Stand up for your comedy
It's about time we had another one of those. So, talk about and recommend stand-up comedians. My own choice picks:
Bill Hicks George Carlin Lewis Black (who had me doubled over with laughter - not necessarily rare, but remarkable) I also listened to some Mitch Hedberg, who was truly a funny man and offered some interesting stuff in tightly condensed form - I still prefer the more, let's say, coherent acts though. Anyway, DISCUSS! |
Eddie Izzard - Funniest. Man. Ever.
"Squrriels will eat, then look around. Almost like they're saying, "Hey, wait, did I leave the stove on...Oh wait, I'm a fucking squirrel!"" Eddie Murphy's 1980s "Raw" and "Delerious" are worth buying on DVD just because. Gut busting from step one. |
Jeff Foxworthy. He is one of the funnier guys. I also am a fan of George Carlin. I like his "take no prisoners" attitude. And my favorite thing of his is his take on the Ten Commandments.

fuck, whats his name. Dean something... the "You get back in the firey water!" guy.
other than Lewis Black, no one makes me laugh quite like him. |
my most favorite by far is Dave Chappelle. he once did a stand-up for in D.C that was extremely funny.
for example, he was talking about elections and about how white people dont like to talk about their political affiliations. so, he is talking about a past scene with a white guy. here it is: White Guy: soo dave, i was fucking my wife. it was really something different. Dave: but, really who are you going to vote for?? White Guy: DAVE! DAVE! whoa..whoa. im talking about fucking my wife, and you start asking me all of these personal questions! |
Dane Cook is one of the funniest men alive
also, patton oswalt is quite hilarious |
Mitch Hedberg
Rodney Carrington Lewis Black Dave Attel. Not for the children. |

George Carlin
Bill Engvall Lewis Black And I love Jim Gaffigan, he's funny. "Isn't it wierd that when your single all you see are couples? And when you're part of a couple all you see are hookers?" |
Dane Cook, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Daniel Tosh (he's new!), Henry Rollins, Eddie Izzard, Patton Oswalt, John Leguizamo (sp?), Brian Regan, Mitch Hedberg, and Pablo Francisco are all hilarious.
Henry Rollins and John Leguizamo may be known for other things (rock and acting, respectively) but once they get up on stage, it's hard to not laugh about the crap that's happened to them. |
