#577: "Because it's gunpowder"
I really enjoyed making this one. I'm really proud of the panel layout and cadence of gags.

Muahahah Theif is still down and Out

First off, this comic is worthy of the comment "best comic yet".
Secondly, if you have never spent a winter in a place where winter actually exists, then you've never lived. You can't tell me that playing outside in the snow, pelting each other with balls of the fluffy stuff, sledding, snow-tubing, then coming back in to a cup of hot chocolate and a warm fire doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling. (yes, I said fuzzy) Brian, the extra room in the basement is free if you ever want to experience a few months of actual cold weather. Seriously, if it never got colder than freezing here, I would be as depressed as if we didn't have summer. [Edit] Also, it just happens to be 80 inside my house with the AC running, and the humidity is making it hard to breathe. Wish a hurricane or at least a cold front would hit us every once in a while. |
That was looneytune riffic!
Well, it was. Anyway, I just checked back to that episode of 8-bit, and it's good to see how well it connects to that part of the story. I hope there won't be a text bubble coming from an offscreen character repeatedly in the next couple of comics though. That kinda gets annoying. (What? you're complaining about the temperature? At my school, when it's cold, it's cold. When it's hot, it's cold. When it's a mild temperature, it's Hot. As for my house, My sister wants relief from the temperature in the extremes, so I sweat in the winter and freeze in the summer.) |
Best comic this month. I guess Ranger and Berserker found Rouge and/or Cleric.
This is the second appearance of thief's "Ghhkt", coincidentally, the other time it was also caused by a Ranger/Berserker incident . |
Whee! I like BM's amnesia dust. It'll certainly make you forget, as the blinding pain before what is usually, were this not 8-bit, death makes everything else not matter so much.
...And no, I've never tried it, I wouldn't know, and I can merely guess. Don't give me those looks... >>; Ahem. That aside, I really enjoyed Berserker's lines... He's a very interesting character. I wonder if he really doesn't recall what he does when berserk, or if he's just putting up some sort of act. I'm leaning towards the former, personally... |
Firstly, amnesia dust! Yay! Another old running gag brought up again!
Secondly, I wonder how and when Berserker switches between a killing machine and a civilised being. I suppose he puts on his monocle after he puts his target out of commission? And I really want to know how Ranger is in one piece. My guess is the Cleric healed him. Anyway, great comic. Especially with the gunpowder. Now we know what REAL amnesia dust is. |
Easily one of the best comics. Period. It was all so random and the multiple gag references were spectacular. You get a a SSStylish rating for effort. (Nice shading of BM in the blast panel btw)

How, how, how, is Thief still alive? Did he work out some contract with dieties to keep him alive and breathing or something? Wouldn't surprise me.
So Berserker also loses his memory whence changing from Berserker to Monocle-dude. This may have been brought up before in the comics, and probably has, so spare me the "You forgot this." :p I'm thinking of what gruesome organs Thief has lost, and I'm probably going to lose sleep over it. *shudders* |
Is that Cleric I hear?
The amnesia dust gag is redeemed by the last speech bubble. The true running gags are never my favourite. "Gnash, rip, hate"? He's such a card! Glad to see him recognized as he deserves. |
