What's your favorite 8bit moment?

Discuss and offer forth which 8bit comic is/are your favorite(s). This thread will be sticked and kept open.

transcend 11-18-2003 11:55 PM

The 120's. Genius.

Anyway, Viper, are you closing the other thread like this, or will you let it die a natural death?

Dark Shooter 11-19-2003 12:00 AM

#276, The Full Page Splash Panel Battle. It's hard to show a real battle in a sprite comic, but this episode was done really quite well, along with a REALLY hilarious final move by Fighter.

stFalcon5 11-19-2003 12:04 AM

24. I knew that off the top of my head. o_o

Seriously, there were so many parts of that comic that became classic 8-bit Theater.

JuggyFWB 11-19-2003 12:06 AM

186 and 187. Absolutly HILARIOUS.

Solid Snake 11-19-2003 12:06 AM

My favorite episode overall is probably #108: Garland Just Don't Get It. Garland's characterization was hiliarious (and most unexpected), but even better was the hidden laughs with BM in the background.

It doesn't have the best lines of dialogue in 8BT, but 108's struck me as the most creative and hysterical episode when all's said and done.

Jeice 11-19-2003 12:10 AM

#335: You Can't Keep a Bad Elf Down

That's basically how the IRS works in the real world too.

Sakae 11-19-2003 12:31 AM

Episode 26 & 27 & 28. Gold. Pure, unadulterated, comedy GOLD.

SoulMan 11-19-2003 01:20 AM

I'm gonna have to go with Juggy for 186 and 187, mostly because they showcase the best character in any video game, anywhere: :bmage: BM!! :bmage: :D Comedy Gold, that.

fzh 11-19-2003 01:45 AM

In General I prefer the older comics. I love the Survivor series, and I loved Garland and Sara plotting together. And Garland and the Imps! Some favorites are: 59, 65, 79 106 119 and 121. But my No. 1 favorite has to be 105, Gettin' Closer to Garland's!!!

Sakae 11-19-2003 01:52 AM

Methinks the archive will see an explosion of activity tonight...

Shadow 11-19-2003 02:43 AM

#201 "Does He Work for Best Buy"
and 185 -> 188
those are classics. oh silly Black mage with his evil side and his atrociously evil side. Great, now i'm hungry. :bmage:

Deathosaurus Wrecks 11-19-2003 03:01 AM

64 and 65. i have bad dreams of giant face hugging, hair living spiders.

No1LikesYou 11-19-2003 03:18 AM

Generally, my favorite comic is the most recent one I've read. If I do have one favorite from the past it would be... can't remember the number. The one with the Giant taking out the Light Warriors. Fighter>"Why are you taking a step backwards?" Evil Princess Sara>"It's called pattern recognition. Look into it." ::club smashes Fighter::

Oh, that evil royalty. So real, I find.

Ufai_Rebellion 11-19-2003 03:45 AM

Number 278 "Getting off on a technicallity"
Mostly because of Black mages attempts to copy fighter (stealing fighters plans? You gotta be pretty desperate)
And his disbelief at RM's escape

Bezo 11-19-2003 04:04 AM

I'm loving the latest ones with the Dwarves. But my favourite episodes are always the Garland episodes. Brian, all your stuff is great, but Garland is solid gold.

Tenjin Matsukaru 11-19-2003 07:14 AM

Episodes 26-28. Truely seeing BM get smacked upside the head about 10 times has got to get anyone laughing for at least three minutes.

:bmage: ---> Ribs...Broken. Organs...Bleeding. Spleen still unaccounted for...(Wheeze)

souma_shigure82 11-19-2003 07:43 AM

the best comics imo have to be numbers 199, and 200. that was the most creative thing ive seen. and its funny as hell that bm was making fun of asians. (i can say this cuz i am asian, but anyone else can too if they want)

Skuzz 11-19-2003 10:06 AM

My Favs are 20 (makes me laugh every time) or anything with Garland

BlackPhoenix 11-19-2003 10:13 AM

:bmage:
It's got the be Episode 006: Time to make a stand It's a classic... (and my avatar too ^^)

Oh, BTW: Hi, I'm new :D

Oh, the best has to be 199. YOU THANKING VERY MUCH BRACK BELT SAN!!! Genius, especially the cheesy "Asian" lettering. And of course 48 with Black Mage in his usual classy fashion suggesting graphic activities with White Mage. Good times, good times...

Blackest Pitch 11-19-2003 10:47 AM

Virtually ANY comic with Garland in, particularly 52, 53 and 54, what with them being his first appearance and all.

Oh, and I really have to point out 272: Mind Games. I love that comic to death. Coupled with 270.

'You realize of course this means Fighter is the smartest.'
'I want to cry, but there aren't enough tears.'

The Werewolf Lord 11-19-2003 12:19 PM

Fighter is the coolest character! He says the best lines!

Of course, Black Mage is awesome. But I like Fighter better! Then again. None of them would be the same, if the other didn't excist. They are a team. Gotta love 'em both!

Mags 11-19-2003 01:34 PM

24. Laughed my butt off. Reminds me of me.

sorry if i interfered :bmage:

R.Y.N.O. Might 11-19-2003 02:39 PM

How can I possably decide? every one is so awesome.

Mikorlias Zard 11-19-2003 02:57 PM

My favourites are 270-285 (big chunk I know, but they are sooo funny) and any that involve the mass slaughter of dwarves, those pesky little bearded...

LoadBalinor 11-19-2003 03:19 PM

I LOVED episose 272: Mind Games
http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=030412
It proves that fighter isn't as dumb as we all thought or perhaps that he is dumber than we all thought. Either way, its funny. :fighter:

Neverwhere 11-19-2003 04:56 PM

272 is awesome. course so is 08,19,25,28,71, ok.. im tired of looking through archives... my eyes hurt  too many to list them all

Lost in Time 11-19-2003 05:26 PM

I really like episode 82 (Mrph... Is that you pie?) Along with Episode's 180-190 (C'mon everybody! Do the Black Mage. 'Specially you White Mage!) I love that clump of episodes. Black Mage really does follow his good side.

Ryto 11-19-2003 05:34 PM

Yeah, 272 is great...and the dwarves part right now, that is also hilarious!

Xiaous 11-19-2003 05:38 PM

48!

Only because BM goes postal in 49!

ReD_BeArD 11-19-2003 05:56 PM

Favourite episode

The best one is #65. Hands down :P

CountD 11-19-2003 07:18 PM

I love anything with Garland, and its nice to get an update on how he and his band of villians are doing.
I liked BM's assualt on the elderly quest.
And I liked the conversation between the King and Princess Sarah in 344. 'Hole in the head' hahahahahaha...

Introduction 11-19-2003 07:36 PM

Episode 195: Textuality and Time

lymerion 11-19-2003 07:41 PM

Boatdoken. 'nuff said.

Archdeco 11-19-2003 09:38 PM

Lymerion, that avatar is hypnotic.

Anyway, I spent a while browsing the archives, but there have been classic moments all around. I think the dream sequences show just how far he's been planning ahead, though.

morbid reich 11-19-2003 09:44 PM

Well, I like 'em all. "Missiledoken," and the current elf thingy are both awesome.

The PyschoSoldier 11-19-2003 10:07 PM

Ep 82
BMs addiction to his pecan pie needs to be played out more. . .that episode made me laugh till my sides hurt (which probably had something to do with me falling out of my chair) and i will never forget that "mrph is that you pie?" line. . .pure genius

take a look. . .
http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=010927

Sax 11-19-2003 10:11 PM

I love the interludes. They are right after #68, lol.

SoulMan 11-19-2003 11:49 PM

interludes are good stuff.very good stuff. :D

Xeerot 11-20-2003 12:10 AM

Hmm

I would have to go with 106...how can you resist pie

Also 32 because red mage reminds me of a couple of friends, and fighter's last line is pretty funny.

Whitemage 11-20-2003 12:19 AM

So hard...

What attracted me to this comic was the sheer simalarity between me and Blackmage. Sept I'm less of a pevert and am not so hellbent on being "evil".

I'm going to have to go with that wizard who messed with the fabric of all reality simply to eat dinner without having to prepare it first.

SoulMan 11-20-2003 12:23 AM

but..your white mage, how can you two be alike? arent you supposed to hate him?

Whitemage 11-20-2003 12:40 AM

It's all in the alignment...

I'm a political zealous who rants about how religoun and common sense are detorating in our democratic induced society thinking "equality" is the most important thing. This equality peverses our schools and our children, famiely, and hell maybe even pet's brains with the thought that all opinions are equal. Which they infact are not. Cause if they were there would be no scholars or philosophers. Some people simply know more then other people. But liberals seem to confuse "having a voice" to "equality".

So in that aspect I am lawful...

I try to be good, unfourtanatly.. my niceness has many limitations when dealing with men. As men are stupid, and yes even I'm stupid. So where as a girl would immideatly get a heal3 and kiss on the cheek for good measure, a guy I would nudge with my foot and say "suck it up wuss, we got a quest to complete." and if that didn't work I'd pee on his corpse. It's what I call "motivation." Also if it were up to me the goverment would control everything and enforce the rule of amish lifestyle on all civvilians.

So again, lawful, but leaning towards neutral. ( I'm not going to let my teammates die, maybe make them limp for a while though. It's funny, deal with it.. )

I've been compared to many people. From Michal Moore, Confusious, to Erik Cartman. I'm just too evil to be Whitemage, but too bent on justice to be Blackmage.

And I sure as hell aint Redmage. Bards, pheh! 'Oh looky! I'm gonna' write a poem and sing a song about trees!'

Xiaous 11-20-2003 12:59 AM

Oh, I see a new episode online now!

Sheets of paper work great for undercover.

And for those paying attention to my fav character, HENCE why i said Princess Sarah is the evilest of them all.

Oh yeah, episode 302. Gotta love the eye BEAMS!

SoulMan 11-20-2003 01:04 AM

got it now, white :D

SoulMan 11-20-2003 01:04 AM

by the way, whitemage, sweet sprite, is it from a game?

Tenjin Matsukaru 11-20-2003 03:45 AM

I'm ok with the whole Light Warriors thing but seriously people get your priorities straight. Humanity needs to be saved from ITSELF first.
Whitemage I agree totally with your sense of duty despite the fact that I happen to be a Shadow Ninja and therefore closer aligned to BM... Oh well.
(PS: this is totally in character, I love 8-bit theater in all its forms. LIGHT WARRIORS, HO!)

stuper of thought 11-20-2003 10:50 AM

my all time favorite is the 6th E3 guest comic. rm in it totally reminds me of someone i know who's into D&D

chip612 11-20-2003 12:27 PM

my favorites are #72 and #305. i couldn't stop laughing.

Vivion 11-20-2003 06:13 PM

My favorite is Kamehameha!... or something. I'm a Street Fighter/Marvel Versus Capcom fanatic, so I cracked up when I saw :bmage: use the hadoken for the first time.

Whitemage 11-20-2003 11:26 PM

Yep Soulman, this IS from a game, FF3 to be exsact. There was no FF3 in America. It was bassically the epilouge to FF1. Where the light warriors came and went, and four crazy bald men in crappy armor claimed to be the light warriors, yes, and they're allowed to join your party go figure.. -_-;;

Sollessio 11-21-2003 05:37 AM

I really couldn't pick one, but I just read the current latest, 355, and the sheet idea was a stroke of genius. :D

Minor Dizaster 11-21-2003 07:46 PM

I would have to say Episode 103: Those Wacky Light Warriors because the last frame is absolutely priceless.

Minor Dizaster 11-21-2003 07:52 PM

Wait, no, I lied. Vacation 2003: #3 Requiem for a Black Mage is the best. I was cracking up for weeks. (Sorry Brian, but this guest comic was hilarious.)

Kaishakunin 11-21-2003 11:13 PM

My favorite is definitely bm's story 197. This one had two classic moments, the first "Now that everyone's here and brought back from the brink of stabbity death..." and then bm's little fairy tale was great. I wonder what woman he was talking about ;).

Tenjin Matsukaru 11-22-2003 12:17 AM

That sorta goes without saying Kaishakunin anyway yeah that was a good episode

Dr.cool 11-22-2003 06:45 AM

Episode 106: Hey, They Made It

Heh heh
:bmage: Theif? Red Mage? Moron?

AND
Free Pie

Then
Free Pie The pie is also evil

TinHand 11-23-2003 02:41 AM

In my humble, but very wise, opinion. The very best eppisode ever has to be #272: Mind Games. This features fighter using his least known super-power pretty much the only time in the series: His brain. Check it out.

~~TinHand

dee_red_mage 11-23-2003 04:21 AM

Anything with Red Mage Plotting Somthing.

GRRRRR!!! I KEEP FORGETING THE EPISODE NUMBERS!!

TrowaSoldier58 11-23-2003 01:04 PM

My favorites are definitely episodes 318-325 (not including those messed up vacation things), when black mage get stuck under the giant and fighter "saves" him

Juno X 11-23-2003 09:28 PM

The one where BM dances on Fighter's grave.HaHa.

pkmnfrk 11-23-2003 10:31 PM

Don't forget #59:

Hey, what are you doing with that knife? Argh! You're stabbing repeatedly in the face! I said you could borrow the ladder! There's no reason to assault me! ARRRRRGH! Now you're kicking me as I lay bleeding in the streets in broad daylight while everyone wanders about aimlessly as though you were not mercilessly beating me! Ghhhk! Now you're choking me! Vision... Tunneling... Can't seem to... stay... awake... Wheeze.

Go BM! :bmage:

Mr. Viewtiful 11-24-2003 12:03 AM

"And then I shoot Lazers Beams powered with swords (whic are also laser powered!!!!!!!!!!"

Fighter would make a good sprite comic author...

Resaith_Yeoress 11-24-2003 12:33 AM

Hmmm... So many good scenes... but I suppose my favourites are:

1) Vacation 2003: #3 Requiem for a Black Mage
2) Any one that involves Stabbity Death

or

3) Any one that involves BM trying to pick up WM! :p

Riak Karasawa 11-24-2003 04:17 PM

The THREE SCENES IN ONE COMIC ITS MADNESS!
heh squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak

Feroz's Familiar Pheldy 11-25-2003 06:33 AM

demo1: unwisely pissing of the fanbase
:bmage: I really hate how they just reuse their images
:fighter: you mean how they just reuse images from games or how they just copy paste the same panel over and over again in a desperate attempt to fill space

:bmage: both

GreatHobo 11-27-2003 04:21 AM

" 'Welcome to Corneria!' 'I like swords' 'Welcome to Corneria!' 'I like swords' 'Welcome to Corneria!' 'I like swords' "
"We could stealth sue you"
And of course 270, 272, 278, all of that whole Drizz'l stuff

Doomsday 11-28-2003 06:01 PM

they are all my favorites. especially the ones where black mage is himself, or fighter is his moronic self :bmage:

Dragon Mage 11-29-2003 05:12 PM

I LOVE Episodes 121: More Fun with White Mage and Black Belt and 136: Double Black Belt Trouble. The straight line thing is the best!

Knife After Dark 12-02-2003 12:03 AM

Definitly 193! There was nothing to do but laugh

:rmage: DEFEND THE MIGHTY BARRACKS!!!

199 comes in a close second and 248 comes in third place cause of the ending.

FigureFive 12-02-2003 08:59 PM

Episode 72: Why Does it Always End in Murder?

Because violence is fun.

Episode 105: Gettin' Closer to Garland's

"I am Garland, would you like some fresh-baked cookies?"

Truce 12-03-2003 12:00 AM

229, hands down.

RM: Nautical shmautical. Give me one hour and I'll learn enough to sail us into orbit!
Fighter: I don't think-
RM: Orbit, I say!
BM: Look, we don't have an hour for you to memorize the ship's owner's manual.
RM: Give me six hours and I'll master time magic! Then we'll have all the time that we need.
BM: You're not a very good tactician, are you, Red Mage?

cosmic_spider2099 12-05-2003 06:49 PM

I don't know what is my favorite because I like them all and I think they all are pretty cool but if I had to chosse it would be the one when mage and thief started killing the dwarfs and they enjoyed it lol.
