The Christmas Stash of 2015

So As of today I now have a PS4. Was not expecting that to happen so soon and completely out of the blue.

And Unchartered collection.

Probably got more stuff from the rest of the family. Won't really know to later tonight.

So how about you guy's/gal's? What surprises did you receive this year?

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 12-25-2015 09:58 AM

Nothing really special on my end, though I wasn't expecting anything really. To be honest it's really just another day for us.

Yeah, and yes I plan on downloading that very soon.

Season 1 of Sherlock, a TF2 Gargoyles & Gravel t-shirt, lots of cozy socks, a bunch of Tom Baker Doctor Who audio dramas, a scarf and some jewelry, and lots of candy. And my boss bought every employee a mini kindle fire this year!

shiney 12-25-2015 01:54 PM

Merry Christmas~

Merry Christmas!

I got a nice scarf, hat, and gloves. It is seventy degrees. I wore the scarf anyway.

Kyanbu's new PS4 reminds me of how my poor nephew spent four hours today updating his Xbone to play Starwars Battlefront. As of thirty seconds ago, he's still not gotten past the title screen because the game would rather play the same C3PO and R2 skit over and over. Future. Good times were still had with phone games.

Ok, some gifts were opened here. Got myself a space calendar, a T-shirt, a couple of books, and some racing memorabilia.

And last night, won some art in a charity event.

I got some very nice desktop speakers (KantoYu2), in a pretty shade of blue, and a soft leopard print housecoat with matching slippers. Best gifts ever.

For Funka I got him a very nice bottle of single malt scotch whiskey with some scotch glasses and a couple Ernest Hemingway books. Because MANLINESS.

Merry belated christmas and/or happy holidays. I hope they were bootylicious!

Here is my stash!https://40.media.tumblr.com/0ec6c02f...54to1_1280.jpg

The Kotori blanket and candle were from my fiancee's sister, the tea set from her cousin and aunt.

Her cousin also got me this really nicely made Madoka playing card deck which was a real surprise since we don't interact a whole lot (not connected on social media) so she really scored a bullseye with it (I love playing card decks and loved the show).

The parents-in-law bought me a kindle fire which is super fancy but I don't really know what they do! Her sister bought the macaroni cheese book for us both as it's all I can cook and it's all she eats. Underneath is a photobook of our engagement photos from her parents to both of us, but I won't be sharing those.

And finally, my finacee bought me the Legends Of Localisation book I've been wanting since its inception (having followed author Mato for a few years now), the ET shirt celebrating his recent desert liberation, and a sylveon plushie!

Really chuffed with my haul this year!

That there pitcher ain't the best impression you could'a given of that bird blanket. I'm still jealous that you can be as open with your folks about the japanese cartoons.

Did you click the first link? Short of setting her up in a photography studio, that's about as good as my tiny phone will manage. Open sure, but I'll never forget the look of baffled restraint on mum's face when I told her how happy I was for managing to buy the maid kotori petit nendo for ~only~ £25.

I got various clothes, including the usual ugly sweatshirt that is excessively oversized for me from my American aunt and actual necessary clothes from my brother, but this is the same as every year. Some new shoes, as the ones I wore for work are now just worn out. I also got Fallout 4, which reminds me that I've had New Vegas on the backlog for about 4 years? 5 years? Perhaps I should play F4 first. Whereas most of my family got each other a lot of chocolates this year, I got none. Presumably they've finally given up on trying to fatten me. 9 stone/57kg forever and ever, despite various attempts to bulk up this year through exercise, working out, and whatnot. Nope. My body is having none of that. Always skinny.

I also got a lot of comments about when am I going to get a girlfriend (answer: never), so as usual with each Christmas I'm kinda grumpy. Grumpier than usual, I mean.

Bard The 5th LW 12-27-2015 01:55 AM

A pair of Beats Headphones

A nice spinning office chair

Three Books: Welcome to Nightvale, Kwaidan, and a collection Jorge Luis Borges stories.

Otherwise I mostly got some desk ornaments and clothes.

Gregness 12-27-2015 02:42 AM

I got Betrayal at House on the Hill, Manacle and Coin (a first edition Exalted setting book that was highly recommended), some candy, and a couple packs of Magic cards that actually had some stuff I'll end up using (among them, a foil Shivan Reef).

phil_ 12-27-2015 01:32 PM

All this jealousy isn't healthy.

I did click the first link to confirm that the doopy eyes were an artifact of the picture in your post. If they were actually printed that way then I wouldn't have commented because that's just hating.

Is there a difference in sizes on different sides of the pond, or does your aunt just have it in for you?

Lucky dog. Have fun with that while I stew in my jealousy.

Flarecobra 12-27-2015 02:53 PM

I got a late Christmas gift: An 8 pack of different hot sauces.

Personal experience is generally that an American L is much wider than an English L, but usually not longer. This year's sweatshirt was extremely wide and down to my knees, however. She sees me once a year, compares with the rest of the family, thinks "My, Simon is so tall! I must remember to get him large tops!", and so she does.

5ft 11 is not tall. But I am taller than the rest of my family. Oh, and before you go putting my height and weight together I can say already that according to BMI I am quite underweight. But I've been like this for all 27 years of my life, and the last nurse to check my BMI said that for me it's normal.

And as for it being ugly? I'm not sure that's deliberate spite, I think that's just the taste of old ladies in their late 70s.

She's just ahead of the curve. Ridiculously baggy clothing's gonna make a come-back someday.

Bum Bill Bee 12-28-2015 12:57 AM

My Christmas wasn't terribly special or surprising. I mostly got candy, and movies. I did buy myself Diablo 2 and Stonghold Crusader, both of which Im loving.

But the nicest thing was buying a pretty good tree for just $10 a week before Christmas.
