8-Bit Theater Chess Set

The Light Warrior (White) side would include:

8 Fighter Pawns
2 Black Belt Rooks
2 Red Mage Knights
2 Thief Bishops
1 White Mage Queen
1 Black Mage King

The Dark Warrior (Black) side:

8 Drizzel Pawns
1 Mrr'grrt and 1 Lzh'lhe Rooks
2 Vilbert Knights
2 Captain Bikke Bishops
1 EPS Queen
1 Garland King

Like? I think that is a perrty good set up. I would show a diagram of the Light Warrior set but that would be too many smilies and thus cannot be done.

Perhaps you should wait, lest we see other villains besides Margaret and Leslie (I can't comprehend them in their evil, uncomprehendable forms) who in reality were in a few comics and then died.

They weren't really dark warriors as they haven't survived their trouncing to try again, and they were alive much much shorter than BB. I'm sure the guys'll bump into some other duo or nemesis in the near future.

Redmage should be a queen anyway, given his amazing versitility.

Good job on the sets

Giving fighter Clones and stuff
Heck if it came out id buy it because I am shop happy...

CallmePrismatic 07-03-2005 02:50 PM

Black Belt should be the pawns because (A) Thats how WM treated him and (2) He created clones.
RM should be the Queen for versatility and his cross dressing.
Fighter is obvious as the Knight.
Thief is a Prince, so him King.
BM is Rook because he's straightforward.
WM is a holy-woman, so she can be the Bishop.

Or play as the forces of Chaos

8 Imp pawns
1 Chaos King
? Lich
? Kary
? Leviathan
? Other fiends

Skyshot 07-03-2005 03:18 PM

I don't think Leviathan was in the first game.

I was fine with the Light Warrior arrangement, but I wasn't sure about the Dark Warriors' side. I like RTA's idea better.

Pawns -- Imps
Rooks -- Tiamat
Knights -- Kraken
Bishops -- Lich
Queen -- Kary
King -- Chaos

That could be fiddled with.

I personally like Callmeprismatic's set up for the light warriors a little better, no offence.

And the dark warriors should be:

1 King Garland (the main badguy)
1 Queen Sara (she's already royalty)
2 Bikke Rooks (he looks to be the physically strongest of the group, and the rook is a castle)
2 Drizz'le Knights (great warrior, when he has his swords)
2 Vilbert Bishops (seems kinda right somehow, though I don't know why)
8 Forest Imp Pons (though we all know who the REAL pawns are. =P)

Just because of how bored I was, I went and actually created a mock-up of what an 8-Bit Theater chess set might look like, using CallmePrismatic's Light Side and MetalPsycho's Dark Side.

What do you guys think?

Skyshot 07-03-2005 08:45 PM

Not bad, but I'd recommend using the full-size sprites and perhaps a tilted board to give it a better feel of an actual chess board. That's just me, though.
