No manga-ka is going to compare to the legend that is Battle Royale.

That or Kinnikuman.

In no order because I could never choose.

Fruits Basket
Love Hina
Naruto
A.I. Love You
Chobits

Hmm... I guess my favourites would be King of Hell and Descendants of Darkness. (Also known as Yami No Matsui.)

Here goes:

ALL TIME UNCHALLENGED FAVORITE: Akira!! (Simply the best. Period. I saw the movie and then years later read the Manga, and it totally knocked me out of my chair. I ended up reading all six volumes in under 2 days)

Top Ten List (assuming I'm not counting Akira)

1) Bleach

2) One Piece (SOOOOOO Close between the two. Bleach right now because of the latest plot twist, in japan)

3) Dragon Ball (notice the lack of a "Z")

4) Ranma 1/2

5) Naruto (Was good until the charecters got all growed up. Now the story isn't as good and the charecters aren't as interesting. Which is a pity, this had far more potential than is being exploited by the author. If things improve, Naruto may ultimately climb it's way back up.)

6) Eyeshield 21

7) Hikaru No Go

8) Shaman King (In an unrelated note, even the uncut US anime release blows. Fuck you very much 4kids.)

9) Trigun (The manga can be downright confusing, and it's way different from the anime. It's ok.)

10) InuYasha

I started reading Battle Royale, but it was too violent. Which is odd, me saying that, since violence doesn't usually get to me and my own webcomic is very violent. Oh, and I loved Battle Royale the movie, for sure (the squel blows), but I guess the manga never clicked with me.

I started reading Blade of Heaven ysterday, but I still am finding it hard to read anything translated by Tokyo Pop. Do these people even know how to hire decent writers?

If you can't tell, I greatly prefer action/adventure manga to almost anything else. Also, Viz does a pretty good job with their translations overall, writing the comics as if they're seeking an audience post-puberty (unlike TokyoPop).

Picking 5 of the BEST manga is difficult... (I may change it or add on later, there's too many to choose from)

1. Fullmetal Alchemist
2. Demon Diary
3. Vampire Game
4. Fushigi Yuugi
5. Mars

I haven't read a whole lot of manga, but the best I've read thus far are (In no particular order, except for the first)
Petshop of Horrors (the character development, art style, and story are all amazing. D is the most well rounded character I've found in manga yet)
Chobits (don't laugh, please?)
Vision of Escaflowne (also Tenkuu no Escaflowne)
Rouroni Kenshin
Yu Yu Hakusho

...Y'know...One question that's made me wonder for a while is this.

What's the difference between manga and anime?

Anime is the animated form of manga (it's animated). Manga is a graphic novel.

I also wanted to add "Revolutionary Girl Utena" to my list, (not the movie, or the "adolescence of Utena" manga, just hte original Utena manga)
