Helping out my Mom
 

Thought about just putting this in the personal problems thread, but it's not really a personal problem, or whatever, but regardless: My mom's dog needs surgery for her legs, and we can't really afford it.

As such my sister started a gofundme page for it: http://www.gofundme.com/42veyw

I'm not necessarily asking anyone to donate anything, though if you could that'd be great. What'd also be great is just giving it more visibility with anyone you think might care. It's a lot of money to raise, and I come from a family of loners, so I doubt the ability to raise it just with our own personal networks.

Anyway: If you can help either with donations or just by posting it on facebooks/tumblrs/wherever, you have my, and my family's, gratitude. If not, that's cool too.

Man, this saddens me :< no lil poocher should be in pain like that. As it is I'm barely making ends meet, otherwise i'd toss a chunk o' dosh towards Mya.

I'll post it to where some folk i know might see this. Can't guarantee anything'll come out of it, though.

If you want, I can sticky this so more folks are likely to pay attention to it.

Nah, but seriously, I get that. I hardly make any money myself and I've seen your employment issues.

Thanks for spreading it, though. The more people who see it, the more people who actually can afford to donate are likely to do so.

I actually have that power myself! I just didn't think to do it at the time. Probably wouldn't have, anyway, so as not to step on any toes, but if you're offering I'll just click the button.

Mostly just bumping this. We're at about 5.5% of what we need, which isn't bad, but if any of you guys could share it more or even just toss in 5 dollars I'd be really grateful.

Pyros gets paid Friday, in the first time since forever, so remind me of this Fri-Sat, and I'll do my part. Hopefully I get paid this Friday, if not, I'm going to quit my job and STILL spot you $10 regardless.

kinda hard to share this with folks outside the US, but i know a couple of people who might be able to pitch in as well. Hope this works out well.

Update: with the money we had so far and $600 of our own we were able to get one of her legs done. That leaves $2.3k for the other leg but that's not as urgent with one leg finished.

She just had the surgery yesterday and is at home recuperating. The hardest thing for her seems to be that, with her need to heal, we have to keep her away from the other dogs which means staying in a (admittedly, spacious) dog tent. . . Thing.

When I checked on her a bit ago she got up and was even wagging her tail. . . Until she fought her way out and I think tired herself out/aggravated her hip in the process.

Point is she seems to be doing okay considering they cut out the ball joint of her hip (and carved up her knee). Physical therapy starts in two weeks to build muscle and ensure she has full range of motion.

Glad she's doing a little better.

Dog... tent?

I know very well just how much a dog can mean to someone, so I'm immensely glad to hear that your doggy is doing better.
