World of Warcraft Gold Duping

It seems that the latest WoW patch has had an interesting bug.

Yeah, thats right they finally figured out how to duplicate Gold and Items on WoW. While, about 95% of the population has no clue how it is done, a few enterprising people, who happen to be mainly Chinese, have been duping for fun and profit. This of course has totally ruined the games economy.

Personally, I cannot stand cheaters. I hate them. I refused to use a game genie on my NES, and still refuse to use the gameshark and etc. Cheating like that dilutes the experience, but cheating on a videogame, to make money in real life?

Sick and wrong. Sick and wrong.

I curse you stupid Gold duping seller guys!

I CURSE YOU!

Deathosaurus Wrecks 07-19-2005 10:44 AM

whoa whoa whoa, how do you know its 'mainly chinese'? i know its become pretty popular among online games to blame the chinese power gamers for shit, but i think they've pretty much become scapegoats at this point. and if anything, i'd say blame Blizzard for being dumb enough not to catch said bug.

EVILNess 07-19-2005 10:49 AM

Well, let me reword this...

Most if not all of the people who have been caught were indeed chinese. And they all apparently play 30 rogues. <---proof rogues are evil!!!!

I won't deny that there are more than likey American pricks in there too, cause there are.

And yes Blizzard is inattentive, they players established that about 3 patches ago.

Deathosaurus Wrecks 07-19-2005 10:54 AM

hmm, interesting.

not that i'm interested in the duping, but how did they manage that? isn't item/character data kept serverside?

so either blizzard was epically stupid and left character data clientside, or they figured out a way to access thier shit on the servers? hmm, could even be a trade bug...

well, way to go blizzard, you've earned my ire once again.

It is some kind of instance bug. Guy A hand their money to Guy B and then Guy A goes into an instance and does something that basically makes the instance freak out. The instance spits them out without ever actually starting starting, and their character is rolled back, and they have the money that they had before they passed it to guy b.

This is also causing massive server instability. So yeah, it sucks.

Go to the WoW forums.......got a nice big thread discussing it.

Now I wonder is the economy like R.O.S.E now?

like all things are high price'd and sold at a high price...

its like the rich get richer and the poor get poorer

Edit: I need to play to see it

Sounds like Real Life America.

Yeah I heard about this, a little surprised Blizzard - Game of the Year every time Blizzard - fukked this up. Can they do anything right?

As far as i know, MMORPG's really takes a lot of work and time. So do expect
a bug here and then.

But indeed it is wrong to cheat online, its not fair for other players and the bug
may cause problems to the game too.

Kikuichimonji 07-20-2005 02:49 PM

Well, it's not like Diablo or Diablo 2 were exactly safe from item duping. So no, I'm not surprised. They probably had the same idiot working on it.

I do think the people that do it are asses. What's the purpose in playing if you can get whatever you want already? Items are a sign of prestige in MMORPGs - copying them nullifies hard work people took finding those items.
