Space cowboy help thread

Ok this is partly an interst thread. and one part rpg creation thread. I want to design a stat rp from the ground up and let's do it in a space cowboy environment. I know we all love sci-fi fantasy so we should all have theories about what would make a good rp. i even want your help in designing the ships. Let's design everything. Ships, weapons, stat systems, planets, let's do all of that. Have it be an NPF original game. created on NPF for NPFers by NPFers.

My first submission

We need between 5 and 15 major stats.

Okay, my ideas for major stats are the basics, like strength, dexterity, intelligence, speed, and constitution.

I'm guessing others can come up with stuff though.

Strength: Measure of physical power. Melee attack strength and other strength based activities (lifting, breaking, etc).
Agility: Measure of physical speed and grace. Ranged attack accuracy (and, by extension, power), as well as basic accuracy and other grace or speed based activities (dancing, balancing, etc.)
Constitution: Measure of physical endurance. Affects hp, and endurance based activities (running long distances, surviving poison, long sessions of hot sex)
Intelligence: Measure of... intelligence. Affects learning speed, and brains based activities (investigations, etc.)
Willpower: Measure of mental endurance. Affects ability to ignore effects and will based activities (running while physically exhausted, surviving poison if con doesn't help you, long sessions of sex with an abomination onto reality)
Charisma: Force of personality. Affects ability to influence people and win friends.

Maybe seperate accuracy and agility, That way you could have a guy that shoots but never moves.

Maybe also throw in piloting. Sense I think a lot of people would want to have their own ships. But maybe before figuring out stats it should be established if its going to be Free form or story line. Because if its story line then there would probably need to be less stats. but if its free form maybe more stats.

Well, I think piloting is an offshoot of the dexterity stat.

That would just be a high skill in a fire arm.

But what stat would affect them if we were to do that? Perception? Making a stat JUST for accuracy with weapons would be pointless.

I think that would be a skill... making everything you do rely on stats is silly.

JAD was asking for primary stats... and yah, I think that would have to do with agility, and probably intelligence.

Accuracy should be it's own stat. You can throw in some other reasons for it, but it should be it's own stat just for guns. Most combat situations, the guy with the highest dexterity will win, since he can get his guns out the fastest and shoot them the most accurately.

That's pretty much how it works in real life...

But I suppose you're right.

Perception should affect aiming, as well as anything else that has to do with noticing small objects, etc.

Either that, or get rid of stats affecting gun damage. It's about 99.9% skill to aim and fire guns.

Since guns will probably be the way to solve all violent situations, aiming and firing should use both stats and skills, to make it harder to be a Vash-like person.

I'm thinking

Strength: physical lifting capacity
Agility: Willfull grace
Reflexes: intuitive grace
Stamina: Endurance and such
Inteligence: faily basic
Willpower: The ability to resist manipulation
Charisma: The ability to influence people
Perception: again explanitory

Optional stats: the others are mandatory on some level but these aren't
Psionic power: Telepathic ability
Intuition: Precognition
