The Little Prince

Just finished reading it for school and was surprised how good it was. Has anyone else read this book?

*raises hand*

Went over it in French and English, I did. Now I'm working on a project involving quotes from the story. In French. It's annoying.

If there's one way to destroy a good book force people to do endless assignments on it.

Which one? I think there are at least half a dozen, including a musical and a claymation version which my French teacher claimed was the scariest movie she'd ever watched.

I don't know the name of it! I can't find it either. It wasn't a musical though. And was not claymation!

My younger brother read this book in his high school French class a few years back and he loved it so much that he got the little prince tattooed on his chest.

He has also been after me to read this book for awhile now and usually I'll give anything a chance but for some reason I keep resisting him on this. It just doesn't seem like something I'll find interesting, maybe one of you can convince me as to why I should.

Also I know what you mean about assignments killing books but the way I got around that was to finish the books they gave me to read superfast and then just read my own while the rest of the class caught up.

I had to read that book this year in my first semester of college. I loved that book. I didn't even consider it an assignment. It was so enjoyable and easy to read that I didn't care if I was having a quiz on it the next day.

We also had to do some essays on it's deeper meanings, which, even though I had a complete understanding of it, I pretty much had to BS the whole thing. What was everyone's favorite part?

My favorite part is the scene with the Fox.

I liked the bit with the drunk.

"What are you doing?"
"Drinking."
"Why?"
"So I can forget."
"Forget what?"
"Forget that I am ashamed."
"Ashamed of what?"
"Ashamed that I drink too much." :p
