3D without glasses? Seamless screens? Holy shit. Nice to see Nintendo bust out a real upgrade this time. edit: Anyone else think that Gen V Pokemon will debut on this thing?
|
Looks like it.

I heard about them designing 3d then having it project in 3d, but I had figured it would have been done with consoles first.
Live and learn. Curious what this is going to be like. I'm not sold on 3d but gimmickness is Nintendo's trusty revolver when it comes to new consoles. I'm not, however, too cynical to dismiss this entirely since hell I love my DS. |

Also, Coro Coro is revealing more Pokémon 5 features next week. I'm guessing that's why this was revealed so soon. |
The motion control has me a little worried, because I don't want to have to waggle my DS, but I'm thinking it's more for telling how you're holding it to help with the whole 3D thing.

I like my DS Lite so much I actually will find it hard to care about this one.
Which is in itself a complement to Nintendo I guess. |

Nintendo is so gonna kill original DS support like they did with the GBA. |
It's made out of cardboard! And... Legos? Tiny legos? Papercraft?
But for serious, that's actually pretty neat. Sci-fi shit, right there. Regular back to the future kind of thing. I look forward to when they make phones that project 3D images of who you're talking to. |

Of course I have bouts of consumerist whoring and will probably get 3DS anyway if it turns out to be fascinating. |
...well fuck.
I'm not sure how to feel about this. At first I thought it was a joke. |
People won't be satisfied until someone finally pumps out the holographics, it seems?
To be honest I was never that excited about 3D graphics. I have a personal preference for simpler styles--old-school graphics and gameplay, the stuff I grew up on. But I'm a mite curious to see how this new system will work out once they release it. Will it revolutionize gaming-on-the-go? Will it outsell the DS on its first week? Will it have games that I would like to play? |
Hey, you guys who proudly bought all those DSi's and DSiXL's ?
FUCK You! This message was brought to you by Nintendo. Nintendo, "we do what we do". No, but really... i trully hate when Nintendo does this sort of thing. The DS and DS Lite were doing fine. Couldn't you just wait a little longer and release a DSiXL3D ? It's like a Hyperactive kid designing a toy for god's sake! "Hey hey! Put a camera in it... yeah, NO! NO! uuuhhh Make it BIGGER!! NONONO Make it 3D! ALRIGHT!!!" |

So no, probably not. Also, that means Spring 2011 is when WE get Gen V... but... but I'm not even CLOSE to done with HG yet! |

The motion control allows the system to detect the stylists movement, not the player. That's not possible yet and won't be for another 10 years or so. The 3D effects are the same as what you see in imax theaters and on select TVs. So your eyes WILL bleed from playing it after a while. On top of that it's not even called DS anymore. It seems to be an entirely new handheld console. |
I'm going to go with the assumption that the 3D is some underwhelming thing like the Wii motion controls until otherwise disproved. The distance between the promised product and the actual product was so immense I still haven't quite gotten over it, and I haven't played Soul Calibur Legends in over a year!

I'm still not sure how to feel about this. :/

Hilarious how that video went from 475 views to 815,312 views in one day. |

You probably need enough light.

awesome idea from somewhere else: A viewtiful joe parodying the most prominent 3D movies of the past and present. they could even call it VIEWTIFUL JOE... 3-D and have giant cheesy block letters floating out
"OH NO GRATUITOUS AND GIMMICKY BODY PARTS AND MONSTER ATTACKS ARE FLYING INTO THE AUDIENCE, STOP THEM JOE" as you suddenly have to run towards the screen to stop them and ordinarily with a 2D screen that would be hard to judge the distance from that angle |
