Look out Paragon City, here I come!!
I just bought the Collector's DVD Edition of City of Heroes yesterday, and it is great. I chose a natural scrapper as my first character and he is fun. This place is absolutely huge. The only thing I wish was different is the hover power I just got. I wish it would at least go walking speed. My friend made a magic blaster for his first character. I think I'll make a blaster too.

ah, CoH, what memories. i've unfortunately given up MMO's for the time being, otherwise i'd jump on to show you around the city.
heres a few class tips: Blasters are amazingly powerful, untill you get in the lvl 40 range, then they start spending alot of time face-down on the floor. two Area-of-Effect blasters at early levels will rip through the newbie zones, (especialy Perez Park and the Hollows). Scrappers are probably the most fun class in the game (in my opinion). i had a Super Reflex/Martial Arts scrapper that was an absolute treat to play, very viceral and intense action. Defenders i still consider to be my "native class". i started as a defender, and they held my respect untill the day i uninstalled the game. treat your defenders right, offer to group with them, help 'em along through the levels, and you will be rewarded. P.S. Hover is NOT a travel power, but if you slot it enough with flight speed enhancers, it can become a very interesting alternative to running. also: flight kind of sucks when you first get it (high endurance cost for slow traveling speed); regardless, nothing compairs to soaring the skies. |
Yeah, I got it back in November or so, still playing it. I only have characters on the Champion server though. Currently I have one of each class of character, although the one I'm playing most now is a scrapper. When I5 hits I'm planning on trying out the new powersets, so those characters will both be defenders.
Also jazzed about the CoH pen-&-paper RPG to come out. Should be interesting to see how they translate the game from one medium to the other. |
I started a science blaster today. It is quite powerful, but i'm starting to have problems. I just got to the Hollows and the large groups of enemies are strong. The easiest solution is probably to team up with someone, but I'm not sure how that works exactly. Do I still get just as much experience as I normally would? Can I still work on my missions or do I have to work on my teammates' missions first? When I have to kill a certain number of people (Trolls for example) and my teammate deals the finishing blow instead of me, does it still count as a kill for me or do I have to kill another one in its place?

Now about those questions: 1. No, XP is spread out among your team members. However, if they're in a different zone than you (your teammate is in Atlas Park and you're in the Hollows) then you get full XP for your kills. 2. If a mission is selected by the leader as the "set mission" (the mission name in the Navigation Window has a red star instead of a yellow one), that's the mission that you have to complete. You can't even enter any other indoor missions. However, if no mission is selected, you should be able to enter any mission. Note that missions which require you to hunt (kill 10 Trolls in Hollows) do not need to be a set mission to be done. As long as you kill that particular enemy in that particular zone mentioned, it counts. 3. Yes, it counts even if your teammate engages the enemy from start to finish as long as they're on your team when the kill is made. Note that if it's your mission and you're not in that zone, it doesn't count even if some teammate is killing the right enemies in the right zone. You need to be there as well. |

I'm on either Pinnacle or Protector, can't remember which. Also, I joined up with a team and passed my mission.

I was wondering, how do I get a Peacebringer and Warshade. They're on my archetype selection screen when I make a character, but they are grayed out. Also, where are the tailors? I know one's in Steel Canyon somewhere, but I can't find it.

Careful with that double post. Just hit the edit button on your first post and make your changes.
1. Peacebringers and Warshades are only available to people who have level 50 characters. It doesn't matter what origin or archetype. Once you have a level 50, you're able to make them on any server, including ones you don't have 50's on. 2. There are three tailors (Icon Shops) in Paragon City: - Steel Canyon: Southwest of the Boomtown Gate. You can just follow the road at the gate going west and should see it easily. - Independance Port: The best way to find this shop is to follow the road that comes from the Kings Row gate. - Founders Falls: The highway that sort of acts as the southern border for the city itself. Follow it east. The significance of each shop is in the costume slots. When you reach level 20, talk to the main tailor of Steel Canyon Icon to receive a mission. Pass the mission and you'll get your second costume slot. Repeat this in Independance Port when you reach 30 for the third slot, and once more in Founders Falls at level 40 for the fourth slot. |
careful about those tailors. its really something meant for higher level players who have more influence than they know what to do with. at lower levels, you need that influence to buy yourself upgrades (Dual Origin upgrades especialy, they get expensive).
