Bard is descending a bit further into madness. Yet his actions are still marginally more coherent than some of the other players.

This little panel of Jack Hyland probably can be applied to Bard. Although it is only possible to understand if one reads Gunnerkrig Court.

Oh, I uh, cut off the bit of my last post that was talking with Nin.

It's been edited in now.

...Or something like that. IC approved it a while back, but I was lazy so I didn't post it up. Up to you what it'll do to you if it hits.

Teal Mage 06-07-2010 05:33 PM

This scene is stupid!

But those jellies sound adorable! <3

Inbred Chocobo 06-07-2010 10:18 PM

Steel, the ability also stated that it's brightness and color was determined by how strong it was. If you want to give it a strength, I suggest altering the way it actually appears.

Ohhh yeah, I remember something like that. I've kinda lost the original I sent you, could ya' send it back my way? :D

Still leaving strength and direction (and accuracy) up to Bard this one time though. Have fun with it!

Bard The 5th LW 06-08-2010 01:03 AM

Still working this out. Something frivolous and silly will arise.

Astral Harmony 06-08-2010 02:24 AM

Please don't reflect the beam with a stupid mirror and make me ten years old.

And since I'm playing as an Arc the Lad character, I'm envisioning the jams as the slimes in that game: just a big floating eyeball in a jello mold.

PyrosNine 06-08-2010 05:25 AM

Back from Insomnia land, and all I have to say is that when I think of Jam, I think of insane AI cats and their MSPaint artwork.

I've lost the original too, but it the color and brightness changes based on how strong it is is the only thing that you left out.

Arhra 06-17-2010 09:21 AM

Sorry AB, I... I couldn't resist. Feel free to shed the effects quickly if it's a pain.

Bard, communist robots are always a classic.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...russia-bot.jpg

See?

Boss battle with a time limit?

This countdown to large craters was my best idea ever.

EDIT: But on the other hand, writing the end of a post very late at night was not a good idea. Sorry if it was confusing. Hopefully this should make a little more sense of things.

Designing a monster form was very fun.

AB, I forgot to mention before that you made me very tempted to try something like the Snack Basket special attack from Bowser's Inside Story.

On the subject of jams, they looked deliciously spreadable.

Teal Mage 07-01-2010 07:23 PM

On the subject of the two attacks I just used, they're something like Avatar-Versions of two other abilities I've used in another RP.

Arhra might remember them!

Bard The 5th LW 07-23-2010 09:38 PM

I was gonna post, I swear! Slipped from my mind.

I'll get one up soon enough today.

Edit: there, got it up. Probably not dead forever. Probably.

Edit2: So anyone still interested in this?

mauve 07-23-2010 10:33 PM

Possibly. I might post soon. Maybe.

Steel Shadow 07-23-2010 11:31 PM

I'll post something once I've done something about the dozen other things I'm supposed to be writing, I swear!

Teal Mage 07-23-2010 11:47 PM

I'm just waiting on GM action myself.

PyrosNine 07-24-2010 12:06 AM

If you can recall, Pyros goes on cruises at this time of year, so I can't post until like, next Saturday.

Just assume Asheth is doing her bestest to command the troops while remaining out of Harm's way, and screaming out your name repeatedly when one of you dies, while also keeping vital information from you until the last possible moment.

Woohoo, tropics and all you can eat buffets here I come!

Arhra 07-28-2010 12:15 PM

There will be posting.

And, a surprise!

EDIT: This post... is a DISTACTION.

I'm so, so sorry Pyros.

But my greatest regret is having no idea what Geist looks like.

That was indeed awesome, Arhra. I approve.

Steel Shadow 07-28-2010 01:29 PM

I shall record my approval digitally and concur. That was indisputably awsome, Arhra.

Bard The 5th LW 07-28-2010 01:31 PM

Does this mean Bard gets revived and then dies again for every click Steel made?

Steel Shadow 07-28-2010 01:41 PM

I think we both know the answer to that.

20 times, by the way!

Edit: Y'know, I was originally thinking of reviving Bard this way, but then I decided against it/forgot.

Glad you liked it.

As for Steel, infinite mana is so ridiculously broken. I'm a little surprised that more people haven't taken Anger In A Pill.

He's holding on to the stockpile right now.

I've considered it!

But Rose is already freakishly overpowered for my tastes, even if she's pretty par for the Avvie course. So, I don't think I want to get any stronger.

Even if it would let me magic up sets of ultimate armor and accessories for everyone.

Hm, so a slightly damaged Arhra II is just walking toward AB, right? Suppose our attacks didn't do much to her either.

Bard The 5th LW 07-29-2010 06:19 PM

I'm saving Bard's fury for Chekhov's gun.

It's kinda hard to assess damage levels when the enemy is being all spooky like that.

Or is it that you don't look spooky when you're throwing up your own guts? Hmmm.

But yes, she has begun the slow walk of doom.

Astral Harmony 07-30-2010 06:03 PM

I guess it's finally time for Armored Bishoujo to die in this RP.

Well, at least I got to see a kickass picture of myself. Totally worth dying for.

Bard The 5th LW 07-30-2010 06:29 PM

Does AB still have the fury pills?

Because if she does she should totally use them.

Arhra II done jacked all those pills. I don't even have the one I was saving for myself.

Bard The 5th LW 07-31-2010 05:50 PM

I was considering having Bard throw one to you last turn, but 20 deaths and revivals is a bit draining.

They'll be around for a future Brick Joke though. Even if I have to wait till Avvy IX.

Teal Mage 07-31-2010 06:55 PM

Just a friendly reminder that this is a real boss, and that she probably won't be stopped by joke and reference based attacks, no matter how funny.

Also that, to work together, you don't need to have a plan, just support one another's attacks! Its very important.

I decided to return everyone's clothes as well. Partly to say sorry for embellishing AB's lines as much as I did (couldn't resist!) and partly because, uh, I think getting serious would be good now yes?

Incidentally, Fashion Full Life actually really sucks unless people get their default clothing swapped.

Also dropped the Sorceress powers gimmick. I have better ideas!

And those aren't copy-righted.

Shyria Dracnoir 07-31-2010 08:42 PM

Hopefully this won't end with me falling flat on my face :(

Um, from what little I know about the Fury plot, it's quite possible that the pills will stop working after it wraps up.

So while you've got it, flaunt it!

Numbers for ones that haven't been expended yet are as follows to the best of my knowledge:

Arhra II - at least 5 pills (4 active)
Arhra V - 2 pills (1 active)
Bard - 2 pills
Steel - 1 pill (1 active)

Steel's also got the remaining stockpile of 9 pills.

Teal Mage 07-31-2010 10:19 PM

I have a sinking feeling that something will stop me from having a wonderful time in the mysterious tower.

But in the event it doesn't, let's all save time by agreeing that if something doesn't stop us, Arhra shall just move those interested (and not otherwise committed) to the tower, kay?

Who's theoretically in!?

There could be anything in there!

Arhra 08-01-2010 07:44 AM

Oh, just remembered.

Yeah, to avoid holding up the action might be best if people say what they want to do in here right away.

I suppose I should have jumped straight to describing the corridor?

Well, the first part is obviously pretty dark, long, and kind of slimy since the jams passed through there. A few branching dead ends for where the jams are injected into the corridor. Obviously you could try going off the slimy trail if you wanted.

Overcast 08-01-2010 08:35 PM

Go team Diplomacy! I have this inherent feeling that this is just going to end very very badly for the blockhead and his fire breathing muscle. Though I only base this on everything going badly, all the time.

Ah, that's right. You got that handful of them earlier. Is that including the ones that have already been used up? And do you just have one active or more?

Anyway for everyone headed into the tower: your mission, should you choose to accept it, is telling us about your struggle with the horrifyingly inventive defences we run into as we get deeper in.

Some quick monster profiles:

Inflatable Clones: All the power of an evil twin, all the durability of a balloon!

Jack of Skeletons: You know how a skeleton normally has hips and legs and things? Not these! Instead there is another half-skeleton but upside-down. They're pretty agile, all things considered.

Mildly Psychic Levitating Brains: A disembodied brain supported by pure psionic energy alone. They attack by ramming, because levitation is the full extent of their psychic powers.

Kamikaze Bomb-Headed Robot Midgets: Picture a stick figure. Now imagine it is a robot that comes up to your waist with a bomb for a head.

Eagles: Oh no, eagles!

Don't feel forced to stick all of them in. Danger is pretty much nuisance level. I'd just like a snapshot of us pushing deeper into the tower. Be creative with the terrain.

Other ideas:
Sideways Pit
Standard Issue Death Course
Spooky Mirror
Giant Caterpillar
Gun That Shoots Bees
Giant Fan

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention the Jacks of Skeletons are stuck to giant playing cards. They are remarkably stable though.

Steel Shadow 08-07-2010 06:28 PM

I think (and am to lazy to check) that it's 3 active, 3 in pockets (though if there's that few of them left, he'll give 2 back). He's happy to hand out the pills, with the standard warnings of doom that's sure to befall us!

Arhra 08-10-2010 10:41 AM

Well, that too waaaaay too long to write. I wanted to do more but it was do it as it is or put it off another day.

While this little twist was planned, I wish I'd actually foreshadowed it in any way.

I'm so, so glad that fan didn't notice me.

PS: BEES! MY GOD!

PPS: Three minutes until doomsday. ^^

Teal Mage 08-10-2010 10:07 PM

I...

Well, I didn't really see this coming. I didn't think the stupid Arhra outside was II, but I didn't think she was under the tower! So, the reaction I had to finding out that she was under the tower, waiting for us, was something I tried to capture in Rose's reaction. It was hard to do, and I might have failed, but the gist of it was:

"Oh."

"...oh."

"Oh."

Really though, this is only bad if you look at the situation from all angles. We're still many to her one! But she's also one of the strongest members of the PCs, hyped on four Fury Pills, and apparently very angry. Also wanting to kill us.

I'm sure it'll be fine though! We have Arhra I.

Edit: To toss a personal post review up, I wasn't happy with how...rushed it felt. I might go back and slow it down later, but I probably won't. Fixing posts that way is harder than it sounds.

Overcast 08-11-2010 02:44 AM

Note to self, add more sexual connotations when attempting to grab female characters and enemies for enhancement and crippling effects.

Bard The 5th LW 08-12-2010 07:53 PM

I vote that someone gets a horse due to time shenanigans.

Steel Shadow 08-12-2010 07:54 PM

Incidentally,

Quote:

"NO! NO! FUCK YOU!" Bard shouted, "FUCK YOU AND THE TEMPORALLY DISPLACED HORSE YOU RODE IN ON!"
Has become my favorite line in all of Avvy.

PyrosNine 08-13-2010 08:19 AM

Had it in my head for the last three days since white mage Arhra's woobieness. Also, wanted to work in the scrubs reference forever.

My personal belief is that Arhra IX may just be Pyros in the future screwing around in the past, but also trademarking the rights to the name Arhra IX via for monetary and Sexy Chupacabra purposes.

Arhra 08-30-2010 09:36 AM

Bleh, I write no good lately.

Post tomorrow, come Hell or high water!

Bard The 5th LW 08-30-2010 02:32 PM

HOORAH!

PyrosNine 08-30-2010 08:30 PM

Pyros sorry! Whenever I write a long, possibly drug fueled post, posting suddenly dies!

I have noticed this! It may be all in my head but my head is all that matters!

From now on, my posts will be only Devil Summoner: Raido Kuzunoha level insanity, and three paragraph length!

Also, Arhra IX will speak in Ultraviolet, which should make my posts easier to read.

Arhra 08-31-2010 10:16 AM

I... I've been waiting to use that picture.

And Arhra II is totally going to try and junct... er, absorb Arhra I because that is what evil sorceresses do.

Even if it involves magic entirely unlike what they're supposed to have. It's probably plot significant, or something.

Although I suppose she should really be trying to do it to Steel.

Anyway, things might be a little rushed. Inbred kinda wants his RP back and I can't blame him for that.

PyrosNine 08-31-2010 03:56 PM

Inbred can have his RP back when he is actually here to pry it back.

...Also, Bleach? In my AVATAR VIII?

Teal Mage 09-02-2010 06:49 AM

I don't know if this will work or not, but I wanted to run with this idea while I had come creative drive.

The post might not even be any good!

But, I suppose Rose (Teal) is showing a bit of her character this time. This mess is, in a twisted way, her fault. So, she's not willing to accept Arhra I being absorbed into Arhra II, especially after the things that II said. I suppose you could say she feels responsible for I?

Either way, I'm really not sure how well this will turn out. As was demonstrated with the spell deflection, II's normally stronger than Rose would be, so a straight out battle probably won't work in her favor. II's on Fury, you know.

Oh, speaking of battle, Rose only countered the needles coming toward her and I. So, AB, Bard and maybe Pryos and Mauve (if they're there) should still be in danger.

So, let's see some replies people!

Arhra 09-02-2010 08:29 AM

This would all be so much easier if you people would just take drugs.

The moral of the story is drugs give you superpowers.

PyrosNine 09-02-2010 10:18 AM

But D.A.R.E. told me not to use drugs, not even if they would give me extra superpowers in a post by post forum game 10-15 years into the future!

They were really definite about that! And not telling me what D.A.R.E. stood for. Drugs Are Really Evil, I presumed.

Teal Mage 09-02-2010 05:21 PM

Haven't had a chance to ask for Drugs!

Not sure if I'd take them right now though, time doesn't feel right for a Green Rock power up. Still, the option would be nice.

@Pyros, I don't think D.A.R.E. was ever in this situation.

mauve 09-02-2010 07:37 PM

Where exactly are all the Fury pills at the moment? I know Steel's character had some a while back, but I dunno where he or anyone else with superpower drugs are now.

Also: would it help if we joined forces and did some kinda cheezy Super Powered Fury Combo Attack? For great justice?

Teal Mage 09-02-2010 09:14 PM

I don't know about doing something like that Mauve, scene seems a little serious to be throwing a cheesy combination attack out. I like the idea of working together though!

Combos have just, historically, been really hard to pull off in-character. I really do prefer to avoid them! Much easier to vaguely coordinate attacks to support and protect other characters, plus it leads to more fluid and interesting battles. I certainly can't defeat II on my own, but if you guys decide to work together!

Combination attacks are like a dumbed down version of teamwork, really. I won't stop you from trying, but there are many better ways to work together!

PyrosNine 09-02-2010 11:11 PM

Pyros agrees with Combo attack, but refuses to use fury pills, when teamwork is all that is needed. And Great justice.

I was just about to suggest a Combo attack when thinking over current events and my next posting opportunity, but I wondered who was playing now who'd be compatible for a Nein style combo.

I suggest this: whoever can pull up the most awesome fighting game/rpg/other media character combo attack from Youtube gets to choose who to perform it with!

mauve 09-03-2010 12:51 AM

I think we can come up with way better stuff than youtube can.

Overcast 09-03-2010 01:00 AM

I dunno, choreography in graphics is a lot easier than choreography on paper. Unless you are copying the choreography in graphics to paper, which I think is what is being suggested here. Mostly because being able to see everyone interacting gives you a much better sense of how it all ties together to become the supermove.

Also Overcast is a jerk.

Arhra 09-05-2010 04:25 AM

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Looking back at things so far, all I can say is God, I am such a drama whore. I just can't resist it.

As for pills, Steel's guarding the cache. There's nine pills in it. In addition to this, Bard has two pills.

PyrosNine 09-05-2010 02:38 PM

Alright, fired the first step of the combo then! Feel free to add whatever you like!

Add extra explosiveness to the ball, put a forcefield around Arhra II to trap the explosion inside and double it's force felt on those inside it, stick 3 tons of C4 to the Giant fan, whatevah.

Also, if anyone wonders when they'll see a color + vehicle, it'll show up at around the same time this little escapade is over and we're back fighting evil aliens. Which is also around the same time Dr. Ethington will have the Spaceship ready.

Teal Mage 09-05-2010 06:13 PM

Thinking about on it, having two bosses in two seperate scenes named 'Arhra II' probably wasn't too smart, but now I'm feeling more confused than usual.

Because, as I'm reading this, Pyros attacked Arhra II with some kind of ambigiously sized magma ball. I assume its kinda huge, but the way you (talking to you Pyros) described it leaves a lot to question about what it is and what it does exactly. Is it just a hotter than usual fire ball? How big is it? Will it explode or something? Does magma get involved?

And which Arhra II did you throw it at? I assumed it was the one under the tower, but your post is pretty vague on location.

By the way Shryia, are you trying to bite one of the wrists strangling your neck? :ohdear:

Arhra 09-05-2010 08:28 PM

It seemed to me it was a exploding energy ball? Like a miniature sun going nova.

Pyros is underground.

Shyria, afraid what you're trying wouldn't really work. What Wing!II (and we finally have distinction) is going is using one of her big wing sets to grab on to Shyria's head and force it up and away from her to stop biting and fire (which might be a little tricky while getting strangled anyway). II is practically directly below Shyria's head and using her hands to strangle. Sorry for being vague.

Here is an extremely crappy doodle as a guide. It's roughly to scale at least.

There's other wings basically holding on or entangling Shyria's feet, but it would be too confusing trying to add them in.

While I think of it, Overcast, are you trying to use your Understatement? I kinda assumed it needed more physical contact than just a punch.

Overcast 09-05-2010 09:58 PM

Nope no Understatement, this time, he's just going to punch her. Imagine in the crappy(and by all other means awesome) doodle that he dynamic entries his way from the left with a good old giant golden robot level punch.

Which is in no way alluding to some sort of desire for you to continue a piece of illustrated fiction with a gentleman robot punching things.

Steel Shadow 09-06-2010 08:31 PM

I've done better, but there it is anyways. +1 to Steel's fury count, -1 to the bag's pill supply!

There's no way this can backfire!

Overcast 09-06-2010 09:48 PM

Somewhere Overcast is saddened by his inability to roid rage.

I've used Rain of Fire, Reign of Fire, Flame Cannon in various forms of effectiveness, Ultima Disrespect and Firey Latin Giantess.

In all that time, there has been one attack I've never gotten to use, because even for Avvy, it was too powerful (though I may have used it once on Raiden). Nova. Where, by releasing a good portion of my own energy at once, I create an explosion a fraction of the heat of the sun. I was informed by GMs and Scientists alike that even a fraction was really, really hot and destructive, even if I could somehow localize it within a perimeter.

Now, I am firing it as a ball (normally it's a "burst" attack where I release the energy in a sphere around myself at close range) about 2/3rds my size as an ill-thought out ranged attack, underground, surrounded by an enemy, and my allies, who are about to get hopped up on fury pills.

Good times!
