Things we would like to see in an epilogue?
What things would you like to see in an epilogue comic?
For me it would be: The future fate of Elf Land after its war with Corneria. The future fate of the Light Warriors. Does Fighter ever leave BM? What happens to Red Mage? Is there even a kingdom left for Thief? What happens to the Dark Warriors? Do they become good guys now? What happpens to Dwarf Land? What happens to Corneria? What happens to Bahamut and Mayatoa? What happens to Akbert? What happens to White Mage? |
Honestly? I would really love if there was an Epilogue were it was simply fighter 10 years ahead in the future writing in his "Epi log" making his memoirs of his great adventures and the destiny of his comrades.
Also, Black Mage and thief selling the map to find the armor of invincibility to young adventurers. |
Bahamut and Matoya: They fucked hundrds of comics ago and scarred the Light Warriors for life. They're minor players and don't matter beyond that.
Akbar/Jeff: They were throwaway characters for jokes, a reference to Matt Groening's Life In Hell series. The only thing I really care about seeing is one last panel with the Light Warriors coming to the realization that all their time spent together and challenges faced have been utterly meaningless. They're forever crippled by Sarda's magic, they have no glory, no riches, no one will ever remember them and their inept 'rivals' will forever be loved by the world over. The best Thief has is to crawl back home and hope he can assume the throne. Everyone else is just kinda boned. |
I'd like to see the actual end of the story. Right now things just feel like they're dropped off a cliff. As grateful as I am for one of the web's most stalwart comic series, I think the various characters should have their story arcs closed.
Also: 3/20 - Comic 1224. 3/31 - "No, 8-bit isn?t quite finished yet. We?re done with the meat of the thing, all that?s left is a page or two where we throw the bones into the trash." 4/17 - "Yes, that was the end of 8-bit Theater." |
This is the best way to end comic, really a joke on reader once again since everybody is pissed of because someones fate isn?t resolved. I think LW went to prison since they failed to get " we killed Chaos"-glory so DW probably just sent them to prison for their crimes.
|
Some sort of soppy, not-in-the-spirit-of-the-comic-at-all, utterly anti-anticlimactic ending. One with true meaning, that evokes emotion, laughter, tears, a fitting last page to a great epic.
Because seriously, after that last page, everybody's going to expect more anticlimax in the epilogue. The only way to beat them is to make your anticlimax climactic. That makes perfect sense! |
The joke has been on us readers for close to a decade. Something different might be nice for a finisher.

A joke on Brian?
How about we the fans create our own epilogue, post it up, and consider it 100% canon no matter what he says or how he argues. Then the joke would be on Brian. |

That being said - given his paying career picking up - if the "epilogue" never happens, I'm happy with what is there. I'd rather have no ending than something really hastily thrown together just to get people off of his back, much less a hastily thrown together "f you" to the readers for bugging him. (and before the dozens of replies with "That's all that Brian does", there are different levels of "f you" to the audience, that one isn't one I see happening). |

Honestly, I thought it was a fitting end for the whole thing.

hey! new here, but i think a fitting ending should at least have the OG crew in it. last episode = them missing.
and on a side note, i feel emptier at this ending of the 8-bit nonsense... but its nothing a chezbrgr cant fill i suppose (well maybe a fry and soda too...) |
I'd like to see one final epic hadouken. Maybe a swordoken.

lol a true effyu would be just 4 frames, each a prtrait of the OG char's and the 5th frame a big -THE END- sign... lmao

It would be kind of you, sir. Besides, you can think of it this way. Once you post a 'real' ending, you will stop being harassed about it. Or at the very least, not harassed as much. |
It would be nice to see what was up with swordopolis and the other avatars.
And seriously, what happened to the queen? |
I seriously wouldn't mind it if there was just a page at the end with Fighter, Thief, Red Mage and Black Mage doing whatever with a giant "THE END" on it.
Because not having them on the last page just seems off. |
^ AGREED! I would just like to see the Light Warriors. It isn't right that they were nowhere to be seen in the last comic.

although.... you know....
brian may be giving us the best gift of all, by not giving us a difinitive end to the series, he has allowed us to imagine our own version of the LWs doing their own verson of LW business. hence then we may all argue and rant and rave over who has the most logically correct version of the end, resulting in tons of fun and endless debate!! THX Brian! |
That is literally the worst possible outcome.

And then complain about it for years. |
No for reals now, I want to see the final frame showcasing Black Mage boning White Mage with Dragoon riding the Golden Chocobo down from the moon in the background.
This is a reasonable enough request. |

Hmm...according to the Twitter, we're going to get an EPICLOGUE that somehow involves everyone's favorite piece of indestructible furniture...
Speculation...Go! |
I'd like to see a lot of text, and not much in the way of presentation. I'd like to know what happened to Evil Princess Sara & Dragoon, two characters that were introduced with some background & motivations behind them, but ultimately faded into the background.
I'd also like to know what Fighter's plan for the four ultimate swords was. I mean, sure BM hushed him up, but I was expecting to eventually learn about it. SWB |
while we are on the speculation train...
i would like to know if BM ever gets... you know... "lucky" |
Nope.

AWW come on!!
lol it would not only completely upset that unsaid person applying a feministic/sexist/left field base on the whole thing, but it would give hope and spark joy in the hearts of all who can (and often do while plotting onthier bosses imagining large hadokens being thrown about the work place whilst drinking thier coffee and munching blueberry muffins.... nom nom nom....) *cough* who can RELATE to BM and feel sorry for the guy... saigh... |

Honestly, to combat all the bitching Brian's received over the ending, I'd love for him to create an epic fan wank epilogue - BM and WM hooking up, an epic fight between BM and Fighter, Chaos coming back, etc.
... and then have him take it all away by saying it was all just the daydream of an autistic orphan that BM may or may not have broken. |
News post. "Armoire". Fascinating.
It seems that the epilogue will revolve around open-source text editing software and spellchecks... |

That and there's also Red Mage and I heard he needs an order rebuilt too for red mages. |

I don't care whether any loose threads are tied up or not. There's no way all of them could be, and they don't matter enough to make the effort. |
I want to see Atomic Robo come flying down from the top left corner up there and Nuke the whole 8-bit world.
Then some sad crack about how BM never got to do it. Considering the discussion at hand, we can use every meaning of the term "do it." Then there would be links to the other projects Brian is working on, unceremoniously jammed within the last remaining panels. |
Oh! And don't forget that the entire thing will be one giant PayPal button.
|
Blatently gonna be a Fighter diary entry.
|
OMG OMG OMG THIS SO HARD

Shonen of fighter in his training dojo learning each style in an adventure, like dragon ball kinda.

Also, I would love a Shojo-Manga style retelling of the events from White Mage's point of view... except her point of view is messed up by her own naivet? in the beginning as well, causing everything to look a whole lot more epic and magically than it actually is, while Dialouge stays exactly the same. That would be AWESOME. XD (Yeah, I love capitalizing that word. Why do you ask? ^^) This may just be my love for batshit insane non-romatic shojo-comedies like Pani Poni Dash, but I think this would be a cool take on everything. |

BM : ...This never happened thief : atleast no one can say you're a virgin anymore...*snrk* BM : THIS NEVER HAPPENED! >_> and then you see him fall into tears D: Why aren't the bmage, and thief icons working o_O? |
I don't think those icons survived our move to the new board. It's probably just as well; it's not like they ever saw a whole lot of use anyway, and I doubt we need them much now that 8-Bit is more or less over.
(As for your idea: you sure that's not a little, um, rapey? I mean, imagine if it was White Mage having sex she didn't want and playing it for laughs. It just doesn't come off right to me, particularly the whole collapsing-into-tears thing. And I don't think the potential lolrape gets any more okay just because it happens to Black Mage.) |
Well, you have a good point there. o-o Didn't think it out when I wrote that, it just seemed alright at the time since everything bad has to happen to black mage and all. xD So my apologies if sounded a bit wrong. :P
|
Thank you! On the bright side, there's still a whole fantasy world of horrible things for 8-Bit fans to do to Black Mage.
That said, I think I'm more of a Red Mage person... |
I want to see Red Mage get stuffed into a fridge.
|
What WAS Megahedron's angle, anyway?
|
About 138 degrees.
|
My favourite idea for an epilogue is an Animal House style "Where are they now?" that never mentions the Light Warriors. We only find out the fates of a few minor characters.
|
What happens to Sarda's cave now that Sarda is gone? Does it become a museum or something?
And I definitely want to see some kind of all out war between the giants and the elves (giants are of course seeking revenge for being used as ammo). And more random violence from BM. |
Quote:
Now that I think of it, what happened to the Real Light Warriors? |
I wonder if White Mage will remember Black Belt's advice on that whole "Light Warriors being given the glory of killing Chaos" thing and how she went out of her way to screw it up.
|
In the last panel, it would have to show "thirty years later" or whatever, and then it would show middle aged Sarda about to tempora-port (?) to the beginning of time.
...However, he'd take his hood off, and Sarda would turn out to be Brian, just like we all knew he was, anyways. |
What I'd like to see?
1200 more quality comics. :D |
"more"

I'd like to see an epilogue

Luckily I already completed everything I have to do for it. Waiting for other parties who don't read this forum to finish their part(s).

conspiracy theory:
The real epilogue is the disappointment of the readers. The comic was meant to end with that "fake" ending of it all being a dream. But when Brian got so many "thanks for the good run" responses to it he realized he needed to make 8bit have an even more disappointing end to be more inline with the series. One that never comes. edit: btw I'm not being serious or whining about how long it's taking for the epilogue, just something I thought of |
