Dwarves
 

Since Thief turned out to be an Elf, I wouldn't be surprised if Black Mage turned out to be a dwarf! I mean he resembles them very much and it would be funny after killing so much of his own people.

He doesn't 'resemble' them; the Dwarves have shadows for faces because of their helmets. BM has a shadow for a face becasuse of his Hat of Magery.

Um. No, I uh...I think his face actually does look like darkness. Think Vivi.

I would have to disagree with the whole 'his face looks like darkness' thing. How would darkness drive somebody to near insanity (see episodes 36-47: Survivor 8-bit style) no, BM's face is either mind boggeling hideous, or mind boggeling cute. I think it would be funny if it was mind boggeling cute.

I think BM's face is pure darkness--the reflection of his dirty, blackened and shriveled soul.

In short, I think he look's like a Teletubby.

I think he's really, really cute.
It's what drives him to madness.

Yeah, but burning the dwarfs is funny.

Funny because they're short or funny because it's excessively cruel?
