Advance Wars: Dual Strike

I just bought this game and I am addicted, it has the same gameplay as the first two, but your CO's can gain experience and get helpful skills like "movement over forest = 1" or "+8% attack". Anyone else buy this or am I the only guy with a DS anymore?

Oh no...

You're not the only one taking on everyone with Grit and Max in Tag CO battles to destroy everything that wants to cross in a weird fashion on the desert, nor the plains.

Believe me, that, two screens for destruction, and good AI make this game pretty damn hard! This was the one game I waited for.

>_>

I've put nearly 70 hours into it. That's how addicted I am.

<_<

Also, Rachel's SCOP would make Sturm proud. Three Missiles with the same range as his Meteor... it's brutal.

Oh geeze! This was the first game I truly was awaiting on the DS! And I don't have a DS, either. It seems absolutely awesome.

I've been debating on if she's good to use or not. I'm not a big fan of the luck ability...

Locke, there's only so much you can say about the DS and Advance Wars. If you have to pick up a series and learn how to tactically use ground as well as troops, this game will teach you.

Lockeownzj00 09-07-2005 03:53 PM

Err, I'm a fan of the series--and Strategy games in general. I'm still curious as to how the simultaneous battles work.

Jagos 09-07-2005 04:14 PM

You do CO swaps. You start with one person as the CO and get their advantages. However, after you move everyone else, you can swap COs and have that other person's advantages.

If you fill up both CO's bars, you can have a tag CO power. One CO can attack with the troops, then afterwards, you can attack with the second CO. SEVERE damage, especially when both COs are compatible (ex. Jess and Rachel, Max and Jess on plains, etc.)

Lockeownzj00 09-07-2005 07:40 PM

But isn't it air/ground, etc? Or can it be ground/ground, sea/ground, etc? As for the air, I saw pictures where the planes were completely in the clouds. How would they attack ground units? ;o

Jagos 09-07-2005 08:39 PM

The screens are separate with separate COs when the battle calls for it.

For the most part air battles can be controlled by one CO or another, but that's strictly dog fighting (air/air)

You have a few suggestions you make to the second CO (attack, defense, mid) but from what I've played, you can control the land battle. You win the air battle, you have two COs against one.

To send them up that high, it has to be a stealth bomber (new: takes on everything but naval I believe, weak against A-Air) bomber, or airplane. Choppers can't go that high so it's all about the Air Force with no worries from A-Air attacks.

MasterTonberry 09-08-2005 07:49 AM

The Stealth Bomber is the best all around unit in the game, really weak against fighters and other stealth, but when it's hidden, only other fighters and stealth can touch it. Now, let's talk about favorite CO combo's. It may have no bonus, but I like to use Jess and Eagle, Tag with Eagle first to get out two turns with his powerful air-units (and boost Jess' air abilities), then use Jess to mop up the ground and refill all ammo and fuel. Also, on DS battles , you can choose to control the top screen too, and to answer a previous question the simultanious battles are played out as if there were four players on one map 1p's turn then 2p's and etc. for all four CO's.
