Nicely put, Brian. Favorite parts in bold.

I mean, we all know this guy doesn't believe a word of what he's saying. He's a lawyer, the truth is not something he's concerned with. He'll say whatever gets his names on CNN. He'll say it twice and sprinkle some lies in it if it'll alarm parents. I just wonder if he has any idea that people like him only serve to stifle creativity for roughly one generation until all the talking heads figure out they were full of shit from the start.

There is going to be crime. Some percentage of crime will be committed by young people. Many young people today play video games. Therefore many young criminals will play video games. This is a statistic, not a cause and effect relationship.

Many young people also wear clothes. Look the fuck out, clothes. You're next.
See how that made no damn sense? Don't tell that to Jack. He'll sue you for being alive on a Sunday.

Think about it. If he is remembered for anything, it will be as a villain to culture. And if Jack has half a brain or any sense of history, he knows that. And he's cool with that just to get some cash now. That's the kind of trash we're dealing with. He doesn't have to live with how he's percieved by future generations. He'll be dead.

Or maybe he can sue the future for being a better place without him.

I like that the webcomic artists will stand up for their friends.

On topic:Is Rogue related to Akbar? :)

talse 08-08-2005 11:18 PM

not nearly as convincing a con as theif, much more of an akbar/theif, possibly due to a lack of elfishness.

[query]rapport=defined as ?[/query]

[edit]upon googling, i've noted that rapports are happy warm trusting feelings that people have. implying that ranger and redmage are on the happy train, man hugs for everyone![/edit]

Nucleus 08-08-2005 11:21 PM

But he is definitely an elf.

Carnivore 08-08-2005 11:24 PM

Yep, he's an elf. You can tell by the ears.
Thief is going to be immeasurably pissed. An Elf travelling with a Dwarf that attacked a member of the royal family. Rogue is in deep shit.

And, no, the con wasn't as convincing as Thief's cons. I guess he's got a lower CHA score.

talse 08-08-2005 11:36 PM

he can't be an elf, even with a pass from berserker he never would have made it through dwarf land with his organs inside his flesh sack being an elf.

MetalPsycho 08-08-2005 11:53 PM

I KNEW IT!

I knew Rogue would be Thief's lost twin brother! Or little brother at least. He's too much like a lesser thief to NOT be related, at least distantly.

Hybrid 08-09-2005 01:31 AM

I wonder what BM would want with 2 Rat Tails. . .

pendejochy 08-09-2005 02:08 AM

To be double powerful?

Salookanana 08-09-2005 02:16 AM

I say ... give one rat tail to White Mage and that way he gets her in the team! And in the sack!
Heheheheh....

*Ahem*

Those pixels that are Rouge's ears seem like elfen pixel ears to me. And those boots look damn elfen!

Trixbeat 08-09-2005 04:50 AM

So much for the quest needed for class upgrade. Obviously they fail and remain as the ones we love and know.

I wonder what thief has to say about the rat tails. Oh wait, he'll be dead for quite some time I believe.

ElfLad 08-09-2005 08:35 AM

I'd say Rogue is AT LEAST Half-elf.

Oh, and he can absorb another mutant's powers just by touching them.

Quirriff` 08-09-2005 09:41 AM

Ranger is a half-elf, you can't have too many half-elves.

Black Mage has a plan for 2, simple give one to fighter to give the Bahaumut, when Dragonkinggoddude realises he's been conned, he'd burn fighter to a crisp.

As for the 2nd rat tail,..... Red Mage. (Theif is still dead)

kam_islash 08-09-2005 09:51 AM

Rogue can say anything he wants and people will believe him.

He probably has 33 ranks in bluff, plus skull focus, epic skill focus, synergy from 33 ranks in diplomacy, and his bonuses for being a half elf.

Majin Darshe 08-09-2005 09:54 AM

Rogue can't be an elf, he has facial hair, and facial hair is SO not elven.

Which brings me to this: Hey Brian, Rouge's missing his mustache on panel 6 (when you see him from the side). At first I thought he was Ranger for a second...

CDS 08-09-2005 09:59 AM

You guys need to lay off DnD for a while. I didn't think the punchline was funny, even though BM was trying to con his way out of Fighter's life (through death... Fighter's) I see that.

The rapport skit was funny and I died when Fighter was talking about Transformers! *sniff* he's my hero! Glad to see 8 bit back. Field of Battle had its moments, just didn't feel right. Think it was the Double Dragon Sprites.

Sky Warrior Bob 08-09-2005 10:54 AM

The ears on Rogue aren't a dead giveaway. I mean that scarft headpiece might be showing off his ears funny. Plus he doesn't have bronzed skin.

Admittedly, giving all elves the same skin as the Thief sprite was my idea, but since aside from Drizz'l (who's a Dark Elf, after all), I believe all the elves we've seen have shared Thief's coloring. (And Ranger is only 1/2 elf, so no fair counting him. Even if he is dual classed.)

talse 08-09-2005 11:10 AM

and no one has yet provided evidence to the contrary that he is alive at the momment, which would be impossible were he to travel through dwarfland while being elven.

Waitasecond! Maybe Rogue is only a Theif clone because he touched him when he was picking him up!

Desmant 08-09-2005 04:30 PM

Actually half elves can have facial hair. In many stories half elves have grown beards so that they may blend in with humans. The most famous bearded half elf would be Tanis Half-elven from the Dragonlance series. YAY FOR NERDOM!

Toe Nibbler 08-09-2005 04:33 PM

One question, if rogue IS in fact, a half elf, with facial hair.... Why is it a FRENCH mustache? Oh btw, thanks for returning 8 bit. :)

Carnivore 08-09-2005 06:04 PM

I don't think the elves-can't-have-facial-hair thing applies to 8-Bit Theater. Thief's Dad has a mustache.

Admiral_Kelly 08-09-2005 07:21 PM

For the sake of argument, it could be fake.

Yes, but that's an obvious expensive hair transplant. So the King is an exception to the rule.

I just can't wait to see what happens next!..Cleric and the healing shiv! Rogue and his price of two imitation rat tails! Fighter does something! Maybe Whitemage will show up!

When Fighter only gets one line, he sure gets a good line.

Toe Nibbler 08-10-2005 01:28 AM

What if...Thief's dad wasn't really an elf!?!??!...What if thief were a half elf? What if BM was really a girl!?? What if Fighter was secretly a genius in disguise?!?! What if white mage was really the devil!?!? What if BB was in kahootz with teh fire chick and wasn't really dead!?!? What would happen if RM actually got every good item in the world?!!?!?! What if Drizz'l lied about his royalty? What if Bikke's favorite color wasn't really blue?!?!? What if, what if, what IIFFFFF

ElfLad 08-10-2005 09:31 AM

*SMACK* Get a hold of yourself.

Well, we finally get to meet Rogue. But where are Berserker and Cleric? Off talking about the finer points of healing shivs?

Sharper than me apparently. I didn't notice it.

Great Cartoonist 08-10-2005 07:00 PM

Well, most of everything I wanted to say, you guys have already said it.
But there is one thing: What's Raven gonna get out of the bargain?

The Fifth Power 08-10-2005 08:03 PM

"I'll do anything to get out of here"

Pretty much anything he wants out of thief. Which is scary, Theif being Thief.
