It just doesn't end [Ragnarok Online]

www.arcro.net - this is about as far as my plug goes. If you like Ragnarok Online, go there, check out the setup, see if it's a game you'd like to play. Totally free, fully functional. Hope to see some folks there.

Osterbaum 05-22-2010 03:36 PM

I'm actually considering starting RO again. Maybe I will.

Kim 05-22-2010 03:54 PM

I've never played RO. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Fenris 05-22-2010 04:49 PM

I'll give it a whirl. I'm looking for a time sink for the summer, anyway.

A Zarkin' Frood 05-22-2010 05:23 PM

Maybe, If I find an opportunity to download that one and a bit gigabyte huge file without screwing with other people's connections in my house, I'll give it a try.
Never played RO before.

Krylo 05-22-2010 05:41 PM

I GOT OUT, SHINEY! I! GOT! OUT!

WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PULL ME BACK IN!?

Jagos 05-22-2010 07:38 PM

What, no third classes?

Emphasis.

Also, goddammit, Shiney.

Seriously, now I have something to DO!

Seil 05-22-2010 09:52 PM

Maybe in a few months, when school lets out.

shiney 05-23-2010 01:32 PM

Muhahaha.

MasterOfMagic 05-23-2010 02:44 PM

You almost tempted me, until I remembered that RO is boring.

Loyal 05-23-2010 04:28 PM

RO's music was nice (magnificent actually), but the gameplay appeal wore out in a hurry.

Odjn 05-23-2010 06:40 PM

I have to say the mods are useful and good. If you want some guy to give advice shinies send a pm.

krogothwolf 05-25-2010 12:02 PM

I've never played RO before and it's been 3 month's since my the last MMO game I've played, I'm 3 months sober so please don't ruin that shiney, please! WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF MY CHILD! She needs her father! Not some souless MMO playing Machine.

Rejected Again 05-25-2010 12:33 PM

Shiney-More of a bastard than usual.

shiney 05-25-2010 02:11 PM

That statement is true no matter when I am addressed.

Dauntasa 05-25-2010 02:13 PM

Would that mean that you're more of a bastard than the average person, or that you're always reaching new heights in the field of bastardry?

shiney 05-25-2010 02:14 PM

Both.
e: you ASSHOLE.

Donomni 05-25-2010 02:14 PM

Someone make an NPF guild, or something.

Every time I take initiative it ends in failure and driftiness.

Speaking of, could someone dig up a link to the soundtrack? I had it when I played RaiRO, but it was lost in the Great Fire of 2006 (also known as "that time my old computer's monitor stopped working so I bought this crappy Mac"). I'd like to have it again. Don't want to play any more RO, though. Geeze, drama and grinding all day every day.

shiney 05-25-2010 04:08 PM

Go to www.arcro.net and click downloads; the BGM should be available there.

Also, not a whit of drama on this one yet! 'Course, PvP hasn't started yet, and that's what really brings it. Derp.

Great Cartoonist 05-25-2010 08:35 PM

Wait wait hold up. Wasn't there already AvaniRO? Who's running what here?

shiney 05-25-2010 08:45 PM

AvaniRO was run by mjre (mjre_shadow) who decided that I was not a...worthwhile investment shortly into the setup of her server. As it was based on the userbase accumulated under my server, I decided to just do what I should have done in the first place and got a responsible (and I daresay impressive) team together and made my own server. ...Again. In any case I wouldn't say there was fallout so to speak but it left something of an indelible mark on my opinion of her and her operation, and honestly I'm much happier the way things turned out now.

Realistically, ArcRO is run and operated by The Mystical One AKA Shaelyn, who is the real head honcho. I am the hardware guy primarily, but also something of the co-owner.

Actually... even though i hardly ever have time for these, if there was a guild for each of brian's work, i would be tempted to join.

Corel 05-25-2010 10:02 PM

Some of you might have seen me appearing at the respawn point after dying quite a few times.

Got a 60 something Crusader called Coral if people want to hit me up. I tend to play at random times.

phil_ 05-26-2010 01:31 AM

Oh man, I remembered these songs were good, but dayum, these songs are good. Thanks, shiney. Guess I should have checked the website before asking, but still.

AngelicSlayer 05-31-2010 01:59 PM

Sounds like a damn good time. I will be there when school lets out.

Naqel 05-31-2010 08:45 PM

Transcending gunslingers are cool, but I lost interest in RO when I realized Gunslngers are a wasted potential. Out of 5 weapons with at least two builds each, there's only three viable options(and a fourth one combining two of those).

So unless you guys plan to do something radical to it, like making all rifles have a built in double crit instead of small flat bonuses, and/or making gunslinger skill trees less dependent on each other(right now it's: grenade launcher comes with a shotgun, and no way in hell you'll get gattling guns at the same time...) I'm not really interested in going back to the game.

shiney 06-02-2010 03:15 PM

Well, transcending a slinger allows usage of all trans-specific gear. Some skills are modified to work with other weapons (for example chain action (the double shot skill for pistols) procs with gatlings now, allowing a higher attack speed) and there are various buffs to the effect of overall slinger skills.

That said they are still largely a white damage class whose primary potential is in slowing things down, and not so much in spike. Too bad. :/ If you change your mind you're obviously always welcome.

You're a good man shiney. Good man. It's like I found my long lost parents or something. Feels much more like "home." Just like RaiRO did.

shiney 06-05-2010 05:47 PM

Well...glad to be of service!

Sounds quite nice for a start. But it still leaves the problem of Gattling gun being linked with Revolvers and Grenade Launcher linked with Shotguns open.

I guess I'll give it a try in some time. Maybe after getting a new PC. :P

My God, it all makes sense. Shiney is some douchey form of Yogi Bear.

All kidding aside, seriously, third classes?

Donomni 06-06-2010 12:39 AM

I kid, I kid. But it'll still be a really long time.

From what I've heard in chat:

Not until Gravity actually balances them properly and it's on iRO.

After that, JP players compile the data or whatevers, and that data is tweaked for the US server technology ArcRO uses.

This is then shamelessly taken and tweaked for ArcRO.

So, yeah, when that one game comes out. Duke Nukem something or other.

Not there yet. It's on the wiki that it hasn't been balanced for the server.

And judging from people who have played them, Monks are EVIL OP. I still want to use Banding one day. ;_;

How so? 'Cause my memory of playing a Monk was that I was the weakest person on the server.

He means Sura, the 3rd class job for Monks.

And he's right, they are pretty ridiculous.

shiney 06-09-2010 02:03 PM

Donomni is right on this one - when it's on Gravity, then adapted, then RE-adapted. The big task is trying to balance 3rd classes with pre-renewal (renewal is basically the World of Warcraft-ing of RO, changing all mechanics and balance) classes, and then implementation. All the sprites and graphics work already, all the documentation and icons are in the game, but the skills are not coded thus the 3rd classes are useless at this time.

Donomni 06-09-2010 03:20 PM

The question is, then...

Where are our question marks over the NPCs?!

Loyal 06-09-2010 03:39 PM

Is there someplace that gives details on the Renewal changes in layman's terms? Exact formulae is nice and all, but sometimes, like when I can't apply those formulae to anything in practice, I like it to be simplified.

Well, this sure is a two-year-old dead thread about a dead RO server that got bumped with an inscrutable spam post. I guess that means it's time to close it!

AngelicSlayer, in the future, please refrain from bumping ludicrously old, dead threads with inscrutable spam posts.
