Prince of Persia
i bought this saturday, started playing it sunday, and i beat it today. sweet christ nuggets this game was rad. it was kind of easy though, at least up untill the end. that last part where you dont have your dagger is pretty rough. i thought the ending was good too, not to cheesy or anything, the whole 'storytelling' element was pulled together nicely. the Vieser was a pushover though, not much for a final boss, but im not complaining.
anyone else have comments about this uber-rad game? |
I love the timetravel thing. The whole acrobatics to get places is awesome. I spent a while playing this with my friend and we were awe inspired. I havent got around to buying the actual game (just have the demo here) but as soon as I can and have the will to do so, Im pretty sure I will.

Could someone explain this PoP thing to me? I know you use a scimitar, but not much else...

There's the Sands of Time which reverses (and maybe forwards, I don't know I haven't played it yet) time for puzzles and mistakes that you made (i.e. jumping off a cliff). That all I know.

It's a pretty straight forward game... I'm at the 60% area (As you save, it says how far you are) and there's only been one real puzzle... Usually fights are when you first enter an area, then you have to clear that, then you climb around and get to where you need to go. When you enter the area, camera zooms all over the room, then at where you have to go. Every save point gives you a vision that shows you what you need to do, if your ever lost you go back to that vision and hope it shows that part you need... And there's no forward time, just reversing and stopping...
It's a great game, go buy it |
Do you have to complete this one within one hour?
|
er, no, it took me roughly 10 hours of play to beat it. you start off with your scimitar, then you get a dagger (the time dagger) that you use alongside your main blade. and then as you go you get some better scimitars and whatnot.
the time controll was pretty cool. whenever you fuck up you just press a button and (assuming you have sand available) time starts reversing. very usefull when you mess up on a jump, or get pounded in combat. Tap a button and time gets all slowy, stab a deamon with the dagger and they'll freeze in time for a little while. thats all the moves i figured out. |

Sorta like in Majora's Mask where you had to do everything within three days, even though you didn't really have to do everything within three days. |
The Mega-Freeze is really fuggin snazzy, it takes up all your battle sand, but you can destroy about 30 or so sand creatures with it (Have the same number of white cresent tanks as you have sand tanks, fill them all, hold R1, then tap R2)
There's a version of PoP1 in the PS2 version, I've heard that the X-Box got PoP2 and the making of the sands of time video as well. You can also unlock a '3d' remake of the first level of PoP1. Start a new game and stay on the balcony. For the PS2 (I'm not sure about anything else), press and hold L3 (hold down the analog stick), then quickly tap X, Square, Triangle, Circle, Triangle, X, Square, and Circle. There's no enemy tho, and it's easier then the actual level. By the way, does anyone have a copy of PoP1 that can bypass the damn copy protection after level 1? You can use the level skip code, but that only leaves you with 15 minutes (and it only works up to level 4, and I doubt anyone could beat the whole game after level 4 in 15 minutes) |
