Ok I mostly finished my charecter, I just need help with the equipment, I really am not good at doing that, can someone help me?

hey, what are the pre-reqs for the arcane archer prestige class?

and what stats do I want to work on for a ranger/arcane archer?

Arhra 08-18-2005 06:42 PM

Prerequisites for the arcane archer eh?
Race: Elf or half-elf.
Base Attack Bonus: +6.
Feats: Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Weapon Focus (longbow or shortbow).
Spells: Ability to cast 1st-level arcane spells.

There you go. For a ranger/arcane archer, you'll want a high dexterity and high intelligence (if you're playing a wizard). A moderate strength is also handy for mighty bows and in case you're forced into melee.

While I played around with the idea of a blackguard, I've decided to go with a cleric. I'd like to know what pantheon you're thinking of using so I can select an appropriate diety (I'm not particularly fond of that 'cleric of a concept' thing).

Tip 2: Leave all your physical stats except Con at 8 and pump your mental stats, especially WIS. Wild shape replaces all your physical stats, and at level 8-10, you start with it.

Druids kick ass.

About the daily necessities thing - it is a pain in the ass. I assume everyone has all the trail mix and wine they can swill for 250 gold.

What about spell components? Clothes? Can I start with a cadre of undead minions created with the Create Undead spell?

PhoenixFlame 08-20-2005 07:37 AM

Costly material components are still costly. Expensive clothes too. Regular clothes are free, to a decent amount.

Undead minions eh? I can just imagine it: Cleric brandishes holy symbol "Command Undead! All your undead are belong to us." I've always found it a bit annoying that clerics are the better necromancers for creating undead.

As for my character, allocating that 68k of gold can be a bit tricky. Perhaps I shouldn't have splurged on that set of enchanted adamantine full plate... Alternatively I might cut out that Candle of Invocation. I'm cutting corners a bit with intended use of magic vestment and greater magic weapon.

My cleric should be pretty nasty up close if he can get off the old righteous might/divine power combo though. Especially if there's time to throw in a divine favour. I'm thinking a ring of counterspells may prove to be a real lifesaver.

PhoenixFlame 08-20-2005 08:08 AM

My character is more of a fighter also, especially when she manages to use the old Arcane Strike/Wraithstrike/Power Attack combo with a two-handed sword. (Especially should she get Greater Invisibility and Haste off.)) At range, I've got the classic war spells like "Fireball" and, "Maximised Lesser Lightning Orb".

I'm also going for the use of GMW. Between our cleric, battlemage, and monks, I don't think we need a dedicated fighter.

PS: Arcanists should be better with undead, I agree.
