One thing that I'm thankful for.
You know, I've been around the world a few times. I understand that there's a lot of people that don't/can't/won't understand everything that I say. But being able to get your message across to a crowd is a very good thing. Understanding the words that are written on a screen or typed up on a word processor is a thing that you want to have for the rest of your life. I've looked at some places on this vast world we call an "internet" and I can FEEL my IQ going lower.
Thank Goodness for the English language. It was made for a reason along with the rules they entail. Thank god that I can look at a word and my brain understands it and I can have more than five sentences written down that make sense to everyone who sees it. If English isn't your first language, that's great. Work at it. I'm not going to doubt you or make fun of you for any reason. But if you've been in an AMERICAN or BRITISH school and don't have a grasp of the language you were BORN with by the age of 15, what are you doing on the internet?! Use your time wisely and take those extra classes afterschool. Who are you helping, talking as if you're 8 years old? NPF is pretty good about people being able to conjugate well. Raising the standards around here so that people know what to expect. I'm glad I can come here and debate with someone who has an actual purpose and not "I teh kewl!". I've tried a lot of fansite forums for one of my favorite anime (One Piece)... I probably won't visit them again. Everyone talks in some type of shorthand that my little sister (8) could probably understand but not me... Thank you NPF for being somewhat a bastion of sanity. I can read what people are saying and not play connect-the-dots for a paragraph! |
??? That rant sounded a lot like the very thing you are complaining about.
|
And how is that exactly?
I'm more or less annoyed when someone uses shorthand a lot and the things they're talking about get skewed. Butchering the English language is a bad no-no with me. Especially when it's the main language I've mainly known for quite some time. No excuse to treat a forum like a chat room. |

Play nice, kids. There's a difference between making a mistake and going, for example, "hay :bmage: is teh best ne1 agree?pls reply :bmage: :bmage: "

(>' ')> <(' '<) Yess. People like that suck. Nobody here likes them, so we rule. The end. |
@Adoria: Lay off JC, he was just trying to say how much he likes the structure of the forums, not asking for someone to jump down his throat for using mainly too much.
@MoM: Please tell me the Kirbies there are good Kirbies, and not indicators of spamminess. You'd offend my Kirby is all, and he has two lightsabers...just sayin. |
I agree, and Adoria, you must be some piece of work if you think you can blatantly troll someone after having been banned from this forum.
For the record, I wholeheartedly agree with JC123. I can't stand shorthand. I especially hate 'lol'. Or 'pls' like Meister said elsewhere. |
lol......man i love this forum. i get a lot of good laughs here (honestly).

Yeah, I hate shorthand alot too. I can tolerate it in messenger services, I can tolerate it online, stuff like that...but to be honest I just can't stand it in forums. (Not aimed at Adoria) I mean why would you bother abreviating something when, chances are, you can say full sentences whenever you feel like it? Why bother with "LOL" when you can say, "That was fucking funny!" and probably sound less like an idiot? It's the AOL curse. That's why I call it "LOL 1/\/574/\/7 /\/\3553/\/63R" |
