GTA Defense is No Good

The Whole Story Here

The guy who used the "GTA Made Me Do It" defense was convicted of capital murder today. Jurors deliberated only an hour before handing down a guilty verdict.

Despite this, the families of the victims are bringing civil suits against R* Games because the guy tried to claim that playing GTA III and GTA: VC caused him to do what he did.

So smart people do get to make decisions. I'm impressed.

How about we email this to Jack Thompson so he can unwind?

His family and friends left court without comment, while the victims' relatives and friends gathered to hug and thank prosecutors.
I love that line. But I love this one better

He pleaded "not guilty" and "not guilty by reason of mental defect"

Anyone who would try to use a video game as their primary defense obviously has a mental defect.

P-Sleazy 08-10-2005 06:32 PM

heh. I wonder if anyone is going to bother running such tests on this guy to see if he and his lawyers have mental defects. I mean common, what kind of lawyer would accept that as the defense of his client?

Fuzzydoom 08-10-2005 07:13 PM

The reall desperate and sleazy kind.

Salookanana 08-11-2005 12:32 AM

... wait they were sueing Rockstar over the deaths....

That means that they EXPECTED and HOPED that the retarted plea of "GTA MADE ME DO IT" would be accepted so they could get that shown in court and get money... they would be letting a murderer go off easy for money.... Oh dear lord, I just lost what little faith I had in humanity...

secretskull 08-11-2005 02:19 AM

Faith? I already lost that at least five month's ago.

I never had it.

I will never meet this person in my life again, but Lyn Durham has just become cool in my book.

I'm e-mailing this article to Jack Thompson.
