reoccuring orphan?

is the child that sees bm's face early in the story, the child that is orphaned do to thief and BM making body doubles to escape the night-ninjas assassination when thrwarting that elf dude, the one thats foster family is killed, and the child stuck in an orphanage awaiting a never-to-arrive boatload of a cargo of food and medicine. are they all one and the same? if so, that is a cool subtle/obvious subplot.

It's all the same kid. And I'm not done torturing him yet!

netrider6 06-13-2005 01:23 AM

What more could you POSSIBLY do to that child?[/foolish question]

Barachem 06-13-2005 04:21 AM

You don't want to know...
Or yes, you do!

Well, that child always reminisces his recent trageties aloud, and they happen to coincide with what Black Mage did to him. It's certainly no coincidence.

As Isaac Newton states: For every force, there is an equal and opposite force.

Clarifying my implications, for every evil deed Black Mage wills upon this little kid, the kid will send an equally terrible deed right back at him. Of course, the kid needs time to gain the strength to do so. I wonder what the kid's gonna do...

The child will wander into Sarda's cave, make an unholy allegiance with him, and then through transmutations and arcane magic gone terribly wrong (read: Sarda's boredom), will become Chaos.

Er... uh... I think you misunderstood Mr. Newton. By force, he meant pressure multiplied by the surface area it's against, not... uh... actions underlying a scalar quantity of good and evil. Besides, what you're thinking of is revenge, and not everyone in the world is weak enough to succumb to their vengeful urges.

Unlike BM. But he's far too weak to exact revenge on Fighter for existing.

Although Newton was talking specifically about physics, I can also see his laws in a spiritual perceptive, where a person's actions get reflected back at him. Granted that deeds don't get reflected back to the doer entirely are exactly the same, just as light reflecting off of an iron pot isn't exactly the same, the deed will return to some degree.
Anyway I think the kid will end up being the sacrificed virgin to the god Chaos, thus giving the god the chanced power to enter the 8-bit world in time for the final showdown with the LW's. (maybe not the final showdown, and the LW's can always try to kill of the DW's, and/or Sarda, and/or King Steve, and/or Matoya, and/or more dwarves, more elves, more innocent bystanders just for the hell of it)
