#1220: "Entirely too much, actually."

Don't judge. If you hung around Thief, Red Mage, and Fighter all day you'd have dreamed up some elaborate murder fantasies of your own.

Nuklear Waste 02-16-2010 11:29 AM

...Dun dun dun?
Personally betting on that light coming from White Mage, who absorbed Sarda's magic or the orbs' powers or something dumb like that and is the true final boss of the series. Or that is how the world turning into a pastry looks.

Hetsurin 02-16-2010 11:31 AM

The only problem with that logic is that BM is fantasizing killing random, but reportedly pious, people that are not the Light Warriors or affiliated with them in any way. Shouldn't he be dreaming of killing them instead?

Also, I'm putting my money down that Chaos overheard Fighter's ramblings and that he is dying of mental agony... in other words, I think this was the Light Warriors' plan all along.

Super King 02-16-2010 12:26 PM

Even it is white mage, I doubt she absorbed any magical energies. If Sarda couldn't handle all that power, what makes you think she could?

Well, she influenced the Universe first, maybe she's attuned to it in ways he simply couldn't be? The Orbs were really the elements incarnate, and those are the building blocks of everything, so I think it seems possible. Not advocating that theory - but pretty much everything in this comic has good little twist to make things work out.

meo 02-16-2010 12:32 PM

Gandalf the White, right on schedule.

Arcon 02-16-2010 12:34 PM

Brian did you intentionally made that beam of light hide BM's face(i know he has just 4 pixels for it) so we wouldn't know his reaction?
He could think it was that god he mentioned getting back at him.

Ok. Everybody. She is not attuned to the universe. The universe was young. It is the same as you saying to your little brother "Hey dude, this would be an awesome thing to do" and he goes "YEAAAAH!" and does it. But not that brother is a 90 year old man, and he isn't going to listen to you. That is how the universe worked. White Mage isn't a god, she isn't a motivating force behind the universe anymore, and she has no more control than a fart can turn into a hurricane (Screw your butterfly effect.)

Art of Hilt 02-16-2010 01:00 PM

They messed about so much that even the plot got tired and decided to move on without them.

Faythoffenrir 02-16-2010 01:03 PM

And thus, they all died. The end.

Probably is White Mage. If sarda became Chaos, maybe white mage became Cosmos.

It was the combination of his magic, the orbs, and Black Mage's super evil that caused Sarda to explode. It's possible that someone else can hold 1 or 2 of those.

Jace22 02-16-2010 01:20 PM

Why is it that I think the white flash in the last panel is Chaos dying(suicide) after making sense of Fighter's advice. (You know the advice he gave before Red Mage and Thief took him away)

Green Spanner 02-16-2010 02:20 PM

Looks like they're safe forever.

Again.

Again again.

Veho 02-16-2010 02:58 PM

It's just the glare off the icing of an enormous cake.

Glug 02-16-2010 03:38 PM

Hey it's the Lost season 5 ending!

BigDemonicBunny 02-16-2010 04:14 PM

I'm guessing that.... it's the other light warriors! Except since the "light warriors" have been stealing all the XP encounters from the other light warriors they'll get slaughtered horribly.

Cantfindaname652 02-16-2010 04:19 PM

I'm gonna guess that it's Bahamut.

Bard The 5th LW 02-16-2010 04:57 PM

I'm gonna guess it was the end. No update will come Thurday, its all over.

Or alternatively, we'll get an udpate thursday, but the Light Warrior's are dead and in Hell.

Black Mage would be so happy! And red Mage and Thief would finally get what they deserve. And then they'd discover that BM has no power over Fighter as he doesn't belong there.

Aldurin 02-16-2010 06:23 PM

It's the end of the world, they wasted so much time that chaos is gonna put them in that torturous plane of existence.

Or it's white mage coming to brutally hammer BM for lightning-stabbing her in the head.

Or it's Sarda's soul coming back to say how much he hates them.

Or some idiot turned on the wrong studio lamp.

Or it's Chuck Norris fighting Chaos (most likely scenario).

timemonkey 02-16-2010 06:29 PM

Mayeb King Steve's drilling operation finally struck mana?

Genji 02-16-2010 06:30 PM

BM pwned Chaos ... period.

But chaos will be pissed in his realm when WM shows up and keeps BM from keeping his "promise" of sending the slaughtered innocent people to the Gods to mess with them and cause chaos between them all ... thus giving the deity's what needed to reign over evereything like they planned out from the beginning ...

I feel like I was going somewhere with that, I have no idea where it started heading suddenly >_>

Bob The Mercenary 02-16-2010 07:50 PM

It's so not White Mage or anything else that has been dreamed up so far in this thread it's not even funny.

It's obviously Onion Kid. Gawd.

What, you return to us NOW? At the turn of the tide? Where were you ten minutes ago?

EnuoCale 02-16-2010 09:52 PM

Okay, we've had about two too many comics with cake jokes in them.

CRAB BATTLE 02-16-2010 09:59 PM

So, they're finally going to get exactly what BM deserves.

Questionmarktarius 02-17-2010 03:20 AM

So.... Chaos absorbed too much power and exploded into Black Belt, who is immediately crushed by the Armiore of Invincibility, huh?

Si Civa 02-17-2010 03:45 AM

Chaos' final form is an angel. That's why there's light guys. He's our savior!

GrandMasterPlanetEater 02-17-2010 07:11 AM

Well, the world was nice while it lasted.

Who else wants cake?

VRaptorX 02-17-2010 04:49 PM

It's White Mage. We never had an official statement of if she died or not. When that happens, it means the person is alive. It's like when a character dies by falling off a cliff into an abyss. They always survive that.

And Black Mage never went into some really bad grieving or anything plot wise. She just got stabbed and then after 2 panels everyone forgot about it. Even Black belt had more grieving after his death. If she were dead there would have been a heck of a lot more focus on her.

Faythoffenrir 02-17-2010 05:46 PM

My guess is that she is still alive. If she died, would RM have teleported the body? And it would be an anticlimactic death.

It might have been in the way of the big showdown they were about to have.

And lord knows we wouldn't want to have an anticlimax. Not in 8-bit-theatre!

Arhra 02-17-2010 06:41 PM

Wouldn't it be a sensible guess that it's Chaos being scary?

You know, the thing he was thinking about doing better?

Nah. That's far too logical for this comic. It's probably Dragoon's triumphant return from the moon aboard the golden chocobo which itself is riding on a black chocobo.

Chekov has left so many guns in 8 Bit Theater, we will never guess what will happen. Nothing is too out there.

Seriously, Brian's not going to loop the comic to one now is he?

Even IF Dragoon hasn't been asphyxiated, and even IF he did get ahold of the gold chocobo, it wouldn't matter - the man is spearless. He could've made it back ALONE if he had a spear.

Easy. He used one of the water skis the golden chocobo's black chocobo is wearing as a spear and buddy-breathed from the fat chocobo (which was buddy breathing from the chrome chocobo). Haven't you been paying attention?

Neni 02-19-2010 10:01 AM

The next strip is gonna be a huge "The end" sign.

I'm not so certain.

You're probably right as there cannot be too many comics left if first and foremost the schedule has rather changed a bit in the past few weeks with 2 instead of 3 8-bit comics. Other projects aside, 8 bit has to nearly be done, but I was hoping that if that route is fast approaching, that the end hits on the first of March to ring in the 9 year anniversairy of the comic - something has to be done for that.

Aldurin 02-19-2010 11:55 PM

8-bit can't die, and I'm sure there are people who have dedicated a portion of their lives to make sure it doesn't.

Hell, the government should give Brian subsidies to keep doing this. It'd be the best use of our tax dollars.

Agree and double agree.
