Asking a favor of everyone
 

Hey all,

This time of year is very difficult on my wife. I'll be very honest with you all, I got involved with someone else last year around this time and today marks the 1 year anniversary where I confessed, ended it and began trying to rebuild my life with Rai. This is the reason I didn't hold the party I specified in my other thread...it's an embarrassing thing to discuss, but is a personal demon that I guess I can't ever get past unless I am honest about it. Yeah I'm a reformed cheater...don't do it people, it only hurts the ones you love. It rewards their love with disregard and dismissal. It's cruelty in its purest form. Never, ever do it, no matter how justified or unhappy you may think you are. Be honest to your goddamn partner. Break up if you have to but don't fuck around.

The favor part...I told her I would do everything I could to try and help her through today since I am stuck at work and I can't be with her. I really wish I could, but I don't have the time off available with some stuff coming up at the end of the month. And she said "You know there's barely anything you can do." She's more or less right, so I'm calling on you guys - if anyone would be so kind, would you be willing to email her at fayn.halenaryn@gmail.com and just say something to the effect of "Your [adjective] husband wants you to know he loves you"? I just want her to have a little bit of happiness through the day and to try and find a way to be there for her in spirit if I can't in person.

For reference, just for today to prove exactly what kind of day it's going to be, our new kitten just took a huge steaming crap on our bedspread and it leaked through to the mattress.

You know what, at least you fessed up about it and didn't deny it or anything and then tried to make it better and rebuild your life. Besides sometimes the stupid male instinct to bang females overrides your brain going "NO NO NO NO". Everyone gets weak about things sometimes.

Though, I have to warn you, my friends wife hasn't let him up for cheating on her and that happened 10 years ago, so you're going to hear about this a lot( and lose a lot of silly and pointless arguments because she'll probably bring it up just to win, regardless of how irrelevant it is to the argument.)

I could add a cute wittle picture of Annabel in the e-mail to make her smile.(Though the little brat puked on another fucking phone...my wife's this time.)

Fortunately it never got physical - it was a colleague through work but in another state - but it was emotional and spiritual and I think that was actually far more devastating to Nikki. I'm doing everything I can to make up for it. Thanks to you guys for support/etc. :)

Yeah it's been extremely difficult on her though. I don't expect to hear the end of it for some time, but she has come tremendously far, all things considered. She didn't have much self-esteem beforehand so I was instrumental in crippling that...but she's really impressed me and made me proud. You ever get that feeling where you really actually feel like you don't deserve someone's love? Yeah I've felt that a lot of times after what I did, but she still loves me.

It could be a lot worse.

I really like to hit an audiobook when I'm really depressed & at odds. Audible.com usually has a deal for new members, of a free trial audiobook. If you want a recommendation, I'd suggest any of the Dresden books by Jim Butcher.

The entire series is up on Audible, and they are all read rather excellently by James Marsters.

I'd send Rai an e-mail, but after a few attempts to put something together. It just sounded too awkward each time.

It's like the story of the awkward stork. She flew around, and saw impending danger, like a flood or something. She didn't know what to say to the frog, and she was too shy to talk to the crabby snapping turtle. Then everyone died! You don't want to kill frogs and snapping turtles, do you?

At this point, only a few of the regulars have been around long enough to have had real contact with her. Well, maybe half or so of people who actually stick around and less of the most active posters.

To see you here making some hamfisted attempt at reconciliation after likely smashing her dreams to pieces with your carelessness makes me sick.

Funka, he knows he fucked up. He's not pretending otherwise, and he's been dealing with the consequences for a year now. This isn't reconciliation; this is a guy asking some people to show their support and maybe try and make her day a little better.

I don't know what is motivating Shiney to share something this personal other than the forum being important to him/ them, but I think we can afford to not be judgmental assholes about something we have no reason to be judgmental assholes about.

Nobody is acting like they are. The way I see it, Shiney wants to do something for her, because he does actually feel bad about it and would do anything he could to make it right. Unfortunately, he really doesn't know what he can do to make it right. I don't think anyone would. He's asking a community that he is a part of and that means something to him to help him out, because that's the only thing he can think of to do. Regardless of whether or not that's the right course of action to take, your immediate, overblown hostility changes nothing, makes nothing better, and is just plain unnecessary.

I'm not even going to really comment apart from the fact that Rai too discussed this over the internet with my understanding and support so discussing it over the internet is not something she or I are unfamiliar with. Our relationship was BUILT on the internet, and in fact in this community. So honestly I mean while everyone's opinions do matter I think I am justified more or less in saying Funka, shut the fuck up, you're out of your element.

Everyone: Thank you so much for your show of support. I wasn't able to be physically available for Rai most of yesterday and having random messages and lolcats and other cute pictures of babies and StarCraft boxes and shit brighten up her day honestly did help. In actuality we ended up getting through yesterday and it kept getting better and better as the day went on; I don't feel that would have been possible without you guys' support. Thank you.

I am still open to being publicly or privately berated; synk you can PM me if you want. ;) Funka too. But what I won't tolerate is someone who sprays their own personal life like the pages of a book, remarking in detail about their sexual/bisexual conquests with manbearpigs or whatever, taking the high road against someone who is just trying to do right by what amounts to a crime he committed. I just want to do right by Rai. It's no more complicated than that.

I want to thank everyone again for helping me out with this. It is a humiliating thing to go through, let alone to confess to people you've known for years, but I appreciate you guys' support. It really did help Rai have a much better day than she likely otherwise would have. The reconciliation continues...it's a Process and I have a long way to go because you don't make up for pulling a shitty move like this, even after a whole year. It's a mistake, but it's also a betrayal. Seriously...don't do it... :|

Anyways...I'm gonna waste time later and spread admin-rep lovins'! 'Cause you guys earned somethin' and I sure as hell don't have anything tangible to give (except to those who live close enough to attend Rai's party come September 4th) soooo I'll at least try to make more sparkly green gems appear.
