Gamecube, ho!
As you may have guessed by the thread's title, I received that cube of gaming joy this very Christmas. Many a tear was shed during this event, especially when I saw NFL2k3 among the games received (what am I, some sort of freakish non-geek?). But that's another matter entirely. Or is it?
So anyway, I've been hunkering down for some Metroid Prime, and good god, man! When I first heard of the 3-dimensional Metroid, I thought it'd be the worst idea ever, but in action, I was proved sorely incorrect! If anybody's trying to get a bead on my progress, I'll just say that the last item I got was the Thermal visor. The only thing the game's missing is a strafe hotkey. Who wants to hold down the lock-on key to strafe? You had to do that in Wolfenstein, damn it! Other than that, the game is totally ownz0ring my momOMGROFL. Naturally, with my increased monetary funding, I was able to get myself a few more games, the Gameboy Player, and of course, a memory card (what kind of fiend wouldn't purchase one in addition to the Gamecube? These games don't run on carts anymore, folks). Below you shall see a current listing of my games. -Ikaruga -Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition -Metroid Prime -NFL 2k3 -Skies of Arcadia: Legends -Super Smash Bros. Melee I was wondering if any of the freaks at this board could help me to pick out a few more games for my viewing pleasure? I was thinking along the lines of Evolution for my first pick, but I still have cash ice money bling to burn. And although it's not a prerequisite, I'd recommend that you only suggest a game if you like the games I've listed above (minus NFL2k3. Always minus the sports games. And it's not just because it's a sports game. I just hate the game). This thread shall be an open forum for a dual purpose: to extend the life of my gaming fix and, to allow discussion regarding our favorite games. Example of the former: "Hey Kirbz! I think you should get Evolution Worlds!" Example of the latter: "Yo, anybody play Ikaruga? That shit is the mad note, f'real!" Onward, ho! And I do not mean "ho" in the derogatory sense. You 'ho. |
If you're into having to do stuff everyday, which some people aren't of course... Animal Crack.... o_o Oh! Mario Cart Double Dash! That game is pretty damn sweet, and I don't normally take very well with racing games.
Right now though, the game I personally want for the Cube is Beyond Good and Evil. Anyone else played that yet and can say its good beyond its previews? *pout* I wish I could have gotten to get a new Cube and get the Zelda disk... was my original plan before I found out the stores here can't do trade ins. (due to some f*cked up state law -_-; ) Was gonna trade my old Cube in, and pay the small difference. Mostly because I wanted to have the two oldest Zeldas. (*warning Zelda freak* ) That, and I LOVED Ocarina of Time... Majora's Mask can go to hell -_- but other than that one, I loved all the games that they packed onto that one precious little disk that I shall never see.... ._. From what little bit I have played, I like Metroid Prime... I've only played through the first level... But I actually enjoyed it, and that's a lot coming from someone who never has really liked that series until now. |
Soul Cali 2, JUST for the Link goodness. And maybe Return of the King, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
|
Resident Evil Zero. If youre into Survival Horror. And definitely, Animal Crossing, if you have an hour or 2 to spare every day so you can play it. Otherwise dont get it, because you'll end up starting over every so often. People in the game actually forget who you are after 3 months. Im so hurt. :(
What else... well you really have a lot of good games, but Im sure some more wouldnt hurt. Luigi's mansion. and... maybe Mario Sunshine, havent played but heard amazingly good things about it. And if you dont have Wind Waker go get it. |
I got a Cube this winter too. I only got Zelda collectors Edition and F-Zero GX. I am A Zelda freek so I loved the Disk. Tonight I'm getting a memory card (grr.. stores been sold out of them for awhile, better of restocked today.) And Soul Caliber 2. (More Linkage!)

F-Zero is pretty cool, if not hard.
Metal Arms isnt all that bad, havn't played very much of it though. Prince of Persia, Prince of Persia, Prince of Persia. get. this. game. |
My family wouldn't get me one... so I took all of my post-Christmas money and got one myself! I have Zelda collector's disc (WOOHOO!!!), Smash Brothers Melee, and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.... all pretty good games.... get Mario Kart Double Dash and Soul Caliber 2.... my girlfriend has them and they are both awesome games. Everyone on here should trade games periodically so we can all play good games without having to buy them... any takers?

*Looks through Nintendo Power mag*
Let's see. What do you need?... Soul Calibur 2: No explanation necessary. MK: Double Dash: Again, no explanation necessary. Luigi's Mansion: It's short, but sweet. It's also cheap now (like $20), so it's worth it. SM Sunshine: Kick ass platformer. Gameplay is similar to SM 64. Beautiful graphics. Burnout 2: Beautiful, addictive driving game. Viewtiful Joe: Wow. You gotta get this. Rouge Squadron 3: If you liked Rouge Squadron on N64, you'll love this. Also, FF: Crystal Chronicles is coming out in February. |
And many a great w007 was had for SOUL CALIBUR 2! There is nothing bad about any of the games listed, but SC2 is just as beautiful as a fighting game gets (I think). All of teh face-smashing goodness will keep you occupied for too damn long

I'm surprised that nobody said Viewtiful Joe yet. Viewtiful Joe isn't a game; it's a work of art from the the amazing slowmo combos to the cool levels and awesome enemy designs. If you think that games nowadays are too easy, play VJ.
You can't go wrong with Soul Calibur 2, either. It's a great game that's easy to learn and hard to master, like all fighting games worth their weight in salt should be. Beating people up can stay addictive for quite a while, especially with the Weapon Master mode. Character wise, I'm a Voldo/Necrid/Raphael man, and proud of it. Other nice games, eh? Here you go. Super Mario Sunshine: Good game. It's not as good as SM64, but it's fun nonetheless, with nice level designs. Plus, the boss fights were fun except for the last one. Star Wars: Rogue Leader: Yes, I'm encouraging this over Rebel Strike. Why? Well, the walking missions in Rebel Strike were tedious. Plus, the game just didn't feel like Rogue Squadron. Rogue Leader, however, retains the awesomeness of Rogue Squadron and adds a little of its own. Super Monkey Ball: Fun as hell and deceptively hard. Super Monkey Ball will kick your *** and make you love it. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker: Beautiful. The character models look odd in many cases, but the Cel Shading is done very well, with amazing environments and enemies. The game brings more innovation than just graphics, too; the Deku Leaf and Grappling Hook are novel concepts that I want to see repeated. Plus, I found sailing and exploring the vast overworld to be very fun, if a little tedious at times. Its only downfall is a lack of difficulty compared to the other Zeldas. |
