Two things, Zephie: Who's Kerith... and Sarith has her entire body covered by that suit, including her face, so how could Raze'el see any look in her eyes?
|
Sarith is like Samus from Metroid. Actually, she seems to be Samus's dimensional alter ego. Well, Samus was mistaken for a man by gamers and her superiors, and it's explained that this is because her entire body is covered in heavy armor, with only her eyes and nose showing through, and her voice is muffled. Her eyes are plainly visible, and are the only things that can show how she's feeling.
I know all this becuase I'm playing Prime and I just pwned Omega Pirate on my first try. |
Ugh, for the first time in maybe never I mix characters from two RPs up.
And it's behind a visor. From what I gathered, it's somewhat clear unless we're talking about a Predator-style mask here. Edit: Yeah. What Pyros said. All he needs is the eyes. Now quitcherbitchin' and get to postin'. :p |
Ok... so I'm still confused, though. Is Kerith Killik or Sarith? Or some unholy amalgam of the two?
|
So we need to discuss something. I can't be the GM anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I like the setting and I have some great ideas for new/wacky chapters but I don't really feel like being in control (plus I have another RP idea thats consuming my brain). Me being in control is kind of a disservice to all who really want this to be good, as I just realized I created this world to become immersed in it and not to swirl around the contents with my finger (hence the open-ended structure). So I thought up a few alternatives, namely (1) We all agree on someone to be a GM from now on or (2) We do what IHMN did with Kingdom of Aire, i.e., give the GM-reins over to the person who wants to do that particular bit the most. I'd like the second option as it allows me to do a few of the chapters I wanted when I can more fully devote myself to it. Bottom line, I want this to continue, just not neccesarily with me at the helm. |
I vote the 2'ded. Cuz while I'm much more capable of posting frequently, I've never been good at leading anything. Like those poor souls on the Battlefield 2 CAD/8bt server. Those poor poor souls.
Watch out for PyrosNine(8-bit) ! |
I vote second as well, because now and then I'd like to GM a thing here and there, but I don't have the time or energy to devote myself properly.

And I vote for 2, just because. |

Assuming I survive chapter 2, I'd be outvoted no matter what I choose. Bandwagon it is! The RP's been moderate fun, but there's been a fair amount of action that falls under my definition of god-modding. And I loath that stuff no matter how good the premise is.
|
I guess I'll go with option 2, although having a stable 'hand at the tiller' (so to speak) is always a good thing.

And Jim's got some 733t skills, yo! (Though one could suppose his ability to survive the cold abyss that is space for more than a minute was kinda stretching it. )
Regardless, It's seems to be a unanimous vote for number 2. |

So who wants to be the first new GM?
|
I would, but as you may have guessed from my past two posts I might be a little too strict for you guys. Plus I may be starting a futuristic RP in the near future anyway, and I wouldn't want to do two.
I vote Krylo for temporary GM position, whether he wants to or not. As of right now I won't be the GM myself, but I'll happily work with the GM to develop plot elements. |
Well, I wouldn't really consider it godmoding, mainly because we are the heros, and are supposed to be more powerful than the people we fight. Also, it's difficult to have anything past a melee "struggle" in the future, because guns generally kill people.
Although a long and drawn out firefight works. I'd vote for Krylo too, and while I'd prefer #1, #2 works. Krylo is of course, busy lately, so someone else might be a better choice. |
That's where we disagree, unless you meant something other than what you said. Heroes aren't supposed to be stronger than anyone they fight. With the pirates, it wasn't a big deal really. I found it funny such incompetence landed themselves a big ship, but I foresee bad things dealing with marines that are heavily armed and supposedly trained. So far they are ending up the same as the pirates. Pity that.
Edit for clarification: When I said god-modding, it was more of a "for lack of a better word" context. Maybe a better word would be overpowered? I wasn't accusing anyone of breaking the rules, I just prefer drawn out combat versus "I score nine headshots in a row and obliterate a squad of elite guards then I throw three grenades with both arms and a leg and blow up five tanks." Ok...that was god-modding, I was just having fun about halfway in. :) |
Well, I see where you're coming from, but if we took realistic casualties, this would be real short RP, no? *Shrug* Storm troopers were *supposed* to be elite and highly trained, but never hit those little rebels named "Luke Skywalker" or "Han Solo" because, well, that would really put a damper in the whole Star Wars storyline.
Anyway, I'll be gone for a few days coming up, so Dante will be taking care of my character while I'm away. |
I'm not asking for realistic casualties either. There can be a healthy balance. Also, not every circumstance has to involve kicking down the door and blasting everyone in the room. Instead of "Headshot, headshot, headshot" whatever happened to "Miss, graze, miss, hit?" I don't know, gets a little monotonous.
Also, anyone who watches Family Guy knows stormtroopers are not elite or well-trained. That and, I had tried to emphasize a general fear of tactical marines, something that would have been earned due to tactical expertise. I grow tired of this discussion, it barely belongs here and, frankly, you're a good roleplayer. I may be venting off anger from other times with roleplayers that are most certainly not good. |
Raze'el didn't gat thirty people, he surprised one, had the high ground and available cover, outsmarted one, and then got lucky and knocked the third out.
He got the jump on the first one, too. But, he's not much of a fighter, so he's not looking to get into a fight with these Marines, obviously. He'd prefer a more covert approach to the situation, but he's having to deal with a few crewmates who think otherwise. No offense, but when I start seeing accusations of god moding without any names mentioned I feel compelled to offer my explanation. |
I haven't even shot at tactical marine yet, Nor have I really done anything other than talk for the last bit, really.
|
Again, god-modding was probably a bad choice of words. It seemed like the best choice at the time, since it's the reference to overpowered stuff on these forums. I apologise for causing some kind of uproar, I'd hate to have my image tarnished over one typoed comment.
I could list the reasons why it doesn't matter. I'm not the GM, my word is not law. I may have created the marine appearance, that was part of the open-ended structure of the RP, but since I'm not the GM I barely control how tough they are. Nothing in the RP signup said you had to act totally realistic, nor did it say you had to act like Arnie. Therefore, you get to choose. *shrug* Difference of preferences more than likely, I prefer serious, realistic, drawn-out conflicts, most people prefer short, brief action sequences. I didn't name any names and I don't really plan on it. If you were doing silly things, you would know you were, that's enough for me. My previous examples were not to be taken literally, I know no one took out thirty people single-handedly (in all seriousness, it took about five people ;)). So far the Opera hasn't been the style I was hoping for, but that can change. Or I can change. Phoenix, Pyros, Zephie: I am not accusing you of god-modding, to make things blatantly clear. In fact, due to the Space Opera you've actually impressed me in your ability to roleplay quite well. You get a gold star and a hero cookie. |
Fine fine, I'll be temp GM first. Now I gotta think of something for us to run into after the space station, though...
|
I can help you with that. PM me with your ideas and I'll help supplement them.

Geez...I was trying to complement you. :P
ANYWAY. I need to know who has a comlink of some kind or another on them. I know Barahad does, and that's about it. |
