Just...wow. 99 lives. Not hit once. Four powerups - Whistle 1, whistle 2, leaf, star. Didn't die once. Eleven minutes.

I'm not sure if he's just good or if he has way to much god damn time on his hands.

This was posted here a long time ago. The creator also admitted that he cheated creating this movie.

Yeah, the thread is Why these gamers are better than you II, sequel to And this is why Japanese gamers are better than you. Check it out. I posted (reposted from previous thread) links to other speed run videos.

When did he admit to it? On his website. http://soramimi.egoism.jp Translation (Warning: Very broken english, hard to understand sometimes).

Bastard. When I looked at it, it didn't seem all that impossible, because I'd beaten the game in a few hours before going all the way through it non-stop... so I picked up my game, with my refreshed knowledge of warp whistles and tried to get near his time. Got down to around a half hour before I got bored with it. But I spent a whole day or two practicing! Damn him!

How can you cheat on something like that? Sure the timer could have slowed down, that's as much as I could make out from the translation, but....eh?

He used a bunch of save states, and then everytime he screwed up, went back to the save state, and recorded over his fuck up. That's how. He didn't actually play that good, he just retried a lot until he got it right on every stage.

Summary: Any one can do what this guy did if the have... 2 years of free time on their hands. He's no expert gamer at all.

Why 2 years? It was played on an emulator at 1/30th speed and recorded frame-by-frame over 2 years to produce the video.
