Guess The Flick!

So the rules of the game are as follows - but probably open to change as the kinks are worked out; someone will post a screen-cap of a movie. It can be pretty much any kind of movie, documentary, foreign, action, horror, comedy - whatever. But it has to have:

A) Something recognizable - you can't just post a picture of a tree and say that "This is the forest from Defiance! How could you guys not guess that?" This would certainly be ambiguous when someone posts something from Avatar, but for now, choose something that you would recognize based on the visual clues you present with your screen.

B) With similar movies, like horror movie sequels, (Friday The 13th 1 - 24,234,325) people should have the sequel number on the end, or the full title. IMDB it if you need to.

C) We should just go with movies for now, but in the future we can probably get away with TV shows and such.

D) I think there should be a 48 hour rule. Real life has had a tendency to work against my schedule lately, and I know it has for others, so a screenie can be up for 48 hours without comment before someone can post their own.

E) The original poster is the judge, obviously, and should give the first right answer the opportunity to post their own pic.

F) If no one is able to guess the picture, the screen-poster should choose a candidate from those who've guessed on his/her picture.

Ready? Okay, on your marks, get set:

Ryanderman 03-09-2010 01:24 PM

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Goldfinger

Ape Boy 03-09-2010 01:24 PM

Is it "Goldfinger"? Or for the full, proper UK title, "Ian Fleming's Goldfinger"?

EDIT: BASTARD NINJA'ING!

Sifright 03-09-2010 01:25 PM

gold finger

Balls...

Seil 03-09-2010 03:41 PM

Mr. Ryanderman, take it away.

Ryanderman 03-10-2010 08:02 AM

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 03-10-2010 10:40 AM

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

I think...

Professor Smarmiarty 03-10-2010 12:19 PM

Yeah Hawk's got it hardcore.

Ryanderman 03-10-2010 12:32 PM

I think...

Yep. Picture taken from a scene that was blatently ripped off from an old Superman cartoon. Which was probably blatently ripped off from something else. Not that you care.

Anyway, Hawk's correct.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 03-10-2010 01:47 PM

Yeah I've never actually seen the film, I just recognised the giant robots.

Anyhoo, time for something a bit more obscure (hopefully), but still guessable;

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...Battle/Pic.png

Professor Smarmiarty 03-10-2010 02:12 PM

I've seen this film but can't for the life of me think what it is.

Archbio 03-10-2010 02:16 PM

Event Horizon.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 03-10-2010 04:24 PM

A winner is Archbio.

I was hoping that would take a bit longer.

Untouchables 2: The Touched

Wigmund 03-10-2010 06:43 PM

Public Enemies

Professor Smarmiarty 03-10-2010 06:44 PM

A fucking terrible film I haven't seen because it's terrible.

Shyria Dracnoir 03-11-2010 10:45 AM

I think Wig had it with "Public Enemies"

Archbio 03-11-2010 02:09 PM

The characters could be called public enemies, but that's not the correct answer!

Did I overshoot the difficulty? Come on, look at that guy! He might be a minor character, but how could you forget that guy?

Whomper 03-11-2010 07:18 PM

A hallway full of gangsters? It looks comical enough to be in The Naked Gun. I'll also guess The Naked Gun 2 & 1/2, just for good measure.

Bard The 5th LW 03-11-2010 08:17 PM

Johnny Dangerously perhaps?

Archbio 03-12-2010 06:15 PM

The 48 hours are up!

The flick was Miller's Crossing.

That's Leo O'Bannon's crew and the man being shown in (but who's not identifiable in this particular picture) is Tom Reagan, played by Gabriel Byrne.

I thought the sequence had something memorable to it, but it's not top tier. Next time I'll try and pick a smidge easier.

Whomper 03-12-2010 06:38 PM

I have never heard of that movie... and I've heard of a lot of movies.

You're not missing much. I've blanked most of it from my mind.
Hmm- this one shouldn't be too bad.
http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/z...mos2010/Jo.jpg

Hint- identify the actor if in trouble

Shyria Dracnoir 03-12-2010 10:33 PM

Something with James Dean or someone who looks very much like him

Archbio 03-13-2010 01:44 AM

You're going to say something like that everytime you don't get the answer, aren't you?

I'm going to say that's The Blob.

But probably not.

Seil 03-13-2010 02:11 AM

Nah, The Blob's old, but it was made recently enough to have a little color. That looks like... a man and woman running down an alley while a truck chases them. I think it might be a war film?

Krylo 03-13-2010 02:13 AM

I think it might be a picture that is so small you can't make out either of their faces or most of the scenery.

Archbio 03-13-2010 02:38 AM

Good point.

I was thinking a Hitchcock wartime film, just for the motif of a man and a woman running.

Edit: I mean a movie made by Hitchcock roughly in the second World War period rather than a war movie.

Geminex 03-13-2010 04:11 AM

I don't think it's a wartime film. Looks more like crime or horror. I'd go crime.

Of course, I don't know very much about those two genres, so I'll just say
"Allleys 2
-Return of the Cobblestones-"

Meister 03-13-2010 04:37 AM

Just guessing, but The Third Man?

Professor Smarmiarty 03-13-2010 05:09 AM

Didn't realise how small the picture would be-oops. No one will get it at that size. It was real big on my screen....
It was On the Waterfront.

Nah it's more my pathological hatred of the Coen Brothers causes my to hassle them at every opportunity.

Geminex 03-13-2010 06:04 AM

So, who posts the next flick pic?

Shyria Dracnoir 03-13-2010 01:25 PM

Previous postee's choice, perhaps? Whoever got closest or had the most creative answer?

Seil 03-13-2010 01:28 PM

I think Barrel should decide. I'll add an addendum.

Professor Smarmiarty 03-13-2010 02:16 PM

First to post one!

Archbio 03-13-2010 02:57 PM

Lemon Squeezy:

Tony Todd in Night of the living dead! The 1990 Remake of course

Archbio 03-13-2010 04:19 PM

Flawless victory for krogoth.

Fargo?

Professor Smarmiarty 03-13-2010 05:39 PM

Haven't seen it. Probably sucks though.

krogothwolf 03-13-2010 11:21 PM

Haha! I am winner!

Here you go!

Shyria Dracnoir 03-13-2010 11:39 PM

Predator?

Seil 03-13-2010 11:42 PM

Tropic Thunder?

Archbio 03-14-2010 12:41 AM

Something about it tells me Platoon.

krogothwolf 03-14-2010 12:46 AM

You sir, are correct! Stg. Barnes from Platoon.

Archbio 03-14-2010 03:25 AM

I did think he looked like someone you don't want to turn your back to.

I'll give it another spin!

http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/8713/ragi.jpg

Wigmund 03-14-2010 08:32 AM

Brazil

Melfice 03-14-2010 01:09 PM

It's probably just me, but that looks quite a bit like Cerebro from the X-Men films.
Anyway, since Wiggums is probably right, I'll just say X-Men 2.

P-Sleazy 03-14-2010 01:26 PM

Saw IV

Archbio 03-14-2010 02:06 PM

Brazil is correct!

That's the room where Information Retrieval happens.

Wigmund wins.

Meister 03-14-2010 05:35 PM

O Brother where art thou!

Melfice 03-14-2010 05:53 PM

Probably a good thing to not post any Coen Brothers films anymore. Depending on how fast Meister can see the image, he'll have won. ;)
But yeah. "O Brother where art thou!" would have been my answer too.

Wigmund 03-14-2010 06:26 PM

Alright, Meister's turn.

Professor Smarmiarty 03-14-2010 06:38 PM

I think you guys are just posting Coen Brothers movies to annoy me.

Osterbaum 03-14-2010 06:54 PM

Propably. I really wish people would post movies I've seen.

krogothwolf 03-14-2010 07:46 PM

I just realized the only Coen brothers movie I've watched is the Big Lebowski.

Meister 03-15-2010 03:59 AM

Right, here we go:

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/8941/00001gq.jpg

Professor Smarmiarty 03-15-2010 04:04 AM

Dead Man, Alternatively titled: The only Depp film that doesn't suck

Meister 03-15-2010 04:09 AM

That was quite possibly quicker than I took to select and upload the screenshot. Good job, your turn.

Professor Smarmiarty 03-15-2010 04:19 AM

Let's go: Imma coming to get you!
http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/z...18265_f260.jpg

Shyria Dracnoir 03-16-2010 02:38 PM

Rosemary's Baby?

Professor Smarmiarty 03-16-2010 03:07 PM

It's been a long time. It was Existenz which was massively popular round our parts- I guess nowhere else... Actress should have given it away I thought.
Floor open!

Meister 03-16-2010 04:00 PM

Don't mind if I do!

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/8999/0002nb.jpg

Professor Smarmiarty 03-16-2010 04:21 PM

Is that possibly Shoot Em Up?
Actor looks right and he stabs people with carrots but not sure about the scene.

Meister 03-16-2010 04:22 PM

Correct again! Getting deja vu here.

Take it away!

Professor Smarmiarty 03-16-2010 04:33 PM

Peow peow! Let's see whose been watching their classic westerns.

http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/z...s2010/Peow.jpg

I just wanted something with guns in it. It was either this or robocop.

Archbio 03-16-2010 04:38 PM

Once Upon a Time in the West, but wasn't it in color?

Professor Smarmiarty 03-16-2010 04:39 PM

You are correct and yes it was in colour- I didn't think about it at the time.
Double points for you for getting it with a handicap

2001, unmistakably.

Archbio 03-16-2010 05:32 PM

Looks like I don't have a medium setting. Expect something from a France production next time I got it!

Meister got it!

Meister 03-16-2010 06:03 PM

Let's see how quickly Barrelpants gets this one.

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/2601/00005g.jpg

Seil 03-16-2010 06:11 PM

Bear?

Professor Smarmiarty 03-17-2010 03:00 AM

No fair, I was sleeping! Took me 20 seconds once I saw it.
Coffee and cigarettes!

Meister 03-17-2010 03:20 AM

Correct, your turn!

I was considering using one of those shots that show literally just some coffee cups and a pack of cigarettes but eh. Bill Murray drinking coffee directly from the pot is too good to miss.

Professor Smarmiarty 03-17-2010 03:48 AM

Coffee cups might have stumped me- they are distinctive but still.
Let's try this one:
http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/z...mos2010/Yo.jpg

Krylo 03-17-2010 03:49 AM

Lawnmower man.

Professor Smarmiarty 03-17-2010 04:05 AM

Correct.I'm oscillating between nobody guessing and people getting it instantly. I need a medium value.
