Big Boss versus Big Freaking Dinosaurs in Metal Gear Solid (5): Peace Walker

Yup.

As part of the collaboration, Peace Walker will feature a special "Monster Island" area of play where Snake will have to hunt some well known Monster Hunter beasts, large and small. As with the rest of Peace Walker, this can be done in four player co-op mode.

Snake will have the support of Monster Hunter mascot character Airu (Felyne in the overseas version of the series). Airu will help you clear the missions by sending out bullets and other support items in boxes.

You'll also find another Monster Hunter staple on Peace Walker's Monster Island: well cooked meat. Actually, make that well cooked rations. Pick up a "Ration Grill Set" around the stage, and you'll be able to cook up your rations to make them more effective.

There is a lot more crossover in the game (like with Doritos, Square Enix action figures, a whole set of shirts by Uniqlo, Walkman cross-promotion, and build your own Metal Gear)... but shit, dinosaurs, dude.

Had to happen sometime. Dragons ARE awesome, you know.

Jagos 04-07-2010 01:54 PM

And here I was expecting an April Fools Joke...

-_-;

CABAL49 04-07-2010 04:30 PM

So..is Snake now one of those video game characters that just appears in crossovers now?

stefan 04-07-2010 04:41 PM

oh, Kojima. You so crazy.

Is he Wolverine incarnate? Yes.

Seil 04-07-2010 05:04 PM

He's Big Boss, not Snake.

Same thing really. His original code name WAS Naked Snake you know... look alike, both voiced by the same actor... even kinda similar character-wise.

Plus you know, Solid's his clone.

Solid Snake 04-07-2010 06:39 PM

So my father hunted down dinosaurs, and all I got was the opportunity to hunt down monkeys in the Russian jungles (!!!) where my father once fought real enemies?

Some trade-off, there.

Caught onto the "Doritos/Mt. Dew/Axe Body Spray" and I've officially decided that Kojima either has lost his fucking mind or is just getting to be an excellent troll. Neither would surprise me.

MGS4 was just the beginning.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 04-08-2010 01:26 AM

Yeah well Kojima apparantly has been saying recently that console gaming is dieing and is on its way out, and that Twilight is a good series.

I can't take anything he says seriously any more.

CelesJessa 04-08-2010 01:56 AM

Yes I do know too much about Metal Gear

Wait. He's just now getting to be a troll? I thought it was commonly understood that Kojima was, and always has been, a giant troll.

In other news:

This is going to be the best game ever.

On a serious-ish note, it's not like this is the first time MGS has been involved in crossovers. Snake vs Ape, Mesal Gear Solid, Konami New International Track and Field, Super Smash Brothers, MGS references in "Army of Two", Snake had a cameo in Boktai 2 I believe, Snatcher, Policenauts... the skating game in MGS2 and the respective crossover in the actual skating game where you can unlock Snake, I believe.

Yeah as much as I hate the product placement of WTF, this isn't awful, just kind of goofy. Although...

He's just now getting to be an excellent troll, I did specifically say.

Maybe I should have said "simply getting to be an excellent troll" to make it clearer.

Aha, my apologies, I read it wrong.

In penance:

This makes me think of MGS meets Final Fantasy. I could see it...

Kyanbu The Legend 04-08-2010 02:46 AM

This game got more fun. XD

Ah Kojima, you always manage to come up with the strangest ideas. lol

Snake is the Wolverine/Deadpool of the video game industry.

Magus 04-18-2010 02:03 PM

I wish they'd put the games with Big Boss on the consoles and the games with Solid Snake and Raiden on the PSP.

Bells 04-18-2010 02:31 PM

Also, please don't forget that this game has Crossover connection to the new Front Mission game.

...you know, i can't be mad with Kojima. Dude knows how to make a buck and a good game all in the same disc.

Sky Warrior Bob 05-03-2010 05:20 AM

So, this looks like a possible mini-game for Peace Walker. Along the lines of the Ape Escape things in MGS3, right? (I mean, a Cat with glasses brings you to the dino, right?)

I just wonder if Konami has a dino game this is based on.

Inbred Chocobo 05-03-2010 11:07 AM

Wow... coming from a Monster Hunter fan, they did a really good job in making the monster behave the exact same way it does in the real game. I'm rather impressed.

Have we forgotten about Dino Crisis already?

Magus 05-03-2010 04:20 PM

Wasn't that more Resident Evil meets Jurassic Park?
