Xenoblade - Newest in Xenogears/saga series

Previously announced at E3 2009 as Monado, this is Tetsuya Takahashi's next major RPG project due for release on the Wii in Japan in Spring 2010. It is being developed by Monolith Soft, the studio behind Xenosaga.

Seems to be Final, but will it be Fantasy?

Killing Master Erauqs in Birth by Sleep now seems to be a threat from Squeenix.
 

I couldn't really get into Xenosaga. The gameplay always seemed to put me to sleep. Xenoblade looks interesting though. The mechas have that lost ancient advance technology feel. Which wills me with fangirl level glee. X3

Xenogears was awesome. Amazing. Really.
(Well, Disc 1 of Xenogears was awesome, anyway.)

Xenosaga was, in my opinion, a real disappointment. A step backwards in storytelling, and several steps backwards in terms of gameplay.

Not sure how I should feel about Xenoblade.

Is it me or the Xenoblade site song (and Monado trailer song) sounds A LOT like Yoko Shimomura?

I'm also hearing the The Last Story track and it gives me a Nobuo Uematsu vibe. He composed for Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, after all.

I am approaching Metroid: Other M with extreme caution. The trailer from way back when was cool and all, but also gave me the feeling that Team Ninja (they're the ones doing it, right?) don't really get it. I dunno, we'll see, I guess. Change is fine so long as the spirit remains.

We have Samus in a city. With PEOPLE, and no suit of armor.

The chances of her becoming another Lara Croft are approaching over 50%...

They're doing it, yeah, but with the support, teamwork, and more importantly supervision of Nintendo. So if the game winds up being the Unmetroid or whatever, to me the blame should fall squarely on the shoulders of the big N.

Anywho, second impressions are... eh. Other than potentially good voice acting this doesn't seem to... y'know. It's just a well drawn thing set to music. I can't base expectations on that. Show me some gameplay, or cutscenes, or even sample some of the music and I can dig it. Even screenshots would suffice. But this doesn't make me think "This game will rock!" or "This game will suck!". It makes me think "This game will... uh... exist. Yay."

Wait.... Monado is connected to Xenogears?...

....we're getting a Xeno unniverse title for the Wii?

I remember playing Xenogears and saying "what the fuck" a lot, but in a good way.

A really, really good way.

I remember playing Xenosaga and not even saying what the fuck at all, it was boring. The main character was completely ridiculous (random science chick with glasses vs. ponytail wearing kung-fu badass. not a favorable comparison.)

I don't know if the story eventually "got better" because I didn't even make it halfway through the first xenosaga before I put it down for good.

I have no clue where all the cutesy, androgynous ladyboy bullshit worked itself into the series, but something terrible happened between the PS1 and PS2, and I don't foresee it changing.

Still seems more Gears than Saga so far... i just don't see where the Evangelion-esque mechas come in play with this game so far... maybe this time they are more of a Cutscene things than a gameplay thing?
