Carrey/Stiller together in movie
Now, I've heard wacky movie plots before, but what in God's name...?!
*sigh* I shouldn't even try, since it's bound to be a blockbuster. People will see it 1) because it has Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller together for the first time and 2) because it's a stupid comedy. And people like stupid comedy. |
Something about that short description made me smile. I might watch that.

I sure do like stupid comedy. Far better than some of these so called 'action' films nowadays anyways. And I'm a Jim Carrey fan (Truman Show = <3) so I have to watch this one regardless of if the storyline sounds whack.
Wedding Crashers didn't get much coverage over here, but I loved every second of it. A very funny movie with two funny guys in it. Proves it can work. (Let us just hope that Carrey doesn't overdo the 'funny' in this one.) |
LOL! it got a 4.56/5 rating. The Idea seems very half baked to me, but then again most good movies had a half baked idea to start with. :sweatdrop

At this point, I can't see anything going wrong with a Carrey/Stiller combination. But, bad directing decisions and sucky plot are always possible. I think I'm going to wait to see what others think about it when it comes out before I drop $9 on a ticket. I'm not prejudging it, I'm just a little weary since the time a few buddies got me to go to Dumb and Dumberer with them. We all walked out fifteen minutes into it. |
Ahh!! Do not group Napoleon Dynamite with Ace Ventura!
Sahh, yew insahlt meh! I don't like juvenile stupid comedy--the difference, I think, between random (neoistic) juvenile comedy and just random (neoistic) comedy, is that the juvenile one always relies on jokes that get old in about five seconds. Monty Python: neoistic comedy. Dumb and Dumber: shit. :P But anyway. Quote:
As for Stiller, I think Maddox has got this one covered. |

The ending ruined the Truman Show for me. The rest of it was just "meh" to me. And it's not that I didn't get Eternal Sunshine, I understood it fine. I just didn't like the movie. I was actually falling asleep through most of it. |
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *explodes*
But I think it was more like...he could entertain people and do stupid comedy easily, but his truly challenging, and successful roles as an actor were those. Ahhh! I'm really curious now. What about Truman/Eternal bothered you? I mean. There's a real problem if you go into it wanting to see Carrey hit himself with a hammer--and that goes for any actor. Now, if you just think he's not as good at it, that's one thing, but I think most of that stems from wanting to see the man in a certain way. It's the curse of any actor who is continually stuck with similar roles (Curb Your Enthusiasm's episode with Jason Alexander, anyone?), and when they try something new they're berated. If they're seen in isolation, I think they'd stand the test, and I saw Carrey originally as a comedian. If Brandon Fraser succeeds in a serious role, I'll commend him for it--but right now, he's what Jim Carrey was: a one-trick pony. |
Yeah well I also have had huge problems seeing Ashton Kutcher other than with that "Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" "That 70s Show" grin on his face, or kissing Sean William Scott.
And, all the same, I heard Butterfly Effect was amazing. |
Butterfly Effect was Amazing
Eternal Sunshine and Truman were fairly good too, but Majestic wasnt too good. It didnt even give him a chance to be funny like in the other two. Only thing I see that this may have a problem with is Carrey's and Stiller's age. Their probably gonna look alot younger than they normally do in this movie. P.S. 400th post! |
