FF RP Ch. 1: Riplets

The story starts at the border, where each force's respective army had gathered. Through som unspoken agreement between the two it was to be here, in the Monster's Savannah, that the first battle would commence.
For four days and three nights both sides waited anxiously for some reason to attack, and on the fourth night it came. In the camp of N'Revat several fires were unleashed, burning many tents and arms to ashes. Seeing this as the work of Rab, they prepared for the offensive.
A scout saw the fire in the camp and relayed his observations to General Clique, leader of the Rab army. Without a moment's hesitation he ordered everyone awake and commanded them to get ready. He knew of th offensive that was to come as this was surely to be blamed on them.
It was almost dawn when the N'Revat struck.

Ripel stood upon the front lines as the N'Revat charged. Truth be told, N'Revat had brought quite a few more troops than his nation had, as well as the dreaded Magitek armor. His side had some too, but not nearly as much.
The armors were in front of the pack, acting as shields and cannons for the N'Revat, and while one or two were knocked down there were still many more to pick up it's slack.
"Choco Meteor!" Ripel ordered, and Boco nodded before unleashing his magic on his foes.
Ripel himself wasn't paying attention to his friend's actions, he too was focusing on a spell. Eyes closed in concentration, he raised a palm in the direction of the assaulters and whispered, "Chocoball." An orb manifested in his palm, hovering for a second before launched itself at his opponents. Not seeing if he hit, he repeated the process again, not opening his eyes at all. He didn't want to kill, he didn't want to see people killing, even if it were necessary. Though, in the back of his mind, he questioned wether or not it all was.
Despite his and Boco's choco attacks, he could tell that they were being quickly pushed back. When he opened his eyes for the first time he found a Magitek armor almost upon him, and were it not for an incarnation of Ifrit created by his general tackling it away, that would have been the last image he would've seen.
Shaken, he thanked his commanded. "No thanks, just stay alive boy," Clique replied with a smile.
Quickly hardening, Clique ordered everyone to get in close. "That Magitek armor can't use it's beams unless they want to hit themselves!"
Nodding, Ripel raised his halberd and mounted Boco. "I hope I make it out of here alive," he said, before returning back into the fray.

Ciaran stood on a hill relaying orders to his troops. "Strengthen the right flank," or "Send more engineers to help repair the damaged Magitek." He was bored. His troops outnumbered the opposition and were equipped better. They had more magitek and better weapons. This was not a job for a noble general, and Ciaran was not ignorant to that fact.

'Why did they send me out here?' he silently thought to himself. His answer was quick in coming however. He had already known it, 'They're just hoping a stray bullet, arrow, spell, or what have you will kill me. So much easier than trying to mount a case.' A smirk spread across his face at this thought as he ordered another wave of magitek armor to attack. 'The old fools are such cowards... they won't accuse me themselves for fear of showing their own corruption. And so long as they have that fear, I am safe.' His smirk spread into a full smile as he called for a servant to bring him a drink. 'Yes... things should work out perfectly.'

Dezil grinned as his Magitek armor charged into a group of Rab soldiers, cutting them down effortlessly. He had designed this new model himself, and along with five other prototypes, he was manning one to test in battle. Two massive blades came out of the arms so it could easily wade into battle and kill anything in arms reach, and it always had it's metal hands for punching, and lasers and Tek Missles for distance targets. As he and his Magitek squad tore a hole in the Reb front, a force of Horsemen cam to intercept. He armed his Tek missles, and signaled for the others did the same, then launched them at the charging horsemen. Many were blown apart instantly, and those that survived had to deal with their panicked horses that ran in fear of mechanical monstrosities they weren't bread to battle. Nothing could put fear into a heavily armored Magitek Soldier except for other Magitek Armor, and the Reb force didn't have the numbers to put a serious threat to the Magitek Armor he had designed. Dezil hadn't even tested out his new system yet he noted to himself. He was saving it for a good opportunity, since they wouldn't get many uses out of it that would suprise the enemy. He ordered his squad to follow, and continued to destroy any Reb soldiers that came in reach of his death dealing Magitek Armor.

The armors charged, fist flailing, beams firing, but their mighty attacks were stopped cold as they hit the forcefield around the wizard.

"You pitiful worms. You should not have come here."

Saying so, Dante stamped once, hard, on the packed ground, and concentric shockwaves radiated from the point of impact. The earth heaved, fissures opening up, swallowing the Magitek armors around him like hungry maws. Though most escaped, the demonstration had served its purpose - the other battlesuits fled the scene of destruction.

A fan of lightning blossomed his way, but Dante nimbly evaded it, not so much dodging as flying aside. He recognized the trademark blue robes and yellow hat of the Black Mage Guild of N'Revat, and he grinned. This one was only an apprentice - hardly a challenge.

The lightning spell flashed his way again, but Dante was not in its path. Instead, he had vaulted the ten meters between them, assisted by his flight spell, and landed behind the apprentice. Two ahnds clamped themselves on his head, and a cold, emotionless voice spoke.

"Cry..."

Scared out of his wits, the apprentice did, blubbering to be let go.

"...Scream..."

He punctuated the remark with a release of static from the building charge in his hands, eliciting the desired response.

"...and die!"

The simple shock spell, delivered at such close range into the head, was invariably fatal.

Dante let the charred corpse go. Though this was only a student, this implied the amster would be nearby.

I had best be on my guard, he thought as he floated serenely down the battlefield.

Ciaran watched the battle with the same confident smile as he sipped at a drink of unknown origin, seeming vastly amused by the mage breaking his magitek's ranks. "How interesting, they seem to have some fight in them... perhaps I won't be so bored after all." He then turned to a messenger beside him and issued an order. "Order the magitek to withdraw from that one, and send in our mages and pikemen. I want him outnumbered as soon as possible. Have the magitek keep the other soldiers from assisting him."

The messenger looked at him and slowly arched an eyebrow, speaking carefully, "S... sir, if he destroyed the magitek..." but he was cut off quickly by the general.

"Yes, many of the pikemen will be killed, but they're less valuable than the magitek."

The messenger looked a bit aghast at this and stood still for a moment but was quick to run off when Ciaran arched an eyebrow at his dalliance.

The general settled in once again, watching the battle with a smirk and sipping lightly at his drink. "Let's see how well you do, mage..."

High above the battlefield, a black Chocobo was hovering above, just out of any archer‘s range. Mounted on him was Deamon, watching the battle below him. "And it begins... Took way to long I think, don't you agree Black?" The black Chocobo chirped in agreement. Deamon put his arm out to the Black’s head where it began to rub against his arm. “Well, shall we join in on the fun?” Black again chirped in agreement. Deamon looked down at the battle, thinking of where he should attack.

Hm… I could attack from behind and get rid of the mages. Or I could drop in at the middle and act like a grunt solder… Hm… That one mage seems to be doing good by himself, maybe I should ruin his fun… Deamon sighed as he threw his head back. “Ugh… Decisions, decisions.”

Arc was crouched behind a hill, desperately trying NOT to be found. Just my frickin' luck. Escape on my birthday, get back to good condition, try to get to the next town, END UP IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLE! He peeked out again. His hand closed on his combat dagger as he saw a soldier running in his general direction. Then a stray shot caught him in the back, and slammed him down almost right in front of Arc.

He let go of his combat dagger, and pulled the short-sword from the dead man's sheath. It was longer than his daggers, but it would be more use.

He kept low as he ran to the next hill, and peeked out. More fighting. He looked up at the sky. Whoever's manning the bank where I keep my luck, if I don't got a debt, feel free to give me one now!

Deamon then noticed some cowardly solder running from hill to hill, avoiding combat. Hm... He's not wearing the uniform of my side, whatever their name is again... Let's kill him! Deamon pointed down to the man hiding behind hills. "Hey Black, see that guy?" The Chocobo nodded. "We're gunna kill him, ok?" With another chirp, Black started to dive down towards the hiding man.

Syn strolled around in the midst of the battle, his robe slightly rustling in the breeze. It didn't matter, no one could see him anyway. He had created a mental shield around himself. To those around him, he wasn't even there.

He decided that the mages would be the best to get rid of first. He calmly floated to the back of the flanks of Rab. He then saw the wizards, some firing, some healing the wounded, and others gathering energy for spells. There were tents all around, probably set up by magic, that were filled with items such as potions and weapons. Obviously, this was a place where a soldier who was hurt or lost a weapon could go back to, and prepare for battle again. Upon realizing this, he decided he would have a little fun first.

He spotted a short mage dressed in blue robes, gathering a large fireball. He went deep into the mage's mind. He saw all the memories and past experiences of his foe, loved ones dying, and memories of a child without a father. He wasted no time in ripping them to shreds, almost like tearing a piece of paper in half. He then began rebuilding them to his liking. He told the mage that he was a slave, and was to do as he was told. The mage did not have the willpower to resist. He turned towards a tent which was full of wounded soldiers, and unleashed the fireball. Syn laughed with glee as the tent, and those around it, were set ablaze.

Arc looked over the hill, and mused out loud "Maybe I should just ditch this entire idea of trying to get home, and just go back..."
Then he heard a crunching behind him and spun. He lost his grip on his short-sword and fell down.

The rider stopped, and had his weapon raised. Arc stuck his hands out and said, "WAIT! I'mnotasoldierjustathiefthatjustescapedfromthemine s *INHALE* I'vebeentryingtogettonexttownbutIstumbledintothisb attle *INHALE* AndIreallydon'twannagetinvolvedinthiswarsopleasedo n'tkillmeeeeee!"
