Soldiers of Light Discussion 1

Wow, haven't made one of these in a while.

ANYWAY, sorry about that all. Had hoped to have it up earlier today, but I work until 7:30 on Mondays (I work whenever my clients are available, which for the older autistic children means when they get out of school), and then run an Exalted Dragonblooded game afterwards. I had figured I would just make the thread while I was GMing, but things got pretty crazy in the Heptagram so...yeah.

ANYWAY 2.0, the thread is up. Feel free to gather at your appointed spots and do the customary introduction post.

Krylo 05-06-2014 02:27 AM

Dragonbloods.

Pah.

Usurpers and pretenders to the throne of creation, whose decadence only fails to match their true master's because of their incompetence.

Overcast 05-06-2014 02:50 AM

We should lock them all in shackles so they may carry us upon our massive golden palanquins.

Arhra 05-06-2014 07:08 AM

Nay, step forth in terror and splendor, and when they fall upon their knees in fear and adoration, scatter them to the deepest wilderness. Have them toil for a thousand years to carve new lands out of the madness past the world's edge. Then they might properly display their contrition and work toward a Creation worthy of the Solars' glory.

Raiden 05-07-2014 12:07 AM

I prefer Solars and Lunars, but the people wanted a Social Dragonblooded game. So they got one. Gives me something to do while I set up the Dresden Files RPG I'm running set in the US Badlands.

Arhra 05-07-2014 06:20 AM

This just in: Leer completely adorable. More at ten.

PhoenixFlame 05-08-2014 03:17 AM

Kurama, despite his player's love for exalted, hasn't learned how to treat with gods. 10 points from Gryffindor.

Leer still adorable. Best minion.

Overcast 05-08-2014 05:12 AM

Aidas has many concepts in him, tact is not exactly one of them.

Sithdarth 05-08-2014 02:36 PM

Finally an excuse to creep everyone out. (Also, I apologize for any weirdness I've been awake for 32 hours doing SCIENCE!)

Steel Shadow 05-09-2014 09:21 AM

Why does my life always go to heel when these things start? Geeze, I should stop signing up for them. Oh well, to late now.

Dracorion 05-09-2014 11:30 AM

Sorry it took me a while, but finally I bring you the Imara we all deserved, but not the one we needed.

Astral Harmony 05-09-2014 01:10 PM

What does Team Kurama need of her? Should she have some Pokemon?

Steel Shadow 05-09-2014 01:12 PM

Imara brings a vital element to any party: someone for bad things to happen to who deserves it.

Dracorion 05-09-2014 01:42 PM

Now that's just mean, Imara didn't deserve any of what happened to her.

PhoenixFlame 05-09-2014 08:20 PM

That's what you think, anyway.

Dracorion 05-09-2014 09:21 PM

Man, I could go into a whole spiel about how people who challenge demon gods to duels and other people who release said demon gods from jail are more deserving of having bad things happen to them.

Mind, Imara did ask for a couple of the things that happened but that doesn't mean she deserved 'em.

Yeah, who do you think absorbed the brunt of all the horrible things that happened? It wasn't Imara, I can tell you that. Getting turned into a Ice Sidhe is not what I'd call a horrible development. (At least she fulfills the role of our Cirno.)

Emphasis added for RMB.

Arhra 05-10-2014 08:03 AM

I would like to register a complaint.

I do not think the working conditions are fair between the forces of Good and Evil.

For example, the forces of Good have been provided tea, while the forces of Evil had to bring their own. I do not think Lord Talkatz will be providing dinner either. Also Kurama's house has chairs, while Talkatz's castle only has one. While I would not imagine asking Lord Talkatz to give up his seat, I think it should be noted.

I should hope not. The same people who use chairs probably wear their shoes indoors. The nerve.

Steel Shadow 05-10-2014 02:14 PM

Requesting we reorganize into Team Manners and Team Thug.

Good thing Leer never wears shoes then. He's good no matter where he goes. He has the awful habit of tracking dirt though.

Please place all complaints in the complaint box.

Be sure that your complaint is written in Print (no cursive), that you write legibly, and that your name and the names of any kin or loved ones be included at the top. The form on the back of any precious belongings or pets is optional to fill out, though will ensure a more immediate response to your complaint.

Also, waiting on a message from IC before posting.

Overcast 05-10-2014 05:35 PM

Aww, but Aidas's thuggishness is best contrasted by Zellish manners, Imarian crassness, or Nanakoan hopefullness.

I've replied to this said message so now Raiden doesn't have an excuse.

PyrosNine 05-11-2014 03:57 AM

Pyros will appear when the time is right for Team Manners trips over him. Pyros has never been in Team Light from the beginning, and he's not gonna start now! Except for that one sequel with the time loop, and that doesn't count.

I imagine team thug does not have chairs simply because you can't kneel before TalkatZod in a chair. Otherwise it'd be awkward.

PhoenixFlame 05-11-2014 04:37 AM

Our lord and saviour must prove who he is, after all. His appearances do not impress much.

Astral Harmony 05-11-2014 06:39 AM

It's simply dreadful, isn't it? There's some terrible people out there.

Red Mage Black 05-11-2014 12:32 PM

Everyone will get an annoying honorific. Everyone.

lazy man 05-11-2014 12:48 PM

So there's at least one thing not scared or intimidated by Mr. Grumpy Demon Lord. I think it still needs to learn the concepts of "personal space" though.

Also, I expect awkward staring contests to be its main fighting style from now on. It only seems appropriate.

No, that fighting style only belongs to high school girls. Anime hath dictated it so.

One does not simply try to intimidate a conglomeration of angry, vengeful, desperate souls. It's like calling out Twitter or 4chan. It just doesn't work and it wastes everyone's time.

PhoenixFlame 05-13-2014 12:13 AM

Red Sun over Daisuke

You're supposed to answer questions when asked, Kurama. Not say other, random things.

Now, suffer for your mistakes!

On that note, Tumblr can replace Twitter as well. (And 9gag and Reddit... and so on and so forth.)

Overcast 05-13-2014 01:16 PM

Aidas finds this course of action agreeable.

---------- Post added at 11:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:08 AM ----------

It's easy to be polite when you never open your smart mouth Zel.

Steel Shadow 05-13-2014 01:22 PM

Silence is golden, Aidas.

But while I would not expect a member of Team Thug to understand every subtlety of diplomacy, surely you can see the logic of respecting the voice and will of Talkatz as much as one would respect the crippling eyes of death?

Overcast 05-13-2014 10:12 PM

In your position he'd still be unsure what he is really getting out of this and would already be plotting some way to sabotage the rebirth so he'd have leverage over death itself.

But sure, for caution's sake he'd only be somewhat unsettling. Which is the best anyone can ask for.

Sithdarth 05-13-2014 10:43 PM

Blind monk dislikes violence.

Also, I assumed given that Izuna probably wasn't expecting it that Akira could interject himself and block the blow. I'm also not sure about the exact placement of everyone so I stayed generic.

PhoenixFlame 05-13-2014 11:52 PM

It's perfectly reasonable. I'm just surprised he managed to determine where to block, seeing as it was deliberately meant to threaten two entirely separate zones. (Thrust to XII -> Strike at II)

Sithdarth 05-14-2014 12:31 AM

I've kind of envisioned Akira's second sight operating as a kind of really crappy byakugan that has limited range and can only see ki/spirit energy. I also assumed that ki in this setting works something like it's described to work in many eastern martial arts. Meaning that even if you're not specifically channeling energy your movements do cause changes in the ki flow in your body.

Also, I was kind of thinking the timing was that he got there just as the naginata changed direction as he is human and you did have a head start. Basically he got there slightly after where you left off with the turn and just barely in time.

Steel Shadow 05-14-2014 01:04 AM

To be fair even I'm not sure what Zel's getting out of this. Maybe... major magical power and a good library? You know her and books.

As for planning for the sudden yet inevitable betrayal, two possible plans in the works, probably many more as the journey begins. It can be her hobby to pass the time.

Overcast 05-14-2014 04:07 AM

Quickly Arhra, support Zel as the leader then take position as her Vizer.

PhoenixFlame 05-14-2014 04:15 AM

Yeah, that makes sense.

Zel's clearly getting the chance to blow stuff up, which is more than she ever got during Anima.

Steel Shadow 05-14-2014 04:27 AM

Sounds like a good setup!

Zel was being responsible in Anima. Here she doesn't have to do that!

... Yeah, the horrendous trail of destruction was us being responsible. It's horrifying.

Anima's a game where when you specialize "Destruction Magic", you friggin' get destruction. I mean, god, what were you expecting, Steel?

You could've been anything, but no, you chose to be the end of flesh.

Steel Shadow 05-14-2014 05:36 AM

Hey hey, destruction magic only came in at the end. We spent 20 games in a place I could barely even use the stuff.

It just has a high score 'cus it was really effective at the end.

Overcast 05-15-2014 02:02 AM

Hey come on Nanako, even Bruce Lee could tell you in combat you have to fully dedicate. Body, mind, and lungs, why else would he make such powerful noises when every he smacked someone?

Red Mage Black 05-15-2014 03:00 AM

Note: Half-Cat form doesn't work for cat form tricks.

And Aidas is a dirty cheater.

Inbred Chocobo 05-15-2014 08:35 AM

As the new commander of Team Evil (By right of I said so) I now declare the team is now "Team Awesome and better than Team diapers in every way shape or form."

Arhra 05-15-2014 09:55 AM

Actually, given that the forces of evil are participating in a democratic process to elect a leader while the forces of good have resorted to brawling to prove who is really boss, I suspect we may have Team DEMOCRACY and Team ANARCHY.

God help us all.

Overcast 05-15-2014 10:39 AM

We already know who our leader is supposed to be. We are simply conducting a quality assurance test.

That's Team Democracy's job. To expand on this, when we find you and when we kill test you, then you will have your assurance that you were or were not qualified for Team Anarchy. And to top it all off, Kurama wouldn't even have to pay for us as QA experts.

Steel Shadow 05-16-2014 01:28 AM

Honestly, did any of you people vote for Kurama? Seems to me he's in power mainly because of family ties and the weapons he has - weapons of mass devastation against the free demon people! A dictatorship!

As the proponents of the right and just way of living, we're gonna have to help you embrace democracy. For your own good. You'll thank us!

Krylo 05-16-2014 01:30 AM

So Team Evil is America?

. . . Sounds about right.

Usually by now the Team Light/Team Dark PvP fighting would have started, which means the PMs of people complaining about the PvP would have started. That hasn't happened yet. So...I'm chalking this up as a win so far.

Overcast 05-16-2014 05:05 AM

Behold! Cackling Ball technique!

Steel Shadow 05-16-2014 06:38 AM

Well while we wait, how about I try out this Bookworm ability of mine! Raiden, what fun facts would a wandering scholar have learned about these fascinating sounding locations?

... Also if Aidas is using the Dragon slaying technique, people should probably take cover.

Raiden 05-16-2014 11:39 PM

Figure that's enough for the duel, since the rest of that side has been sitting around twiddling thumbs.

Steel: I'll PM you details so the facts can come from a PC and not just me reading from my notes.

Overcast 05-17-2014 04:42 AM

Aidas is now ready to make his attempt. No more flowery movements, just raw and unbridled POWER! Which is how he does things really.

Krylo 05-17-2014 05:18 AM

I have no idea what that attack is actually doing.

Other than lightning.

Astral Harmony 05-17-2014 08:10 AM

I... think he's shooting lightning bolts from just about anywhere on his body and staff... which may or may not be in spherical form and have random sound effects.

Arhra 05-17-2014 08:47 AM

Actually on the subject of transportation, how is Team Anarchy getting around?

I don't mind wandering around on foot but things are going to be a bit problematic if one side's much faster or much slower than the other.

Steel Shadow 05-17-2014 08:56 AM

We're villains. Off screen teleportation. It's the only way to go.

Also: Aidas v Kurama?
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7ceERPc3pyw

Overcast 05-17-2014 09:02 AM

The ball was kinda a flashbang, everything else is pretty much just lightning, even the new ball is lightning.

Nanako: Asking the important questions

Raiden 05-20-2014 03:32 AM

Sorry for the silence over the weekend. Kept meaning to post but work was a special layer of stressful.

(Without too many details, the father of a client had decided months ago he couldn't handle raising an autistic child and moved to another town after divorcing client's mother. Said client is having daily breakdowns about his dad not loving him, which causes a lot of physical aggression.)

So yeah, kind of killed a lot of my creativity.

Team Dark? I'll leave it up to you guys how you want to transport yourselves around the country. If you can't decide/want me to make something up for you I can, I just figured you lot would prefer...I dunno. Something of your own make. Like a giant pumpkin. Or a bat. Something evil looking.

Overcast 05-20-2014 07:44 AM

I voted for a giant Demon Cat steed, but Arhra did not approve.

Perhaps if you give us permission for it to be Kaiju size?

I was gonna have Shizuka utilize good ol' fashioned ninja speed which would be super fast but not ridiculously so, allowing her to cover about, oh I dunno, 100 miles a day as long as she has no distractions other than eating, sleeping, or visiting the little demoness's room. Perfect for when Team Light needs filler episodes for recovery.

Also it's a little tricky to change back.
