Ff7 2?

Okay before someone calls me seven kinds of fool i would like to state THIS IS A RUMOUR.

Has anyone else heard about Final Fantasy 7 being re-released on PS2 with new graphics etc? I've so far heard it from two or three different people. I looked at the Square Enix Site but cant see anything (then again it also didnt say anything about FF XIII which im lead to believe will be released next year) Anyone else heard about this?

I daresay they've actually been talking about the FFVII Technical Demo for the PS3. [thread]

Waylander 08-21-2005 11:57 PM

Hmmm I dunno they seemed pretty sure it was a remake. I've read the linked thread and im agreeing with the opinion that its likely not just a tech demo. but it would be awesome it they did make a remake as long as they stayed on the same storyline. I would buy it even if it was exactly the same just better graphics. But they could maybe add some new features, new bosses etc. Like bringing Aeris (Aerith) back like you can in the japanese version or something similar. Even though her ultimate limit break would kinda ruin the rest of the game.

During the E3 PS3 Conference Sony said they currently had to plans of remaking or revamping FF7. That doesn't mean it won't happen, but stating what I heard (and what you could hear if you downloaded it) from Sony.

I don't want them to remake it. I put some thought into this, part of me goes "Oh sweet, more FF7 content! Sure!" While the other part goes "The more content they release, the bigger chance they have of fucking up and tarnishing the original FF7. So, leave it alone. Move on."

Sakaguchi no longer head Squeenix. It's become another bloodlusting corporation interested only in remaking the past games with a few new features but nothing exciting.

Until about FF10, I could look forward to having these games released and being mystified at new worlds. Now, if they remake this, especially after that LOOOONG post a while back describing all the things I missed about it the first time (and so help me if they did it just to bring back Aeris...) I'm just going to ignore everything that Squeenix has to offer (including the Dragon series)

Making new games based in the world seems alright to me. Remaking the game is just a tarnish. They made do with what they had! The game's a classic. I for one like creativity more than retreading your steps.

You can't.

And that's why. Among other things.

FF7 doesn't need a remake just for graphics. The gameplay and storyline are fine as they are. If someone lets the graphics stand in the way of their enjoyment, well, their own fault.

EDIT: Hehe. Great minds think alike.

it would be nice to have better graphics, but they were good enough for me as at 12 *imagines ending FMW with Tifa* . . . um . . . right. The story was awesome, the gameplay was awesome, if the graphics were awesome too that would be . . . well . . . awesome, but unnecessary, escpecially since I'd have to spend another 50 bucks.

Also, you can bring Aeris back if you use a gameshark. But other than that, no way.

Jagos 08-22-2005 11:03 AM

I'll ask only once:

Let's PLEASE not bring up the Aeris thing. She's a 11101 or something like that. She got programmed to get killed. No Phoenix downs worked on her. She dies horribly against Sephy boy. Dead. Going, going, gone. Enjoy the time you had with her, she ain't there forever.

Okay, now that that's outta my system...

I noticed that the thread where the guy had the theory with FF7 and explained it in detail. I guess there's no way to get that back so more people could understand it.

It's not as clear-cut as that, I'd like to say this just in my opinion but it's probably valid for a lot of other people. My biggest concern with new FF7 material is similar to what some of you mentioned. The plot and storyline of FF7 is fine, and it's complete (aside from perhaps the Advent Children sequel...but...it CAN be stand-alone).

Now, while I don't let graphics stand in the WAY of my enjoyment, there's no reason they can't help to supplement them. Wouldn't you LOVE to see FF7, all of its characters, monsters, and especially battles (limit breaks, spells, etc) done in Half-Life 2 graphics?

I wouldn't pay for a whole new game just to see that, but I would WANT to.
