"I Just Bought My First SNES!" or "Super Mario: The Red Menace!"

It and a game (Super Mario World) cost me a good sixty bucks.

What other games should I look for on Amazon?

Roland 10-18-2013 02:35 AM

Super Metroid.

synkr0nized 10-18-2013 02:38 AM

some initial suggestions

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Starfox FX
Super Mario World
Earthworm Jim
Final Fantasy VI (IIIUS)
Chrono Trigger

There are plenty of other games, for sure, but those are ones I still replay -- and I think many would agree are top-list titles (Perhaps not EWJ, but it's given me a lot of laughs, so screw it).
I didn't own a Metroid game until Prime, but that's a good suggestion as well!

Most of the Final Fantasies that I want, and Chrono Trigger, I own through the PSX copies.

Illusion of Gaia and Inindo: Way of the Ninja are both pretty good. Well, I'm gonna have to hedge on Inindo a bit since it's not for everyone. The music and graphics are NOT up to snuff for a SNES era game, but it's got a cool mix of RPG and strategy elements as well as a fairly crazy amount of freedom in how you go about accomplishing the plot.

As for Illusion of Gaia, I don't have to hedge on that at all; it's just a pretty badass example of SNES adventure games. Also, the music, man... the music.

Oh, add Megaman X to that list!

Satan's Onion 10-18-2013 05:45 AM

In the same vein as Illusion of Gaia--you might look for Soul Blazer, which is sort of spiritually related to it. Kirby Super Star is also tons of fun, as is almost any of the Donkey Kong Country games.

Also, I don't know if you'll find it, but if you run across a reasonably-priced copy of EarthBound, snap it right up. It's worth every penny.

Another game related to Illusion of Gaia is Terranigma, it didn't get released in the US, but did get a European release.

Also, if you like Secret of Mana, you should check out Secret of Evermore.

THe beautiful thing about the SNES is that you can get your hands into some pretty cheap stuff if you like to play around with weird and little known games.

Thanks to Game Grumps i can suggest SkyBlazer to things you would like. As well as Demon's Crest. Pilotwings is neat too.

Rock n' roll racing
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
Super Mario All Stars (will conclude your mario fix)
Contra 3
Megaman 7
Super Castlevania 4
Super Punch Out
Donkey Kong Country
Yoshi Island
Sunset Riders

that should set your SNES collection. But please, give yourself the gift of gaming by hitting ebay and picking up some cheap games with cool covers from all over the world.

Tetris Attack! So good.

EWJ is a good title, but EWJ2 is far superior. Far more polished in my opinion.

Chrono Trigger on the PSX is a mess of terrible loading speeds in the menu
at least try the SNES version just to compare.

Of course, these dyas you can get it for 10 bucks on the Wii U.

PyrosNine 10-18-2013 06:50 PM

Pyros himself just got a super-famicom classic controller and loaded up on the Wii.

Specifically, because both of his Snes's have not aged too terribly well, and cartridges are still the bane of my existence sometimes.

Not really big on the Castlevania series, or the Megaman series, though.

Why did you pay 60 dollars for an SNES and SMW, that's like, 20 bucks or something, even in the wilds of Canada one would think.

synkr0nized 10-26-2013 05:21 PM

Rocket racing Psy Crow was way better.

EWJ 2 feels more "lol we're random and wacky" than the first. The original title had some goofiness, but it also was genuinely funny without walking that line into the inane.

Though in fairness after the first game one kind of has to step it up into that, I guess.

But nothing excuses constantly making me save Peter's puppies.
