Although one would argue that since you're PKing, you pretty much deserve whatever's coming to you, being that there's an "opt-in" system to PK. You might also be able to petition a GM for help...

Also: Item descriptions like this would be fun...

Quote:

The Ear of (CHARNAME)

Weight: 0 lbs

Description: This is the ear of (CHARNAME), whom you have pwned in the most humiliating way possible. The tale of your glorious victory shall be sung from the halls of dwarven splendor to the shores of the elven sea, and your foe (CHARNAME) shall ever live with the ignominy of knowing that you did hand his ass to him, for great justice. Go you!

Agreed. If there's an Opt-in system for PK, sure, a limited loot would be nice for some, but if they don't have looting restrictions, and you find yourself picked clean, you deserve it. Nobody's forcing you to go where the not-so-nice boys are playing.

After much consideration, I'll probably make one of each class, like I do for any game I get into... but I'll probably be most fond of a rogue-type, due to my light-fingered RP tendencies....

I'd ask to go for a ninja, but that would probably be stretching my hopes a bit far.

Dante 05-08-2005 11:58 PM

Well, you may not actually be a ninja class, but you should still be able to play a ninja. Just go dual dagger / TWF route, and strike them down with great vengeance and furious anger.

Oh, and use UMD to imitate mage casting, and dye your hair silver, and wear a patch over a scarred eye with a reddish-brown contact lens... :p

How easily you read my mind...

Moment this game reaches both of us, let's start workin out our strategies. I can already taste the spoils of battle now....

Oh yeah, and we gotta make sure we do it well. If we can get it going smoothly, I'm sure I could convince my little sister to join, once she's back from Japan. She'll make a nice addition. She's probably got equal to my skill, but people underestimate her because she's a girl. No idea why. They have more potential to be meaner than we ever could, neh?

I'm not really anti-PK. But I'm more anti-PK in MMOs than anywhere else. Mainly due to the people that'll play for 18 hours every day just to make these monster characters.

I just know this, if I've spent three months getting all kinds of epic equipment, and I stand to lose it in ten seconds to another guy who mastered a cheap trick, I would be much less motivated to participate in PK. I won't really argue which systems of PK are best, though, since the developers are the ones making the systems, and they probably won't change their minds because of this thread.

Have they told us what campaign setting D&D Online is in? I actually haven't been in any campaign settings in my PnP time, because we always do custom stuff (I prefer to build my worlds and watch my ants crawl around in them).

They BETTER have more than gold pieces is right. They better have your copper, silver, gold, and platinum pieces, or the director is going to find a horse head in his bed.

I usually play something to help the 'team' I would play with. Rogues and clerics tend to come in handy.

Hatake Kakashi 05-09-2005 12:25 PM

I'd expect something either out of Forgotten Realms, due to it's vast popularity among DnD settings, or from Greyhawk, because it's the most basic (and original) DnD world.

Personally, I'd have loved to see something out of pre-5th age Krynn. Dragonlance, for those less familiar with the setting.

After 4th age though, the campaign went straight to shit.

Sayaka 05-09-2005 05:10 PM

Yeah, actually, I would join. Sounds like fun.

And for those who missed me, sorry. I've been a little busy. On a side note, Japan ROCKS! I'll be here only for a couple more months though. :(

If they make it true to D and D, then i can kill any normal caricture easy. Dark cleric, drow, female, assasine. man there is nothing better. warriors can not handle the power

i am against pvp looting, it is a cheap tactic. and the pvp people always get mad when they kill some poor guy, are weak, then another person comes behind them and kills them, or runs away from them.

If they do this well it will be good, if they dont do it well it will not be good, i am leaning towards the latter
