Scott kept the throttle down and continued to bound his way across the field the heat build up from running at top speed.

(Sprint to 1508 facing 1408 using the forrest as cover.)

lazy man 08-13-2005 06:44 PM

OOC: 1407 to 1009, turn to 1010, then proceed to 1010. 6 MP in all, if the math's right.

IC: Adam finally started off running over a small, woods covered hill, stopping on the other side. Looking around, he saw Sigil being fired on already, while Scott was quickly making his way to the flag. If he could get a shot off, maybe he could stop them from firing on Sigil for now.

"Damn it, nothing..." Adam thought, looking at his surroundings and his radar.

"You gonna make it, Sigil?" he asked his lancemate in concern.

Wolf99x 08-13-2005 07:16 PM

OOC: *Viciously strangles the subscription system for not notifying him of any of the new posts, takes a few breaths, and gets to work*

0313, B-Map, Facing 0312

BIC: Kyle was glad that luck had put him on Karen's team. Having a former comrade on his side would tip the odds back more in their favor, especially since Sigil and his Atlas were on the other side of the fight.

He didn't mind being stuck in the back, guarding the flag, either. While the thought of command was intriguing, he knew that it wasn't necessary, and he was content with following orders.

He held his ground while Karen, Raviel, and Ryan moved up.

He silently praised the well-executed attacks on Sigil's Atlas by Karen and Raviel, and knew that eventually (providing that the enemy didn't foolishly get bogged down in a fight in an attempt to save the Atlas) the enemy would soon come for him, for the flag

He would be ready, however.

PhoenixFlame 08-13-2005 07:29 PM

((Run from 406 to 804, facing 904, using high ground as a good vantage point to fire missles. Line of fire just crosses squishy's mech at 7 hexes, LRM short range.))

Karen kept her throttle up and crested the hill, keeping a sharp eye on Sigil's Atlas. She silently praised Raviel's well coordinated attack, but her attention was quickly drawn to something else.

"Hostile mech, detected."

A Locust, Scott's, was in their backfield, running breakneck toward the flag. She cursed at not seeing him earlier, and twisted her mech's torso right to get a bead on the light mech. He was moving fast, but considerably closer than the Atlas.

"Hostile skirmisher past our line, engaging." Karen says over the comms, cycling to, and firing her right arm LRM-15 at the offending Locust, 5 of which streaked over the interdicting trees, fortuitiously managing to find the mech's right leg, while the other 10 slammed into the trees below, blasting the poor wooden objects apart. A dull "Whirr-Chink" sound indicated that her left arm LRM-15's had reloaded.

((3 Volleys, at +4 (10 hex move target), +2 (I ran) or 8+ to attack. Assume +2 elevation gets me a shot over the woods, since Squishy isn't *inside* the woods.))
((5+3=9, Hit, 3+3=6 miss, 2+1=3 miss))
((5 missles hit 6, right leg, from the right side table, dealing 5 damage.))

Wolf99x 08-13-2005 07:55 PM

((Faces 0413, Walks to 0413, Faces 0513))

Kyle knew that Karen had moved towards the incoming mech, based on that knowledge he brought himself to face the likely line of approach. He kept the stream between them, so the mech would still have to go around or through if he wanted the flag.

"Karen," he radioed to her. "If you set him up, I'll knock him down."

Truce 08-13-2005 08:32 PM

((405 to 403, walked))

Raviel moved forward again, into the trees, towards Sigil's mech. It wouldn't do to have everybody ignore the heaviest mech around. "Karen, I'll move in and finish off the Atlas. You can squash a bug on your own, right?"

((Not firing since Dante hasn't had a chance to respond)).

Squishy Cheeks 08-13-2005 08:46 PM

ooc: You forgot your delay Phoenix LRM's are reloading. The delay is the time it takes for the weapon to be ready to fire again. Be mindful of the delay, it can save you and it can kill you, best example if dante alpha strikes his weapons are off line for a round meaning he's a sitting duck

lazy man 08-13-2005 08:51 PM

OOC: Going from 1010 to 1012, turning 913, going to 813, and turning to 814. Phoenix is 8 hexes away. Medium range for an LRM-15 salvo.

IC: Running closer toward the midline and turning toward the right in the middle of his run, Adam got a message from his computer.

"Enemy mech detected."

Looking at what the computer had picked up, he saw a wireframe of a Crusader pop up on the corner of his HUD. Karen's mech had just fired on Scott's, and now would be a good time to distract her. Turning his mech in her direction and locking on, he readied a salvo on his LRM-15 launcher.

The shoulder mounted launcher flared up as one missle after another was launched in the direction of Karen's Crusader. Slowly, but surely, they made their way toward her mech, homing in on their target as best they could with the quick lock. The first five missles hit the left leg, while the next five hit the left arm with one going a little too far off to the side and missing, and the last five going up over the mech's head.

"Yes! Okay, now I just gotta hope that I can do a little more," Adam thought as the missles impacted and blew up.

"You still together, Blaze? Go and get the flag, I'll see what I can do while I have her attention."

OOC: Let's see... 3 volleys. +2 (Running), +1 (target moved 4 hexes), +2 (Medium range) +8 total. Rolls: 3+6=9 hit. 4+4=8 hit. 5+2=7 miss. Location: 5, left arm. 6, left leg. Damage: Rolled a 7, so 9 missles. 5 on the leg, and 4 on the arm.

Is all that correct?

PhoenixFlame 08-13-2005 09:03 PM

ooc: Neg. I used the left LRM 15 last round, and the right LRM 15 this round. I am alternating them, as I have two. I am mindful of my delay stats Squishy. ;)

No Lazy, should be 5 and 5. I don't have an AMS.

Squishy Cheeks 08-13-2005 09:04 PM

ooc: alright then i need a piloting check since you took the armor off the leg. 3, 3, and another 3. I needed 3 and I rolled 12 so I keep my feet.

Inbred Chocobo 08-13-2005 09:55 PM

((OOC: If I got this correct, I will start at 1205 on a-map and run to 1412, facing 1413. If I am also correct this gives me cover from both the hill and the woods.))

IC: "Shit guys what are you doing starting without me?" Razma said as he jumped into the sim. He immediatly jetted off, deciding that Scott might need a little help rather than the others.

Nathano 08-13-2005 10:20 PM

(Walking from 506 to 906)

"Karen, you OK? I'm right behind ya. Haven't had a good shot yet, but I'll see if I can get closer to the flag."
So far, Ryan had not been much help. With only lasers to work with and no advantages at his disposal, he decided to keep moving as best he could towards the flag and stay out of anyones line of fire.

(OOC: Lasers aren't much good if all the shots you can make need a critical hit to actually give you a hit. )

Astral Harmony 08-13-2005 11:23 PM

Tillie was sitting out the fight, trying to gather as much as she could about the skill of those she was now with. Automatically, she felt out of place. These were people who were more than the competent MechWarriors.
You're not a great MechWarrior, Tillie. Merely a competent one. Just listen to what the others tell you to do and you'll be all right.
Tillie sighed, wondering how she became a MechWarrior anyways. It initially started out with fear. Tillie feared going up against a BattleMech one day without having one of her own to defend herself. And now that she had a BattleMech...a large, formidible looking one like the Viktor, she was really starting to feel like she was simply outclassed.
I can't protect myself from hostile Mechs by simply having one of my own. I also need to learn how to pilot the damn thing.
She continued to watch the others. If she could, she'd join them on the battlefield, learn what it means to be a real MechWarrior, and then she wouldn't feel so unconfident anymore. Otherwise, they'd just tell her to leave them alone, she could always sell the BattleMech, and live the rest of her days in silent indifference as some fledgling noblewoman. Only time would tell.

Dante 08-14-2005 03:28 AM

OOC:

Piloting roll garnered an 8, which should be enough.
Movement from 608 to 611, walking move.

BIC: Sigil said nothing as his world rocked from the missile hits to his head and torso. He didn't have to.

What Raviel hadn't noticed that he was now just slightly over 800 meters away from Lucifer...

...and the Atlas could fire all its weapons at the Archer from that range.

Sigil tapped the screen on his mech, and multiple targeting displays and indicators sprang up all over the reticle. He centered it on the Archer, and the viewscren pulsed a malevolent red. A glowing bar marked ALPHA STRIKE materialized below the morass of lines and numbers and brackets.

"Thing fall apart, the center cannot hold..."

He pushed the button.

"Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world."

For a moment, there was nothing. Then the autocannon spat its massive projectile in a plume of flame and smoke milliseconds before a veritable torrent of missiles and lasers erupted from Lucifer, heading downrange towards Raviel. As the smoke cleared, Sigil scanned the screen, looking for any signs of the Archer having survived the barrage.

OOC:

ALPHA STRIKE: Target Ecurt

Base gunnery TN is 3

ooc: ecurt: Pilot check at a +2

Scott took note of the indicator alerting him to the compromised leg armoring. I'm going to have to be real careful of that

He kept the mech running full bore in a straight line along the edge of the map using the forrest as cover.

He turned at the end to keep along the edge.

and began a sprint toward the river.

( Sprint maneuver end position 1216 facing 1116, to fire on me wolf you need to fire through two hexes of light forrest, and you'd need to change your facing. I moved 12 hexes)

Inbred Chocobo 08-14-2005 01:02 PM

((Walking from 1412 to 1517 in map A))

Razma starts to slow his progress down as he prepares an attack on a Crusader he spotted. He starts to aim his LB-10X and decides to take his time in aiming, so not to miss.

((I'll fire on basically my turn 3.))

Wolf99x 08-14-2005 01:32 PM

((I drew a straight line from the middle of my hex to your hex. I beleived that it only went through one hex of light forest, but I'm not entirely sure so I'll take your word for it.))

((Faces 0414, Runs to 0414, Faces 0515, Runs to 0515)) Line of sight is clear on Scotts Locust at 7 Hexes. Short Range at 7 hexes for ER PPC))

BIC: Kyle couldn't believe that the Locust had gotten past all of them.

Well, not quite all of us, He thought as he brought his Warhammer down to a small thicket of woods. Standing at the edge of the woods, he could see the Locust sprinting to its position.

Damn that thing is fast he thought as he brought his PPCs to bear on the target and cut loose.

The first PPC slammed into the Locust's left torso, artificial lightning flaying away armor on the mech. His second shot missed low, burning a scar into the ground.

Well, at least I hit him he thought as he began to sweat from the momentary heat spike caused by his barrage. The Warhammer's double heat sinks quickly began to counteract the heat.

((I had to redo this because I'm so confusing))

((okay, short range, base hit is 3, +2 for running, +1 for light forest, +4 for target movement of +10 hexes. # for hit is 10))

((ER PPC1 - 10 (hit) 8 (Left Torso) 10 damage))
((ER PPC2 - 6 (miss)))

((+30 heat, -36 for heat sinks(18 dbl HS), equals zero heat.))

Truce 08-14-2005 01:33 PM

((Pilot Check: 3. Just barely...-_-;))
((Not entirely sure about this, so I'll change it if it's wrong))
((403 to 501, facing 517-A, ran))

He had overestimated the cover the wood would give him. Red lights instantly lit up all over his mech, and the armor from his right torso was almost completely gone. Half of his armor at his head was gone too, and his right arm was not looking good. As for himself; he almost lost balance, but just barely managed to save himself at the last moment. "I'm alright...really, I am."

However, he knew from that alpha strike that the Atlas wouldn't be able to fire again so soon. He'd have to gamble once again, and hope there wasn't an ambush.

After regaining his balance, he rushed to close the distance, he let his SSRMs lock on before doing a group fire, letting loose an assault of lasers and missiles. The heat surged within his cockpit, but it was worth it to see the Atlas get pounded.

Now, he just needed to get cover before the Atlas could attack him again.

Nathano 08-14-2005 01:37 PM

(Running from 906 to 1404 b map)

Comming around a hill, Ryan saw Razma. What was best of all was he finally had a clear shot at someone. Lining him up, Ryan hit the triggers, firing his ER Large lasers.
As one shot went wide, he saw the other one impact on Razma's Centurion's right arm.

(2 ER Large, short range, 5hex, base 3 + 2run +2move[IC]=7)

ER Large-4miss
ER Large-11hit

4-right arm

So 8 damage to your right arm.

heat: 2run+ 12 ER Large + 12 ER Large - 20(10 double heatsinks)=6heat

Inbred Chocobo 08-14-2005 01:59 PM

Razma didn't see Ryan until he took a strong blow to his right arm. "Crap, your going to pay for that one." He said as he switched to Configuration B and locked onto him with everything.

OOC: I believe this is called an Alpha strike.

((Ok, Base is 4, +2 for Ryan moving. I believe it is 6 to hit.))
((LB-10X is in short range. Roll is a 6 so hit. 7 for position so Torso. Damage is 10))
((LRM-10 is also short range. Roll for amount of missles is 10 which means 8 missles are fired. First five to hit roll is a 9 so they end up hitting Right side torso for 5 damage. The last three to hit roll is a 7, location is a 12, so 3 damage to the head.))
((The two medium lasers are in medium range so it takes an 8 to hit. First one's hit roll is a 9, location is torso so take 5. The second laser hit roll is an 11, location is 3 so take 5 damage in the right arm.))

((God I got lucky in the rolls.
Final Damage is:
Torso 18
Head 3
Right Arm 5))

SECOND EDIT: Looks like we got mixed up, its a 2 on location rolls that score crits. So no crits from me.

Nathano 08-14-2005 02:33 PM

"Karen, I've taken a beating. The Centurion fired averything at me. Badly hit. Good thing though is he's out for now. I could use your help in taking him down." Ryan yelled over the comm as his 'Mech was rocked by the impact of Razma's salvo.

PhoenixFlame 08-14-2005 03:14 PM

((Walk to 816, facing the northern hex, 2 squares from Lazy Guy's Thunderbolt.))

Karen's cockpit warning lights went off as an incoming Thunderbolt locked onto her with it's LRMs.

"Warning. Missle launch detected. Warning. Incoming missles."

Karen throttled down and approached the Thunderbolt, waiting for her LRMs to reload. Her lancemate readout noticed that Raviel had just taken a massive hit from Sigil's Atlas, and Ryan was taking fire from the enemy Centurion.

"Look Ryan, I'm a bit far away... I've got a Thunderbolt and Atlas to deal with, so I'm a bit tied up..." She said into the comms with frusturation, taking a bead on the Thunderbolt with her short ranged weapons. She waited until he was close, and quadded up all four of the Crusader's short ranged guns, and fired.

The weapons shot a ragged pattern of explosions and laser blasts all over the Thunderbolt's torso and right leg. Karen smiled as the thunderbolt's damage readout blinked and reported her salvo had good effect. The LRM-15 (L) on her weapons readout display's reload bar had filled, and it blinked green, signalling it was now fully reloaded.

"Kyle, I almost legged that Locust. Good luck." She said over comms, hoping Kyle's Warhammer could finish off the enemy capper.

"No sweat Karen. He's history." Kyle replied.

"Haha. Roger." She repeated, lips curling into a wry smile, "Mind getting up here and helping us with this Atlas?"

((Walked, +1, Clear terrain, Enemy moved 5 hexes, +2, Short range. 5+ to hit))
((Mplas1: 6+2=8 hit Mplas2: 6+3=9 hit SSRM2-1: 5+2=7 hit SSRM2-2: 2+3=5 hit))
((Mplas1 hits 5, right leg, dealing 6 damage. Mplas 2 hits 6, right torso, dealing 6 damage. SSRM2-1 hits 5, right leg, dealing 4 damage (2 missles), SSRM2-2 hits 7, Center torso, dealing 4 damage (2 missles)))

((+10 total heat, -14 for heat sinks. Total heat = 0))

Squishy Cheeks 08-14-2005 03:19 PM

Scott swore as the PPC blast ripped through hist mechs torso. a second later the torso section exploded spectacularly. Scott struggled to keep his feet, failing poorly the mech spun and fell on it's back. Warning sirens announced that over 50% of his mechs body armor had been compromised. He flicked up a plastic cover on the front of his seat.

"Man down!" He announced and pressed the button under the plastic cover. a simulated red flare went off. His screen went black for a second and then became a view screen, with the mech controls in control of the camera. Allowing him to watch the rest of the match

"Nice shot, Kyle."

Wolf99x 08-14-2005 04:09 PM

Kyle watched as the Locust spun around from the ammo explosion and crashed to the ground, not even attempting to get up, and ejecting a red distress flare.

As Scott praised the shot, he grinned slightly.

"No sweat," Kyle radioed Karen in response to her earlier message, "He's history."

"Mind giving us a hand up here with this Atlas?" Karen asked

"Roger, I'm coming up right now. Try and lure him back towards me."

He ran the Warhammer through the stream to dissipate whatever excess waste heat he had collected. Steam rose from the mech and partially enshrouded it in an etheral vapor as he climbed out on the other side of the bank.
