Bioshock give away/Bioshock general
I have just pre-purchased Bioshock 2 on Steam. That comes with a free copy of Bioshock. I already own Bioshock on Steam, so...
If you want a free copy of the original Bioshock, would you kindly write out a post explaining why you should get it. Make sure you can run it and that you post your steam id so I can friend you to gift it. I'll make my decision approximately on Friday afternoon, American central time. Also, Bioshock 2 comes out it in less than a week, so this thread can also serve as a general thread regarding the games. |
I was gonna ask for it, but I have already played and beaten it and this should be given to some poor soul that has never found out how awesome this game is.
...wait its due out in a week? But mass effect 2 will drain all my spare income! |
got my game Avatar on.
also I think You should give it to me because I saved you from your future self. who tried to kill his past self, because you gave away a rare version of bioshock to a nerd across the internet that found the code for time travel in it, and was hailed the greatest genius of all time, But In the process of saving you he was sent back in time to the point where he can't go around in time because the code was never found out yet. thus doomed to Spend his life in a Near Stable time loop forever (near stable because the last 2 times I saved you You where wearing diffrent shirts then the last few times) |
My computer can't run it.
I kinda wanted to say you should give it to Mirai so he can review it a couple weeks from now, but I don't know if he wants it or if his computer would run it anyways, and if he did want it he'd probably have asked by now.
I wasn't really interested in the game for a number of reasons. @Aerozord: What was good about it and how does it compare with the previous game? I'm particularly interested in how the plot compares, but did they make the gameplay a bit more specialization oriented at least? |
I'm not too keen on the idea of being a reviewer-for-hire, especially since all my thoughts on the original Bioshock will probably carry over into a review for Bio 2.
Plus I already own it. |
You should totally give it to me because I am the sexiest. Also I've never played it because of money and other games getting in the way. :sweatdrop:

I'd love to play it. I've just recently bought HL2 (beat that and Ep 1) and just want to see why everyone seriously likes this game.
|
I don't deserve it because my life is funded by the government.
Give it to someone poor. |
If I post something about Lizards It has nothing to do with the time loop being unstable
Also New computer needs ram first so Hold off When you decide on me. |
I recently replayed the original game in preperation for the sequel. It was good to refresh my mind on why it was so good. I think playing on surviver difficulty helped make a better experience as well, it brought back some of the tension you lose once you get a bit more powerful. Still not especially hard though, I actually managed to platinum it on this second run through. I was quite impressed with that.
|
You should give it to me because a hardcore dose of Ayn Rand is just what I need to cure me of my crazy.
I don't even hand steam but you can like play it and send brain messages of you playing it to my brain. |
You should give it to me because I rely on online surveys to buy stuff online, and you know that's sad :sweatdrop

My computer can't run it =( i would really want that...
But i'll offer you a insight... have you thought about sending an e-mail to steam asking if you could trade your unnecessary copy of Bioshock for a Gift Certificate of the same value? 95% chance they'll say no... |
Token stole my avatar and what the fuck? Like, seriously, what the eff?
|
Oops, I am behind the LP threads.
ha
I actually read that post as yours until now. |

Well Mr. Wandering God. I believe you should give it to myself as I have yet to play this game and I am now in Video Game Purchase Protection mode due to just recently having a beautiful baby girl named Annabel on Jan 23rd. She really is lovely and enjoys staring at my my computer screen as I play games. Would you kindly look at this beautiful face and say no to that? She's a bundle of joy and my money is now diverted from frivolous video game purchases to baby stuff to make this little Padawan happy. Yes, I have nicknamed the child Padawan because I'm that kind of dad. I even have Jedi Robes for her come halloween, or whenever I feel like putting her in them. I could change that and dress her up as a Little Sister instead for Halloween if that would help sway your vote. I am fairly sure she would make a cute Little Sister don't you think? So in short....
Would you Kindly..... |
Sorry about being a bit late with this, but I am now prepared to announce the reciepient of Bioshock 1 on Steam! And the winner is...
*drum roll* Jagos! B/c apparently he just got around to getting Half Life 2, so I know he is in need of some gaming. Also, he's never played it before. Token, you were also a strong contender b/c I am easily swayed by sexiness. Unfortunately, you have "boy bits". And I don't swing that way. However, before I can give it to you, I need to know you can actually play it. http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ Go there to find out if you need help. Send me a PM afterwards with a confirmation that you can run it and your Steam ID. Then friend request The Wandering God on Steam. When I get your friend request, I'll accept and gift you Bioshock. Also, here is the Bioshock 2 launch trailer. Prepare to have your mind blown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGb0MAYgt80 Fuck yeah! |
XD
You're already on my friend's list dude. |
That's why he's waiting for your friend request!

I do like that one major point of this game is that a guy with a drill weapon can defeat a superfreak with almost impossible powers beyond anything anyone else possesses, and is the exact opposite of everything he stands for.
Granted, a major point of this game is that a guy with a drill weapon can defeat ANYTHING, but you all indubitably get the reference and I shall cease beating dead horses. |
Okay, I've played a couple of hours of the game and am going to be listing some impressions.
I'm really liking the combat this time around. The weapons all seem pretty great (except the shotgun) and they feel really powerful. It's a good thing too, since it seems like you face more enemies. And the Big Daddies seem even tougher this time around. But there is a weird thing going on when lots of bodies start being scattered around. They automatically shift into lunchbox size containers with loot (or sometimes not) inside. The first couple of times it happened I thought an explosion had shifted them around. Defending a Little Sister as she harvests corpses makes for some fun mini-sieges. I'm so glad they changed the hacking. It seems like I spent half of my total time in the original Bioshock looking at tubes. Now it takes a fraction of the time, and you don't lose immersion since it happens in real time. I just wish there was some way to switch guns and plasmids while paused. It's a bit of a learning curve to juggle since you dual wield weapons and plasmids this time. In fact the game just seems faster over all. Some spoiler stuff from early game. The first 'real' fight against a Big Sister is pretty awesome. She is indeed the anti-Big Daddy with her jumping around, emphasis on plasmids, and hit and run tactics. While not quite as impressive as the Launch Trailer portrays, she comes pretty close. She was easier than a Big Daddy though. Perhaps that will change. Oh, and I tried a little multiplayer, but it is pretty laggy right now. Not surprising really. |
Been enjoying this myself as well so far, though I haven't played much yet. The drill is not entirely as useless as I thought it would be. The minigun seems crap though. Still really want a sprint button too.
I've been playing quite a bit of the multiplayer, and it seems solid enough, but you'll switch the shotgun out for the machinegun almost immediately. Hacking all the vending machines and scoring random kills from them is pretty funny. Capture the Sister is really hard without coordinating with your team. Overall so far; quite good. |
I have totally been screaming "WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?" When I use the drill
First off, the Big Sister was freaking hard. Thank God I for AP Rivets and Electricity. Pretty cool how she dropped Adam as well.

Well it makes sense that you're big and powerful as a Daddy.
It's like you're playing Heavy Weapons Guy. Maybe later he gets a speed boost? |
Just had the first Big Sister fight. She wasn't so tough. Few heavy rivets, a quick incinerate, drill her against a wall and finish off with a blast of minigun.
The first Big Daddy was easy too. Trap rivets, exploding barrel, heavy rivets. He didn't even touch me once. Note that I'm playing this on hard as well. The hardest things right now are machinegun splicers for me, or just any large group of splicers. Minigun is made less crap by using anti-personels. I foresee the game getting eaiser now that I have more weapons and health. |
It's alright so far - I am enjoying the changed-up enemies, the Splicer Brutes and Thumper (I think that's the name) Daddies especially, the ones who have rocket launchers and throw mini-turrets.
I've started off doing every Little Sister harvest escourt but Big Sisters are a pain in the ass and it's getting a bit tedious. Granted I have half of the Gene Tonic slots and a fuckload of upgrades, but it's still getting boring. |
Rumblers. Those are the launcher Daddies. They were interesting at first, but once you figure out their weakness they're pretty easy. Just a charged firebomb then unload with armour peircing/heavy rivets. They're too busy being on fire to care about you then.
I hear you on the tediousness on certain aspects though Mirai; particularly harvests and research. Seems no matter how many traps I put down or where I put them, splicers will ALWAYS get through. I may as well just not bother and instead just stand over the sister with a shotgun and blast them as they get close. Research is worse than ever too. Last game you could just find a bunch of enemies, get them to attack you, then snap a bunch of pictures to score as high as possible. Being forced to only research 1 enemy at a time, by using combat, while there are a ton of others also fighting you and getting killed before you have the chance to research them as well is really annoying. I mean I don't WANT to have to blow up cameras and bots just to research them, but now I'm forced to! I never liked the research aspect though, even in the last game. I just want to kill stuff, not arse around with some arbitrary system for upgrading that doesn't really make any sense. The only saving grace of the new system is that things seem to research faster, so it'll be over and done with faster. |
