Truance had been quite unnerved by how cold some of these runners seemed, but he didn't mention anything. It would be too easy for them to kill him at the moment, and he was bound to be working with them anyway.
Instead, he simply boarded the vehicle in silence, steeling himself for future situations like this. He had begun to doubt this path, and he knew that would lead to death if such thought continued.
Even as a medic one would be unable to escape violence and the tragedies one would face in this job unscathed. He just hoped he wouldn't end up like the rest of these folks.

OOC; Yes, but he was still struggling.

Angela wiped her hand clean on a piece of tissue, then burned it with her lighter as she boarded the helicopter. Once seated, she looked at the lighter, then at the helicopter.

Funny how life seems to remind you of itself at the oddest possible moments...

It had been just like this, two years ago. She and Haldir had been partnered on their first missions, and she still remembered what he had told her.

"Don't forget your lighter, Ness."

"Why?"

"For this." He produced a cigar and pretended to smoke it, eliciting a groan from Nenessa.

"Right. I should have known."

She should have known, alright. She should have known that the Tir would have sent the one person who knew her best to hunt her down. Now Haldir was dead, and she had killed him. Had to, because otherwise he would have killed her.

Did you have to? You could have ended it there, turned yourself in at the scene, and saved yourself all that pain. Haldir would have stuck by you if you hadn't run. You say you didn't kill the prince, but when you think about it, you murdered your best friend instead.

She lowered her head and screwed her eyes shut. Hidden below her hair, a single small bead of wetness squeezed its way out.

Ark noted Truance and said, "First run, or even first time watching a murder kid?"

OOC: Anyone who isn't on a helicopter just got on.

After all the runners got on the helicopters, they took off for the city of Chicago and out of the Zone. They passed over the wall, the massive structure surrounding the city that was manned by multiple corperations and gangs to keep a constant vigil so the Bugs or Zoners couldn't break through. They continued on, passing over the slums which were just as gritty and poor as in every other city, the buisness district with it's corperate skyscrapers, the rare grassy area, set aside either as a park or for upscale housing, and continued past all this to it's final destination, the airfield. There they landed, the corperate troopers giving maps to all the runners, with certain buisnesses and locations affiliated with Ares specially marked, then ordering them out in a rush. When the runners evacuated the copters, they took off again and headed back to the Ares HQ.

A quick look around revealed the airport to be a deserted wasteland, with no running planes or other aircraft anywhere, and the only sign of it's purpose being a scrapyard made at one side of wrecked or blown up planes that either didn't make it in or didn't make it out in one piece. Some of the runners walked off to begin there careers in Chicago as shadowrunners, but a good sized group of them (OOC: You guys) stayed behind to continue their discussions.

OOC: You guys can either team up or split up now, but either way you will all end up on the same first run together and will probably team up after that if you don't now.

Cov looked over the scene. He didn't like it.

"All of you, stay alert."

Truce 01-04-2004 12:37 AM

"First run, or even first time seeing a murder kid?"

No...but it doesn't mean I have to get used to it. I'm called Heart afterall, not Heartless. 'Course, maybe it would be better if I gave him a more...appropriate answer of a runner.
Truance glanced at the other man from the corner of the eye. "Of course not, I'm just mad that you killed that man. He could've provided us information, valuable information at that. It could be codes, locations of loot, or hell, we could have held him hostage if he proved important.
"I'd think over my actions if I were you before killing without necessity again, because next time that just be the target you or I need to take alive." He closed his eyes, sighing. "In any case, I'm looking for other people to join up with. You in?"

Darth SS 01-04-2004 12:41 AM

"It's your first run isn't it. Fine, I'll go with you, but quick notice. Don't ever question what I do. Know what I saw when I was 12? I watched the closest thing I ever had to a father get stuck onto the wall via knives, and shot in various spots that wouldn't kill him. I watched my sister get raped, and then have all her limbs blown off by shotgun blasts until she was just a torso. Don't ever think I'm ruthless, because there's some people that kill for the sheer pleasure of it."

Conrad chuckled at the adept. He didn't really know what was funny, but he chuckled anyways. Perhaps it was the idea of them, coming straight off of a battle field, having to be told to be alert. Then again, maybe he just felt like laughing.

"Sorry," He grinned at the Adept. "I really don't know what's funny about that." Regardless, he was scanning the airport just as well.

"I agree with him," He pointed a thumb at Truance. "We should probably split into teams and check these locations the 'suits' mapped out for us."

He scanned the group infront of him. "Best thing to do," He nodded to Covenant, "Is to split the valuble resources between groups. After all, one team doesn't need to guys like us."

"Angela -is it Angela?- care to pool our collective resources?" A raised eyebrow. Pearly white smile.

(OCC: Heh. Saiyan. I wonder perhaps if now is not the right time to regail the team with such events ... pace your past, man! Pace it like a marathon runner! :p )

Darth SS 01-04-2004 12:53 AM

OOC: He's got plenty more past. That's just why his killing that guy seems pretty merciful in comparison to what he say for his first killing.

IC: "You're talking sense. It's almost scary." He crossed his arms and turned to Angela.

Dante 01-04-2004 12:58 AM

She blinked the tear away and turned to the two men.

"Yes?"
