Solaris VII: Promising beginnings, part 1
 

Solaris VII the game world
January 2nd, 3050 9:30 A.M.

Scott stood in the run down mech hanger. The summer storms caused several leeks to form in the ceiling. Water dropped into a bucket behind him. He looked at a group of motley crew of mostly hung over mechwarriors.

"Party a little to hard during the festivities?" He arched an eyebrow "Anyway, the FRR team pulled out of the Superbowl events, it took some networking but I've gotten a slot in the Class D event. The problem is it's a team event and I'm without a team. So I did some research and you guys are the most promising ones I've seen in class D. If we win this event, we win the salvage rights for the entire field, and 50,000 for each of us. So do I even need to ask if you guys are in?"

Karen grinned. At first glance, she seemed to like this guy. He had the general solaris spirit to him, the informal, mercenary way of doing things. "Probably one of the better team leaders out there." she thought, as he ended his speal.

"Salvage rights to the entire field?" Karen asked rhetorically with a pleased tone, "I'm in, for sure."

Adam sat on the edge of a table, kind of tired from the night before. He hadn't gotten as drunk as some of the others here, but he'd been looking forward to an oppurtunity like this for a while now to add to that, and couldn't really sleep, so there was some sort of effect.

"Hey, good pay, good weapons? Beats the hell out of the military!" Adam exclaimed with some joy. "I'm in too, if that wasn't clear enough."

Still holding a bottle of ale, Ryan took another sip. "Can't promise you miracles, but I'll join. Could use some cash and new parts. Let's get this go'in." Looking at the group, he noticed he was older then the rest. Hope these kids got what it takes. he thought as the bottle touched his lips again.

Kyle took a quick glance around the room. He noticed that two of the other pilots were ex Kell Hounds, much like himself.

Well, looks like I'm definetely amongst some promising prospects here, he thought.

He grinned slightly.

"I'm definetely in on this. It's been a while since I've had to be a team player. Should prove interesting."

Something was odd; there just was something off about what he held in his hands now. While he was pretty sure he hadn't set his own cup down for any set amount of time, he didn't recall the Grape Soda tasting quite so much like wine. Especially not cheap kind.

However, even though he was staring intensely at his cup, wondering who could have possibly switched his drink, Raviel managed to nod his head towards Scott.

Sigil nodded to Scott.

"Count me in, and- wait, isn't that Karen? And Kyle?"

Kyle nodded. "Yes it is, Sigil. It's been a while since we last fought together..." he glanced over at Karen. "...the three of us."

Finally, after deciding that Adam was on the top of his list of suspects (going in alphabetical order, of course), Raviel leaned back in his chair and sighed. He just wasn't comfortable with these other people yet.

However...he looked at it this way; if they make sure he doesn't die, he'll make sure that he won't shoot them in the back during the battle. "So, when's it going to take place?"

"I don't know about the others, but it seems we have at least three bona-fide badasses in here. Although, one might ask, if we were so badass, why exactly are we gladiators, anyway?"
