"I will work for you" Severin stated suddenly inturupting the conversation. Torn and battered as he was he still emitted an aura or confidence "If only to see part of the world changed to what it should be"

Kria tried to catch Katrina's eye. It seemed the demon woman was at least as annoyed with the shadowy man as she was, and she was running out of patience. She knew the man was powerful, but between the two of them, and perhaps even the five of them, if the other three stopped staring blankly at the man, they should be able to get the information they needed out of him. Her hand slowly moved closer to her scimitar as she said, "What I sought in coming to find you was potential. If that potential does not live up to my expectations, than there is no need to waste anymore time, now is there?"

Derek had followed Severin in the shadows, and hadn't felt the need to fully show himself as he listened to the conversation. His appearance was unneccessary so long as he was getting the information he wanted. Now, however, he recognized these kinds of buisness deals, while the others did not seem to. The assassin accepted to kill someone--upon being shown an amount, from which difficulty could often be assumed, and then the client, who, in cases this concerned with security, was generally a powerful man, gave partial payment along with the target's dossier, with the rest coming upon completion. If the assassin disagreed, then the client attempted to silence him. It was standard buisness procedure when dealing with highly delicate things like this.

"You don't seek others for potential. Only the weak do that. The same people who hire me... they seek my potential because they have none," Derek said as he finally revealed himself, stepping fully into the light and letting the hood of his cloak drop. "However, it IS standard buisness practice to show the sum we will be paid before we accept any missions. Even just a partial sum. I have never killed anyone for 'money' before... but I have for specific amounts of platinum pieces. Similiarily I will not fight a revolution for 'magic items', but I may if you show me the payment for our first mission... and tell us what the target is."

Feloss remained silent, thinking things over. The Druid seemed preoccupied with attracting the Yalanai half-demon's attention. The half-demon seemed to have many questions for their nameless benefactor, and the Wizard decided it was time he took a more active role in the proceedings.

"Sir, I believe my compatriot has a point. Until we know precisely what you want us to do, it is difficult for us to agree. As for your rebuttal to our irate Druidess, I sought you out of curiosity, because I wanted to know whether you could keep the promises you made or hinted at. The others may have come for similar reasons, or they may not have. Either way, I came because there was nothing else to occupy my time and advance my cause. This I must know...can you keep your promises? If you want to rule the church, fine, but aid me in the rebirth of my peoples' empire under my banner, and all of my magic and mind are at your disposal." turning to the newcomer, the mage continued, "Sometimes, one does not wish to be seen conducting certain 'business', so they send someone else. Furthermore, one can posess potential of a sort that would prove useless to the job at hand, and be forced to hire another."

"Don't think I don't know your intentions. You want a freebie. The answer is no. All you have is my word. And I keep my word. However, if you wish a demonstration of my associate's skill in crafting magical items, you have this."

A trap door slid open at the center of the room, and a tiny metal figurine rose up from the ground. It advanced towards the group with small clinking footsteps.

"Believe it or not, this is an iron golem. However, for convenience's sake it can reduce itself to a carryable form. It can also return to its normal size at a spoken command - inhaeduc."

The golem suddenly sprang back up to its original size of 14 feet, glaring down at the group through mindless iron eyes.

"It is also extremely good at pulverizing things. Not amazingly useful, but there are times when brute force is needed. In any case, this is the proof I have that I have the capability to produce magic items. Content yourself with that."

Katrina shot a glance to Kria, and then back at the Mysterious man. Katrina noted that Kria was a bit aggressive for a druid, but she did have a solution. Nature perhaps, was not so forgiving in diplomacy, but Katrina was willing to finish.

"Shadow, I do not wish to rob you, nor do I wish to decieve you. I merely want you to tell me what you want us to do, so that I can accept the "mission." I cannot simply give you my word, without knowing what you intend to have me do, now can I?" She gave a wrathful glance to Severin, almost as an afterthought, "Unlike some of us..."

Dante 09-05-2005 08:17 PM

"Well, he's willing enough, that's a bonus. In any case, like I have told you before, there will be subversive work and killing on a grand scale. Something you" - here he looked over to Derek - "should be familiar with. How else do 9 people break a sprawling thocracy's power, anyway?"

Krylo 09-05-2005 08:34 PM

"I doubt that nine people can break a sprawling theocracy's power... however, I accept your offer on the understanding that our pay will be of similiar value to the golem," Derek replied to the shadowed man's question, choosing to ignore the man's comments on Derek's expertise as an assassin, as he leaned against the wall of the chamber, making himself comfortable, while he waited for the others to finish. "Also, I believe the half-fiend is questioning how you will revolutionize the country should you succeed... I couldn't care less what you plan in the end, but I tire of listening to this going back and forth."

PhoenixFlame 09-05-2005 09:01 PM

"It dosen't matter. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I will agree to assist you." Katrina said to the shadow. It wasn't a paticularly interesting conversation anyway. "For now..." she thought.

She appraised the golem from afar, her own red eyes locking with it's, each staring at each other for a moment before Katrina broke her gaze, and examined the other aspects of the war machine. It seemed well-made, with finely forged joints and sizable arms for smashing things. "Most impressive..." she thought, remembering the Yalanai war-golems of old.

Dante 09-05-2005 09:09 PM

"Are the others in agreement?"
