, you forgot me.
And the cheap ass knock-off biker guy who does pretty much exactly what my guy does. Oh, and Hawk is fake-banned. |

cheap ass knock-off biker guy that likely has a golf bag filled with baseball bats, hockey sticks, and golf clubs, and will probably be wearing a goalie mask?
And Toastie. My friend. You know me. Why would you even ask such a thing? <.< |
Quote:
|
yeah, I saw there was some similarities there K, and did some editing, I decided to go more with sigil magic than an innate power. AS far as the Golf bag goes.... It's not Casey Jones... Kasey Johnson.... ok... damn.. I've gotta change that last name....

Name: Elissa Crestin
Gender-Race: Female, Caucasian Age: 36 Organization: S.E.C.A Class: Gunslinger-ish SWAT-esque Person Special Abilities: She's a sure shot and pretty bright. Those count, right? >> Bio: Elissa is a vulgar-mouthed, little patience brunette that's set her world schema on, "I've seen more shit in one day's work than most the world ever has. I'm entitled to my bitchiness and cynicism." She worked her way into the Atlanta SWAT Team by the age of 27, when the orders were given out to take out a 'suspected' meth lab, Elissa and her team never expected to crash their way into a do-it-yourself demon seance. After her entire squad, including a lot of her friends, had been dispatched before appropriate forces came to dispatch the menace, she was drafted into the S.E.C.A. She's somewhere between 5'7 and 5'9, but whenever addressed about it she simply responds "5 and enough feet." It's hard to really get a good grasp on her size with the heavy combat suit she wears on the job, but outside of the career, she's definitely what most would all an 'atheltic' build. She's not gorgeous, but behind the hardened face she's puts up are uncanny features of beauty like high cheek bones, a broad smile with heavy lips, and the faintest dimples on each cheek. If she led a different life, her figure and features might be a lot more noticeable. Drinking, smoking, fighting, yelling, shooting at things -- all hobbies that cause and relieve stress and things she does to get over the day. She's not a stranger to humor or a regular, fun, hang out time, but such things are rare for her. Equipment: M60 M-16 with the M203 grenade launcher attachment .45 ACP Handgun x2 (Strong enough to blow holes in concrete!) Several rounds of ammo of varying, typical demon handling attribute, grenades and typical light combat gear placed in easy to access places about her person. (Vest pockets, straps, backpack, etc) _______ Hope I didn't miss anything ^^;; S'been awhile. I don't know much about the apparent manga, but I'll try my best to keep up. <.< |
Approved Mesden, welcome to the party.
And don't worry about not knowing about the manga...it's a rather obscure title...and truthfully wasn't that great...the concept just odd enough to hold my interest. Quote:

I EDITED UPZORS MY CHAR!
If my PM to you didn't inform you of this fact. My bad. I slept all day with the flu! Kitty has mew-kus. |
Quote:
Technically, anything can be used as a medium or writing for a sigil. You could draw it in a patch of sand and get the same effect as having etched in a diamond. But, again, the sigil has to be somewhat exact, so I don't know if spraypaint would be the best for it. As a sidenote: I think I've gotten more PMs sent to me in the last 24 hours than I've had in my entire time here. Is it just me or is the pressure mounting?:sweatdrop |
|
Thats my character! Birthmark of power GO! Also If someone wants my character could probably use a student working part time as his secretary or something. Krylo I'm looking at you.
|
Alright Pyros...it's looks passable...in a cowthulu kind of way.
Anyways, that's all you people are getting from me tonight. I'm going to go watch the Mythbusters rerun, then I'm going to bed. I have the next two days off, so I'll be able to check more often and, hopefully, answer questions quicker. Night, y'all. |
Well, I guess a few things about my character:
-He's very charismatic, and does like the womens. He's going to be very likely hitting on almost every woman in the RP at some point, even the NPC female students. All the girls want detention with teacher... -The Fingers of Twilight is like the redheaded stepchild to The Society. Most Society members well-enough in the know would recognize that group, and most likely have...non-friendly feelings towards them. Not violent or hostile, but more like "Goddamn, it's that guy again" feelings. |
Got home and finished my profile with Toasty's guidelines. Isn't she so hawt that it makes you want to defend her with your life because she's going to be horribly, horribly raped, murdered, or raped and then murdered by Greater Tentacle Demons?
|
Well, I decided that a demon PC could at least lead to various interesting scenes, so I figured I'd try and make one. Instead of making the entire thing first, figured I'd see what is plausible. Not PMed because you are apparently flooded with those.
Demonic Hybrid with a hunter. Hunter goes in, kills some cultist trying to summon, gets mortally wounded. The being summoned demon makes a deal to keep him alive by taking his body, desperate hunter agrees, they fuse. Various possibilities (Hunter winning, overriding personalities, etc) lead to demonic hybrid being a protector. Religious organization A has a demon, like Hellsing with Alucard. S.E.C.A./Society has a demon, like Hellboy. A Fallen attempting to regain his place in Heaven by closing the Gates of Hell. Weakened somehow, probably stripped of power. Outcast who wants to close the Gate so his demon lord can't come get him. Again weakened somehow, probably injury during escape. Edit - Also, what is the extent of mythology in this? Is every religion right? Are all myths true? Are fantasy writers writing non-fiction? |
Grarh. Stuff happened today- no sign up sheet now. Tomorrow.

Character Name: Zack Freemont
Gender: Male Age: 15 Organization: Society Class: Prodigy incantation mage Special Abilities: Seraphic Guardian: Unlike most people, Zack is able to communicate with his guardian angel. He can also cause it to manifest for short periods of time using a 30 second incantation, during which time it can only defend him, not attack. The defences rendered by the Seraphic Guardian amount to what a normal human could do (interpose oneself between the charge and an incoming projectile, grapple defensively with an attacker, etc.) with the exception that a Seraphic Guardian is able to deflect low- to mid-level sigil spells. Doing this drains the Seraphic Guardian's power very quickly, however, and it can only do so about three times before disappearing to recuperate. Duration of effect is three minutes without any spell deflection or until three spells have been deflected, whichever comes first. Deflecting a spell costs one minute of summon time. Zack's grandfather is a member of the Society, unbeknownst to the rest of the family. Except Zack, that is. Zack unexpectedly walked in on his grandfather casting a very powerful incantation, and in return for remaining silent, his grandfather promised to teach him everything he knew. Zack turned out to be a magical prodigy, quickly mastering the art of sigil magic and moving on to incantations. Now a sophomore in high school, Zack has been assigned to protect the Mother of Hell. While he is never below using sigil magic, his incantations are his greatest strength. His family is very rich and well-known, and were they to find out about his... talent... it would have long-reaching repercussions. Equipment/Belonging: Zack keeps a large deck of sigil cards on his person at all times. He has dozens of these decks, each consisting of unique assortments of cards. The quality and workmanship of these decks varies as well, with some being simple solid-colored cards with a single, simple sigil drawn on them, to cards that resemble the most high-quality tarot cards one could buy. For ease of use, Zack also has a few protective sigils tattooed onto his arms, legs, and back, so that he is always touching them. Other than that, he carries a small, cherrywood wand topped with a ruby, which he uses as a focus for his incantations. |
Ok my character is updated and ready for approval/nerfing!
EDIT: Again!! |
Still only me and Mes in S.E.C.A? Oh well.
I suppose this means the pair of us will be working together, seeing as how it's a government agency and they're hardly going to have numerous operatives working solo on the same thing. Oh and I call dibs on the nukes Mes, if and when they are needed. It's quite good knowing you're one of the few people who can unleash some of the most devastating weapons in an entire RP! EDIT: Slight addition to my character. Added a codename based on his notourious skills, and added an extra line in the equipment section. |
Heh, yeah good call on Mes not having the nuke button, I can just picture the tyrannical horror of having her itchy finger on the "We all die so there!" button. *shudder*
Looks like this should be very interesting. Here's hoping we don't kill each other! Cheers! |
ok, here's a final of Kasey
Character Name: Kasey Dravenoft (case) Gender: Male Age: 17 Organization: Warden Class: Umm.. Gypsy Biker (see the description below) Special Abilities: he knows a bit about sigil magic, more things that are useful for combat and detective work (he prefers to use everyday items to make his sigils, a true sight sigil may be inscribed on a pair of sunglasses, or a communication sigil on an earring Bio: Kasey was raised among one of the Romani families that still travel around the US keeping to the nomadic lifestyle of thier gypsy ancestors. Often Wardens would travel with the clan to make it easier to hide (generally the law seems to take a dislike to private hunters, and sometimes try to pin the unexplained on the hunters themselves.) Things went well for kasey, one of the hunters that came by from time to time was Nat Jackson, who gave just enough of a look of the lifestyle to snare young Kase. He (Kase) learned what he could of the Sigil Magic from the Drabani and learned fighting wherever he could. His time spent with the Drabani has made him an introspective, quiet youth. One night after his initial training was complete, his teacher had a vision. In the vision Kasey was standing before a great gate, sword in hand, With Nat and several others at his side. He loaded up his belongings on his trike and immediately left in search of Nat. Some Basic Information about his fighting style: He's more of a melee fighter, preferring to get close in. His fighting style is a hodgepodge of several "soft" and grappling styles that he calls "Ass Kick Fu" along with some knife fighting mixed in Equipment/Belonging: Custom "Supertrike" motortrike, Slightly beat up black leather jacket (with kevlar armor pads sewn into the lining) White muscle shirt, Studded fingerless black driving gloves with spirit strike sigils engraved into the studs, Black engineers boots, metal chain link belt (silver) with an iron padlock for a buckle. Necklace made from iron nails in the shape of a cross. |
Laurella (Armored Bishoujo): "Let me get this straight. Everybody is trying to blow themselves and everyone else up with nuclear weapons because of this whole Mother of Hell thing AKA me."
Elissa (Mesden): "Yep, that's pretty much the gist of it." Laurella: "Well...that's it, then. I mean, fuck it, y'know? If I am destined to open the gates of Hell, the demons are going to be pretty pissed off to find that we humans kicked the shit out of our own world long before I gave them the chance to." Elissa: "So, you're saying that all we're fighting for is one big waste?" Laurella: "Aw, hell no. We humans know how to blow the world up a lot better and cooler than any army of demons. Let's just keep it up at the pace we're going." On a side note while browsing everyone's profiles (gotta know my protective peeps, y'see?), I see that Loki's character and my adoptive SECA agent father are both named Rick. Luckily, my Rick dies in the first post so that should be cleared up pretty damn early. |

musicmage4114: I have some reservations on this. Could you define more of what the Seraphic Guardian does in a little more detail? Also, I'll allow you (and anyone else) to have sigil tattoos, but you'll want to use them sparingly. Why? Because it hurts to channel the energy required for the spell through your skin...like holding your palm an inch or two above a lit candle. You also don't need a wand for incantations, but if you want one, cool. Akamaz: Gypsy Biker? I'm tempted to deny you just because of that...it seems so...wrong for some reason. Other than that, approved. I'm sure you and Krylo will get along well...you can see who's the bigger man by seeing who can break the most cinderblocks with your heads or something... EVERYBODY!!!!!!! For the sake of ease (mostly mine), I'd like everyone to check in on whether or not they are an "official" protector (i.e.: The others know about you, your organization admits you're there, etc) or if you're an "unofficial" protector (i.e.: Not there because of the Council, there just by circumstance [like Krylo's character, for example], etc). Most people from S.E.C.A., the Society, the Wardens and the religious organizations will be official protectors. Also, if you're official and if you want, you can be put up at McCragge Manor (after all, that's where the Chosen is going to be...might as well have as many Protectors there as possible). If your unofficial...well...you have to find your own place to live. :p This will also give me a list of who's still hanging about...I think there's a few people that haven't responded to my character correction notes. Oh, and no nukes. No, I don't care if nuking the site from orbit is the only way to be sure. ;) |
I'm going to go with Unofficial. Though I'll probably become official throughout the course of the story line.
|
Task is meant to be officially unofficial. As in he's officially meant to be watching her by official people, but those official people don't want other people to know he's official.
Also, why do I think Task is going to be in detention alot, when a teacher is a fellow player? That is named Thomas? |
Airan's official, working officialy for an official organisation with official goals. Even if he's not particularly fond of said organisation. And since his job is proteting her, living at the mansion would be good.

Michael is official and sanctioned, he'd be fine holing up at the Mansion.
|
I'm official.
As for the nukes, I was only mentioning them becuase they were apparantly available: Quote:
|
Thomas is official according to his group, but unofficial in regards to the Council. The Society doesn't like his group very much, so they probably would put up a hissy fit if he was there, but if The Fingers are asked, they'll admit that he is there as a protector advocate of their group.
Also, James isn't going to be anywhere near the Detention Hall. Females only. Thomas don't swing that way. You just get extra homework. |

if it helps at all, think of the nomads from cyberpunk... some of them fit under the gypsy biker. as far as breaking cinderblocks with my head? i don't do that stuff... I don't break boards.. I decided to go with more of a soft style, like snake style pressure points and tai chi Chuan with a tiny bit of jiujitsu |
Gael is official, and will gladly stay at the manor.
edit: Also, since Harm (Demetrius) is based out of the Vatican, is it likely that our characters will at least know about each others groups? |
You want me to say if I'm official or unofficial? But I'm no protector. I'm the protected. I'm the one the protectors protect. I thought you'd decide if I was technically an official member or not.
I guess I'm a SECA person, though because you told me I was supposed to have little combat potential overall, I'm most likely no graduate from an official Protector Academy, which wouldn't exactly make me an official SECA agent. So, in some ways I'm official and in other ways I'm not. |
I guess that makes you unofficially official AB...
Hell if Pyros can get away with being officially unofficial I guess it must work in reverse too! |
Right, then! I am unofficially official! See, I have this certificate which is really just a Post-It Note with my signature on it. Hell, it doesn't even say what I'm certified for. Opening the Gate of Hell?

Edited. Please review.

Brent is an official protector, and will do everything he can to be as involved as possible.
|
Well, as per being a deployed agent, I'm very sure I'm an 'official' protector.
Hawk: There's no calling dibs on huge game mechanics >> I find that unfair! It'd really be whoever of us called in and gave the situation out. Then after some investigation team checks it out and gets back to the bigwigs already, the bigwigs spend weeks deciding to pull the button. We're just really good grunts. =P I mean, even if you are a 'high ranking officer', no super high end officer is gonna be on the field. Much less do ANYONE in a government organization get what they want immediately. <<;;; Blech, I feel totally outclassed. Even the other SECA guy can apparently pull out some 'high end' shots in this. All I've got are some guns. >> |
AB: We'll call you official, since you're officially the reason for all this.
Raiden: We'll call Thomas official for the time being...a lot of the old feuds are being put on hold until the Mother of Hell situation is played out in one way or another, and since you said yourself the Fingers wouldn't deny they have someone there, he's technically official. Hawk of Battle: Just because I said S.E.C.A. has access to nukes doesn't mean that every S.E.C.A. agent has access to nukes, ya dig? Gir: Okay, that looks alright. Just remember that magic bullets are rare and expensive, so if you fire one every 30 seconds, you chance of become sacrifice fodder increase...just a friendly warning. :D Mesden: If you feel outclassed, why not go for a bigger gun? Sure, everyone else can cast fireballs or whatever, but with the right gun, by the time they get done chanting the incanation, you could of put 100+ rounds into the target. A flash-bang grenade has the same effect as a blinding light or stun spell. Tech is also much simplier to throw out on the fly. A comparitable mage would have to fish out a sigil, make sure it's the right sigil, then chant the incanation, whereas you just have to point and shoot. Of course, if you still feel a bit outgunned, try to come up with something to level the playing field. If it's a little outside the norm, throw me a PM and I'll dis/approve it, depending. As to when the RP will start...I figure on starting this up some time Saturday evening, after I get home from work. So everyone has until then to sign-up/get approved. |
Well then, Mes. Give yourself even MORE guns. My guy looks good, and uses Incantation magic.
You're SECA. Which means you get crazy tech to make up for lack of magic. I'd say get yourself some hollowpoints. LOTS OF HOLLOWPOINTS! And lasers! Oh, and grenades! If all else fails, wear a thong and a miniskirt. Flash some leg. Distract the demons/evil men. |
Character Name: Narzeal Loviticus
Gender: Male Age: 24 Organization: Religious Order - Choir Boys. This wasn't the original name of the group, but so many jokes after jokes came from within the group, that in 1853, the leader decided that it would be quite funny to make it the actual name. No one argued it, so there it stayed. The group gathers it members by finding devote church goers that have past experience dealing with problems. The members of the church order do normally find themselves relying on technology mostly, with the occasional user of a holy artifact found here and there. Class: Swordsman, strangly enough. Special Abilities: Narzeal happens to have great skill in the sword. He can use other weapons as well, but its quite apparent he is meant for the blade. He also can use some sigil magic, however he seems lacking in that department as well. Bio: Narzeal is the holy relic specialist of the order he belongs to. After quite a rough childhood, Narzeal found himself showing up in this church quite often. He had made some quick money doing some bodyguard work for random people that had debts that were trying to be collected, or just had a lover that was really really pissed, and somehow the church found out. So Narzeal started fighting for the church, and during the first year or so when he tried for what magic the Choir Boys could teach him, they found that his magic was... lacking at best. It seemed that Narzeal just didn't have what it took to cast magic, even when he preformed everything right, not every spell would work for him. They found it kind of strange, until Narzeal showed them something he was good at. He took to the holy relics of the church quite easily. While his connection with magic itself was iffy at best, it seems that using weapons that are quite divine suited Narzeal. And so, Narzeal followed the path of a relic user, of a swordsman. The only strange thing is that the church didn't have records of the sword he uses now, but its on their side, so they arn't worried about it. Equipment/Belonging: Narzeal uses a sword that sheathes itself in flames when drawn. Quite dangerous too. His clothing has sigils on them that Narzeal says are used to protect him, but considering his magic, well yeah. However one of the few things in magic he can get consistent is his cloth bandages, which have healing sigils sewn into them. He also has a few stones that have sigils etched in them, but they are unreliable at best. |
I've mentioned my ability to holster grenades and ammo in miscellaneous types and amounts to keep up some versatility.
And that Carbine, while not a HUGE gun, is certainly enough to blow chunks out of concrete fast. But sure, give me a big gun too. MG4 works << >> << I still just usually feel a bit outdone -- in a demonic like RP, eventually guns aren't gonna do too much. (This is how my brain works. LEAVE MY BRAIN ALONE.) |
I still say my idea of distracting the males with a short miniskirt would work...
No one listens to the teacher. |
ooh, the M249 is fun... 5.56mm machinegun, either belt or magazine fed... (in most games it's my assault rifle of choice :)
and why bother with just hollowpoints, why not get some depleted uranium rounds? or Glaser saety slugs? both of those will knock someone on their ass |
Edited and ready for review (I hope I was specific enough).
Zack is an Official Protector. |
Mesden: I have a buddy in the National Guard over, and he recommends the M60 (bigger rounds), and/or an M-16 with the M203 grenade launcher attachment, or if you're really desperate for firepower, something like XM214 "Microgun".
As a side note, he's also the guy that told me about Evil's Return in the first place, so you guys can blame this entire fiasco on him. |
Looking at Elissa, I'm kinda thinking she needs a near comically big firearm. How about a tank gun?
|
Anyways...enough of gun shopping...we're running out of posts before the thread has to close. :gonk:
musicmage4114: Okay, that looks better. Approved. IC: Yeah...approved. |
Character editted with the badass advice from TB's friend. <.<;
PS: I think a mirco-gun would be a bit unwieldy. XD |
Ecurt and I are working on our sign ups. Yaplet just kicked me off, so it might take a while since we're doing this via pm now.
