Tv trope that ruined my Christmas?

This Trope pretty much killed my day. Not even the fact that I got a burner for my PC so I can back up my stuff and FINALLY be able to upgrade without fear of losing anything important can make up for this.

Really is this crap still going on? Is this a major problem?

It would be a shame if it was considering that I actually starting to consider dating after thinking about rather or not being alone for the rest of your life is really worth it. And it's really feeling worth it now. More then ever before.

This can't really be a huge problem in real life can it?

PS. This is the other reason why putting a female character or making a female character in any story is a VERY DANGEROUS IDEA! It's also why every single one of the females in Mischief Knights no the entire Dash Universe stories (all 12 stories) is an action girl. May have to consider another rewrite and some retconing if I get green lit for a publishing deal, if that ever happens of course.

It really depends of what groups you surround yourself with. I hardly ever saw a example of this in real life, but i know they do exist.

Having these characters in fiction is a double edged sword for sure. But just for the same reason why people will sometimes hate something but won't stop talking about it or reading about it... because they hate it. Y'know? Sometimes people will just hate a character because he is or because he isn't whatever the hell they want to use as an excuse to hate it and that's that.

But in real life? Man, if you find those types a lot around you check the enviroment you're around.

Kyanbu, for the most part, in real life, nobody honestly gives a damn about how a woman behaves, providing she isn't a slut or a total gold digger. The people that do are the same assholes that cause problems for the rest of the world.

As far as fiction goes, humanity is eternally going to be the Unpleasable Fanbase. There will be some who like girly characters, and some who will hate them. Best advice I can offer is do what you like, fuck the rest of the world. The only opinion that should matter is yours.

Premmy 12-25-2009 08:34 PM

Attention Kyanbu!: Women are people!
People act differently all over the world! no two are alike! if you wish to socialize with any of them, be prepared to deal with any kind of random craziness!

Because it's still Christmas for another four and a half hours, I'm only going to tell you to watch your language instead of giving you an infraction or whatever.

TVTropes is not meant to be taken internally.

Premmy 12-25-2009 08:38 PM

Change your avatar! I keep thinking of you as a dirty hippy! You damn dirty Hippy!

Eh, I apologize. Didn't mean to offend. I am of the particular opinion that everyone is entitle to do what they like with life, and throw society's expectations and other such drivel out the window, and I tend to get passionate about it when those same things give people a reason to doubt themselves.

On an unrelated note, Merry Christmas!

Well so much for MY education. Thanks a lot, jerk. I suppose the same is true of Wikipedia?

This might explain why I haven't been able to acquire a job as a neurosurgeon yet.

Premmy 12-25-2009 10:49 PM

It might also explain why my throat hurts so much, hard to swallow the internet all at once.

I'm not offended by your opinions and don't care about them except where your use of sexist epithets like "slut" and "gold-digger" is concerned. You're not so new that you haven't had time to notice that that sort of thing generally doesn't fly here.

Truth be told I was only pissed that it got to the point where fictional character are being called out on it. This kind of thing is not really even shown near where I live.

Daimo Mac, The Blue Light of Hope 12-26-2009 12:40 AM

This thread she be called, TVTropes made my christmas (no offence to you Kyanbu) because the fact that according to TV Tropes

A popular Meme on the Eight Bit Theater Forums is to mention the semi-non-existant (yeah, semi) Fanfiction "Colors of Magic, Colors of Love" and to jokingly suggest making it Canon. What's this fanfiction about, you ask? The pairing Black Mage/Red Mage. UAGH
I'm blaming fifth for this one.

Kim 12-26-2009 12:49 AM

I blame Mirai.

Saying it's about Red Mage and Black Mage really is oversimplifying things. I mean, pretty much any pairing that can possibly be crammed into CoMCoL is canon.

Hell, I've been thinking of shoving a Tyler Durden + Jack Fight Club chapter in.

You, um... you realize that this is, in fact, kinda the definition of the trope you linked, right? In an attempt to avoid the appearance of stereotyping the female characters, you overcompensate and make them all "non-stereotypical" in a similar way.

And I did.

Tsunadai Mitsurugi - egotistic Jerk ass

Sarina Phantom - Jerk ass prankster

Queeny Aroma - Sane Corporate genus,

Siren Gale - Psychopath

Pandora Rox - Bookworm, glass cannon,

Annabel Vandalia - Femme Fetale

Silvia Phantom - Dead parent, but was the sympathic atoner

Alexcia Rain - Female Boisterous Bruiser, trigger happy mercenary

Xaniras Vandalia - Angst Assassin, pyro

Jetah Rodgers - Sane Bounty Hunter

Joan Vandalia - the healer

Trixy - Insane Psychopath, Pirate

Kage - Anti Villain

And each of them are very well rounded making them as human as possible (even the vampires get this treatment). And are much more complex then what I've just stated.

Grow a thicker skin for god's sake. We're not politically correct here and while I have every bit of respect for every race creed whatever, sometimes if I want to poke fun at something, I'm gonna do it.

Grow a set folks. The internet honestly, honestly isn't serious business.

Fifthfiend 12-26-2009 02:50 AM

Hahaha okay no but seriously October 2009? He's been here like exactly long enough to see that sort of thing officially is tolerated here and that administrators will actively defend it and attack people for being pissed off by it. Honestly what on Earth do you expect from the guy?

Madcow9000 12-26-2009 03:18 AM

I think Mashirosen just wanted to scare the new guy.

My first instinct is to say "Fuck you and the angry little horse you rode in on for saying that to me, you histrionic drama junkie", but that would be Going Nuklear, wouldn't it?

Kyanbu, get a goddamn grip and get away from your project for a while. There is a universe outside your head and you need to spend more time there.
