I guess I'll go with option 2, although having a stable 'hand at the tiller' (so to speak) is always a good thing.

And Jim's got some 733t skills, yo! (Though one could suppose his ability to survive the cold abyss that is space for more than a minute was kinda stretching it. )
Regardless, It's seems to be a unanimous vote for number 2. |

So who wants to be the first new GM?
|
I would, but as you may have guessed from my past two posts I might be a little too strict for you guys. Plus I may be starting a futuristic RP in the near future anyway, and I wouldn't want to do two.
I vote Krylo for temporary GM position, whether he wants to or not. As of right now I won't be the GM myself, but I'll happily work with the GM to develop plot elements. |
Well, I wouldn't really consider it godmoding, mainly because we are the heros, and are supposed to be more powerful than the people we fight. Also, it's difficult to have anything past a melee "struggle" in the future, because guns generally kill people.
Although a long and drawn out firefight works. I'd vote for Krylo too, and while I'd prefer #1, #2 works. Krylo is of course, busy lately, so someone else might be a better choice. |
That's where we disagree, unless you meant something other than what you said. Heroes aren't supposed to be stronger than anyone they fight. With the pirates, it wasn't a big deal really. I found it funny such incompetence landed themselves a big ship, but I foresee bad things dealing with marines that are heavily armed and supposedly trained. So far they are ending up the same as the pirates. Pity that.
Edit for clarification: When I said god-modding, it was more of a "for lack of a better word" context. Maybe a better word would be overpowered? I wasn't accusing anyone of breaking the rules, I just prefer drawn out combat versus "I score nine headshots in a row and obliterate a squad of elite guards then I throw three grenades with both arms and a leg and blow up five tanks." Ok...that was god-modding, I was just having fun about halfway in. :) |
Well, I see where you're coming from, but if we took realistic casualties, this would be real short RP, no? *Shrug* Storm troopers were *supposed* to be elite and highly trained, but never hit those little rebels named "Luke Skywalker" or "Han Solo" because, well, that would really put a damper in the whole Star Wars storyline.
Anyway, I'll be gone for a few days coming up, so Dante will be taking care of my character while I'm away. |
I'm not asking for realistic casualties either. There can be a healthy balance. Also, not every circumstance has to involve kicking down the door and blasting everyone in the room. Instead of "Headshot, headshot, headshot" whatever happened to "Miss, graze, miss, hit?" I don't know, gets a little monotonous.
Also, anyone who watches Family Guy knows stormtroopers are not elite or well-trained. That and, I had tried to emphasize a general fear of tactical marines, something that would have been earned due to tactical expertise. I grow tired of this discussion, it barely belongs here and, frankly, you're a good roleplayer. I may be venting off anger from other times with roleplayers that are most certainly not good. |
