Mage let out his breath, "Two beers please, Barkeep." After taking the two, he walked over to his new found friend and dropped a beer in front of him. "Anyway... I guess you can call me Mage. That's what everyone calls me anyway." He extended a hand. "How about you? What brings you to this dismal place?"
"Nothing really." The man said, sipping at his beer. "I'm Dario, a wanderer. I'm searching for the meaning of life, and I believe that only through experience will I be able to learn what it's all about. Plus, I haven't had company in a while, so I decided to check this place out."
ooc: Will be gone the next two days.
The Elf in the corner continued to lounge in the corner, taking in the conversations around him. Apparently, there was a bit of a lull, and with a graceful movement that seemed contrary to his clownish behavior, he beckoned the serving girl back over to his table. This time, with hardly an effort or movement, gold pieces appeared on the table in front of the Elf. "Buy the gentlemen over there a drink on me," he said smoothly, without looking up. "If they ask, tell them it's from an unknown benefactor. I don't want to be disturbed for the next little while, okay?" |
Kal spun around on his chair. "So, what's your deal for being out here Mr. Ogre?"
Gar ordered a cocktail and turned to the elf.
"Well, like I said, I'm in between castles now. I'm a professional wallbreaker - i.e, I break those inconvenient walls that keep invading armies out. I'm also a point man for assault formations - nothing scares defenders like a rampaging armored ogre scything through his foes with a spiked chain three times longer than them." |
"I do a little mercenary work on the side, as well." The man said. "How do you find work?" He asked the Ogre. "Are you a mercenary, or do you just work for whomever's cause feels right to you?"
"Hoo boy."
Gar emptied his glass, broke it by accident, and cursed. "Dammit, not again! Barkeep, another cocktail, and in a tankard this time." He turned back to the guy who had addressed him. "Currently, I'm following a wizard called Arilyn. Half-elf, loves to take on assigments to sack castles. She's got this inferiority complex thing, which is probably why she likes to blast nobles and stuff. But believe me, hearing her rant can drive anyone to this." He raised his tankard and chugged it in one gulp. "Anyway, I got sick of looting castles, so I decided to take a sabbatical. I want to walk around without my armor for once and just... you know, relax." |
"Yeah, I understand." The man said, taking another sip of his drink. "Your employer seems like an unpleasant person to work with, to say the least."
"She's pretty nice before the sacking season, it's just that she gets all screechy and power-trippy after every castle."
OOC: Died fast, I must say. Oh well, I'm going to try to revive it in vain.
IC: "You want power-trippy? High sorceress. She yells at you for 15 minutes straight if you even brush a bit of dust into her study." |
