Okay, here's what I need
The time is near. My website is almost complete and my book is almost underway. My site will not only be a place where I get to overhype my book and show off my roommate and I's webcomic, it will mostly be dedicated to the readers. It will be a place for people to submit short stories, episodic stories, poetry, and mostly any type of fiction you want. But, it must be fiction. It's all about imagination, so no personal accounts.
This is where you come in. To launch the site, I need stories. They can be any length and be about anything. I will be premiering two or three stories a week (or somewhere around there), do a little mini-review of it, and post them in a special section of the site. Each writer will have their own archive of collected works. You can send them to me at robert.pergola@blc.edu. I prefer them to be sent as an attachment in either MS Word or Write format. I will email everyone a few days before I premier their stories. Also, this webcomic my roommate and I are collaborating on can only be described as "different". We will be trying to get two or more episodes up a week while accepting guest comics intermediately. I am planning for our messageboard to be hosted on proboards.com until I can get the funds up to pay the $160 for vBulletin (PayPal donations anyone?). It will almost mirror the Nuklear Power forum, only one section will be dedicated to discussing the latest stories. I hope the launch will be a success. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. Eventually, I will get you the site address when I've purchased it and uploaded the files to it on fuitadnet. Thanks for the interest. Oh, and please stop sending me emails asking to be a mod. I have enough for the time being. If I ever require more, I'll let you know. [Edit] Also, if you are good at drawing anime or chibi, let me know. I may have a little task for you. Be warned, it will take skill. |
so, just like any fiction stories that we've written? well fuck, ive got a couple of those laying around. expect an email by me soon.

Why not just do what Brian did and mention your book on your website at EVERY possible time you can POSSIBLY mention it? seems to have worked for him didn't it? Just about most of us bought the book didn't we?
Thanx Brian for making us spend money on your really crappy book disguised as a really good book *cough*sarcasm*cough* |

Seriously, though, I can save files as .doc, but I'm not sure how well they'll work (being as that I'm using Linux and sometimes .docs from other people won't open on certain versions of word or my linux machine). I have a couple of stories I wrote as indepth backgrounds to some characters. Also, proboards sucks so bad. I'd skip even having a forum until you can afford vbulletin (and a server to run it on). |
I'm in, Bob.
But you knew that. I'll be sending you some works of mine soon. But you knew that. I'm watching you right now. Bet you didn't know that. |
I would recommend against accepting guest comics until you are actually established. Guest comics can undermine your entire project unless you have been around for a while. Far as the hype machine goes, just get people to come to your site I guess. Brian can certainly link you now and again, or I can link you once, but we won't be constantly doing so as you would then only be riding on the coattails of his success. Better to forge your own path, more satisfying, in my opinion.

And Krylo, you can always send the text straight through email if you're having problems otherwise. |
Ok Bob. I'll help you out. I have a couple less-than-crap stories for your site.

This website program is being a pain in the ass. It won't let me change the text inside premade buttons. Could someone please change the text in this button to make a few more buttons that say Stories, Links, Forum, Projects, Downloads, Members, Join, and Submit? It would help me out a lot.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ary/p-home.jpg Thanks. [Edit] Also, I'm trying to put a comment submitter on the bottom of each person's story, to work as a forum until I can afford one. The submit button right now is linked to my email, but I would like the comments to be directly posted under the story. How do I do that? |
You need a cgi-bin and cgi scripting to do that, Bob.
