Its very good, even if the main "story" concerning Julia and The Syndicate is haphazard and makes no sense. Hell, most of the episodes are pretty ridiculous if you think about it...... they're starving while ironically possessing a data dog that is worth zillions? A super-genius girl just HAPPENS to be working with them. Thats good stuff.

I've said this in another thread: Bebop, Trigun, and Outlaw Star are my holy trinity of animes.

Cool, I gotta see the Final Fantasy anime but Trugun rocks too

Cowboy Bebop is probably my favorite anime series. But I was disappointed with the movie. I was hoping for some kind of a prelude to the actual series with more about Vicious, the syndicate, and Spike's involvement with them. But when I think about it...that would take a way a lot of the show's mystery...so it's best they didn't have a movie at all.

Besides all that, I'd have to say my favorite character is Vicious, because I have a thing for villians, and with that in mind, my favorite episode is Ballad of Fallen Angels...Spike falling out the window to that boys choir melody was just so cool.

Spoilers through out. A bit of spoilerish stuff anyway.

It makes sense if you take the time to piece everything together. Vicious and Spike worked together... and Spike was Vicious's superior (at least in skill) and was able to take him down/keep him in check. Other than each other, however, the two were peerless. However, Spike decided to leave the syndicate and wanted to escape with his love, Julia. Vicious didn't like the idea of his only equal turning yellow and fleeing and therefore threatened Julia into setting up an ambush for Spike, which she did. Spike, therefore, wasn't able to take her with, but was able to escape. See... it all makes sense.

All of this stuff is also only pointless if you don't look into the story behind them all. The only thing really out there is that Ed had a fascination with Bebop... but then Ed is weird as hell, so her having a fascination with a random bounty hunting squad isn't that weird for her. Especially when they are hunting her. As for Ein... well, they don't know that he's a data dog. They think he's just some mutt that guy had that's only worth 5 bucks.

The thing I love about the story is that each character's individual back story is filled in completely through out the episodes, so that they become far more than just the characters that are in the running story line. We see Jet as a cop chasing down members of the syndicate, and that he left the force after his partner sold him out and got him hurt. We see Faye as a the little girl on earth who made that movie to herself, "But don't ever lose me, because I'm you." Granted the way the movie got to her was rather odd... but we also see how she became so jaded after waking up, and why she's on the run. Etc. etc.

Although if you just step into one episode and look at the crew it seems pretty ridiculous, but there are far more ridiculous things in other movies/series. Pretty much any series with a group of people, and most of them don't delve into their characters pasts and flesh them out so much that it becomes completely believable.

Edit: Also, Video Drone, that's my favorite episode too. I love when Spike falls through the window... and when he fights Vicious just before that... and when he pegs that guy holding Faye between the eyes.

The last few episodes were sad, and then gulp

He well... you know ( immates slit throat)

'Ballad of Fallen Angels' is the episode that got me hooked on Cowboy Bebop. It's probably still my favorite episode.

The whole scene in the church is really cool, especially as Spike's walking in as the song "Rain" is playing. That song is cool.

Grr...
Hey, people are free to say what they want, but outlaw star was my first anime, and, as many otaku know(Not that I am one) Those always hold a special place in many's hearts.
