He chuckled softly, shaking his head, maybe getting too into his act. "Heh, you think that the past matters to us? We're runners, we take jobs, and we complete them. Unless you're stupid, you don't complain and you don't get picky. We have no rights, and the corperations don't care what happens to us, so long as they get what they want.
"If we make a mistake like killing the hostage, it won't matter who was stuck on the wall. You may not get a job for the rest of your carreer, or worse, get hunted down. "I'm a medic, it's my job to prevent or correct any problems fists or firearms cause, wether it's to save lives or the mission. I don't care if there are psychos killing for pleasure, teammates of mine won't be one of them. They are too much trouble to deal with. "I've seen bad things in my life too...in this world don't think you're the only one who's been through hell." He sighed, shaking his head. |
He didn't even note Truance. The kid was bluffing, and it was obvious he was trying to prove he was tough.
"You in or out girl? Care to join our small plan to form groups?" |
Are you sure you want to join them? Thay *are* going to die if the Ghosts find you again...
No. They won't. Not this time. These people are... different. She sighed and nodded. "Count me in. Does anybody have a plan for the future?" |
"Immediate, or delayed?"
|
"Amen to that." Conrad shrugged at Covenant. "Can't say that I can bring myslef to care much about anyone else's torrid past either. It will make a good story to put in the memoirs, though."
He didn't mean to talk to her like she was a kid, but he put his hands on his knees and looked Angela directly in the eyes. "Girl, we're teaming up right now, okay? I asked if you wanted to join me as I scout out some of these locations." He held up the map the suit had given him. "You can either come with me and a couple of other people, or join the good Doctor and Captain TellsHisPast." Holding up his hands in a sign of surrender to Covenant, he added quickly laughing. "Just kidding, chummer!" "Now, if you don't want to be left all alone, I would suggest getting into a group, savy? My invitation is still good." A big, pearly white grin. |
That man obviously thought he was bluffing, he could see it in his attitude. He didn't make a comment though, if this continued he'd end up shooting the guy. Oh, and since that man didn't seem to be wearing body armor he doubted that even he would have trouble, even at this short of a range.
Instead, he merely responded with a flat "I'm in." |
"Actually, before we do..." Cov's foot shot up behind him, hitting a knife that Truance had sheathed. It flew up into the air, and Cov caught it.
"I need to borrow this, savvy?" |
Suddenly Mendel blurted out "Get Cover!" But then turned red and said, "Sorry, I'm a bit on edge right now... Actually, I'm always a bit on edge, but regardless, my view is we need to get to a safehouse or something and settle down for the night. That whole battle was stressful, and some rest before we start getting involved in Chicago's problems that need solving through a runners special skills may be in order."
|
"Great! It's settled! You," He pointed to the doctor. "And him," Pointing to Covenant. "Will join up, and the young lady and I will scout some other runners and join with them! Great plan. Good job, Captain TellsHisPast!"
|
She turned to Conrad.
Looks professional, like he can handle himself. The other guy's a little flaky - might not be the most reliable person under fire. Looks like he might go berserk at the smell of blood too. "I think I'll follow you. If we ran into any trouble, it looks like Mr. Man over there," she pointed to Ark, "might turn it into a bloodbath instead. And I'm not into bloodbaths." |
Leading Mendel by the shoulder and coaxing him, Conrad reassured him that he and Angela would make sure he was kept safe.
"Well, then. How about we find a bar, discuss the problems in a private are and perhaps scout a Johnson." In all honesty, he was just trying to help Mendel relax and get a bearing on Chicago. But at least it was a plan. "Angela, care to join us this way?" He said leading Mendel off towards a spot marked on the map. |
OOC: Does it really matter? I would bet he would have at least one small knife just in case. And didn't say he was being attacked, I was just saying he snatched it.
IC: "Stop calling me that. You can call by any of the following names. Covenant, Testament, Ark, Gospel, or Scripture." He noticed Angela's comment about him. "I should point out that a lot of my kills are quite blood-free, but that's beside the point. And besides, I know when to sneak." |
"All in good fun, chummer. No harm intended." He called behind him as he walked off into whatever horizon the map would lead them.
|
Mendel managed to smile and says, "Sounds good. Names Mendel by the way, although I usually go by Shocker, more because of my own troubles then any shocking I've done. Sorry, I'm usually pretty calm, just a little twitchy at times, nasty accident you understand. But if you need a decker or electronics specialist, look no further!" He finished with a salute, but felt his shaking coming back and took another pill really quickly.
|
ooc-Fine...eh, not that big anyway, I guess.
He shrugged, no longer caring who he was paired with. Of course, he wondered about the other man. He gestured nodded towards Mendel. "Anyway, what about that man? We gonna include him, because the more the merrier...or so they say." Edit: This is only directed towards Ark as Mendel introduces himself. |
Angela followed behind Conrad, eyes shut, her astral senses ready. Her hand lingered somewhere beside her Guardian and Imiri.
|
"Shocker, my dear chummer. You need a drink! And we need a game plan. We weren't hired to come to Chicago just because the mayor wanted to increase the pop. dens. I sense a rather decent run in our future!" He laughed. "The name's Conrad, by the way. Pleasure to meet both," He nodded to Angela. "Your aquaintences!"
|
"Angela. The guys with us are Mendel, Covenant or Ark or whatever his name is, and Heart, right?"
|
Mendel blinked, mildly shocked by how cheery Conrad seemed. <Well, if nothing else, it will be an interesting group you've gotten yourself into this time, and even if they turn out to be sent after me, I'd have to face them sooner or later, although they seem alright so far.> Mendel thought, but said, "I guess a drink sounds good, and any opportunity to learn more about what's going on is good." Then mendel noticed something Conrad had said, "Hired to come here? Actually, I came here because of a mistake in Seattle, and I heard that Chicago was low on runners and high on need for them, so one wrecked plane, street battle, and helicopter transport by a corp later, here I am."
|
ooc-I think we should make a new thread...now. Before it gets way past the 100 limit. It'll just make thing easier.
Also, I'm gonna go to sleep now, I have to get up early tomorrow. See ya! |
(OCC:Last post before bed! Yay! I work tommorow! Anyways, as I understand it the teams we've [I've dastardly] established are: Demon, Dante, Zero as team one. Ecurt and Saiyan as team two. Perhaps some mediation is required on the part of Zero, but I personally think that 'skill' wise the teams are looking pretty good as they are. That may change when everyone 'else' starts posting again. Anyways ... Ciao, Chummers!)
"That's right. I was hired by a Johnson, corporate probably, to watch your backs. So far I think I'm doing a pretty good job." |
OOC: Good night guys! I'll probably be sticking with Demon and Zero. No offense guys.
|
OOC: Well, the when the others show up it may change, but that looks fine for now. Things will of course shift as the RP goes on, since each run will require different things from different people, but that looks okay for now. I'll put up a new thread tomarrow, so don't go to far ahead in poting, just talk and others when they come can join groups. I plan on starting the post tomarrow with everyone having rested and the first run getting set up, just as a note.

Sigmaeus laughs at Covenant's speech as well.
"That was, rather amusing. You think to yourself, "Ive got it bad... therefore I can be this, 'cold, ruthless, killer.' You cant even imagine the horrors the rest of us have seen compared to the paltry loss of a family. They wouldnt have lasted long in your interests with your chosen profession anyway. "Watching" is one thing. "Doing" is another all together." Sigmaeus pulled down his mask for a breif moment, (it looks sorta like the ninja ones, just made out of another shirt) and took a deep breath of air. "It might make you a better compatriot if you'd lighten up a little. Being the one scaring the crap outta the medic over there with your bloodshed isnt helping our situation much. Give him a break. He tries hard, and I, for one, am not going to let you terrorize him." Sigmaeus pulled his box of cigs, and lit one up. She told you it would kill you... turns out she was the one to die. Haha... ... You adepts are all the same... Think youre better. Ha, you all think the same way. Kinda like... No. Get out of my head. With that, Sigmaeus pulled the mask out from under his shirt and pocketed it. He might use it later. Til' then, he was going to take a breather. "I, for one, suggest we head to find a Johnson. Our Johnson, at least. I suppose we're all in this one together?" (OOC: Edit: I just noticed I missed the entirity of page 4. Whoops. XD) |
"It certainly seems that way."
She yawned, then continued. "I see why you're called Tattoo now. So which would you prefer?" |
Sigmaeus stifled a yawn of his own... the damn things were contagious.
"Either way works for me... but I think Ill throw a guess that youre using a nickname as well... and Tattoo is easier to say... so you may as well call me that." "Tattoo" looked over at their 'supposed' leader, who was forming up groups. "Id rather be stuck with Medic boy and Captain TellsHisPast, as it were." He grins, as a cacophany of psychotic laughter echoes through his mind. Damn voices... |
OOC: Hm... Last page I had seen was 4... Some one wanna summarize what happened and tell me where everyone is?
|
OOC: We were saved from the Zoners by two Ares T-birds that strafed them and forced them to retreat. Then two helicopters came to rescue us, also from Ares, and delivered us to the Chicago Airport. The copters dropped us off, gave us maps of Chicago, and left. The NPC runners have all left, and the rest of us have decided to team up and split into two groups, composed of SS and Ecurt in one, and Demon, Dante, and me in the other. You should probably join a group, and since SS and Ecurt's group ia a little low on weaponry and people, I would recommend joining them. Anything else is mostly character development. You might want to make a quick post, cause later today I'll post a new thread that will get us on the road to our first run.
|
Drek had been polishing his weapons and had not noticed much of what was going on, then started to pay attenetion at the mention of teams. Then he saw some dirt of his shotgun, so he lost intrest again, but once he finished, he closed his case and pointed to the monk guy and (put in whatever Ecurt's guy is here). "I'll go with those guys..."
|
OCC: I think we should start a new thread.
|
OOC: I'm on it as we speak.
|
OOC: I just wanna point something out about Cov. People seem to be taking his sob-story as his justification for killing, but it's actually just his way of saying that in the grand scheme of things he isn't as bad as some. Some kill for pleasure, he kills indifferently. Just figured i should point that out.
|
OOC: Who's Cov? And since it's most likely you, who is Mendel (Or something like that, starts with a M...)?
|
OOC: Forever's Mendel. I'm Covenant.
